LEGO Parts Not Available In Sets?
Space Police XVIII replied to Boettner Builds's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I remember reading somewhere that large enough LUGs can order batches parts in odd colors. Don't quote me on that, though. I've got some oddities myself, for example helmet visors in white and pearl gray, I'd love to know where exactly they came from. -
Interesting to hear such a different interpretation. Maybe we had very different sets? I started out on Classic Space and I recall it being quite functional, allowing of course for playability and parts limitations. But it doesn't matter that much, I'm not trying to tell you how to play with your toys. Guess so..it's mostly the weird stuff that appeals to me, German weirdness from late WW2, pogo fighters, nuclear-powered bombers and the like. I'm curious which stealth planes you mean.

What got you into collecting Lego as an Adult?
Space Police XVIII replied to badchriss's topic in Community
60020. Big-ish truck. Looks properly sized, next to four-wide cars. Modular build, the cab and container and chassis come apart nicely, which just begs for modifications. It's just a well designed vehicle. The twelve-year-old in me was all, hell yeah! this is exactly what I wanted in those dark days of ridiculous four-wide semi trucks. I changed the cab around a little, made the chassis into a twin-steer and that was that, I was readdicted. -
Aww, I do! Form follows function! :DBut you're right, anything can be explained away. You know the B-36 bomber? One experimental design for its landing gear used caterpillar treads. Here' sea other idea, it's a ship specifically for landing on soft terrain and/or in high gravity...
-
Very neat. The cockpit and wing layout remind me of a Dralthi.

Looks really good. I like the modular design. The treads remind me of some experimental B-36 landing gear.. But I'm not really sure about the combination here. Why treads for heavy terrain, when it can fly over it?
-
VERY nice. The layered plates behind the cockpit make for an especially nice touch.

Should LEGO bring back a dedicated space theme?
Space Police XVIII replied to Arctic_Ace's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Thanks. Pretty neat set. This turned into a 'wishful thinking for a new space theme' thread, sooo... I basically want an expansion of the Space Police III theme. The blend of 'spaceship' and 'space car' designs was neat, hinting that space travel is now so commonplace you can hop in your personal little ship and complain that your commute to work twenty light-years away take sooooo long you guys. Opposing factions are a given, I think; police and criminals most likely. I'd love to see this built on, until a theme like Town in Space results, with spaceship service stations, shops and residential buildings and restaurants, hospitals and the like. Other factions could be worked in as references, as things that exist somewhere on the edges of wherever the story is taking place - there could be a Classic Space fleet outpost somewhere, Blacktron could show up to fill the role of criminals or space pirates.. -
I like it! And I'm going to have to steal that cockpit design..

Should LEGO bring back a dedicated space theme?
Space Police XVIII replied to Arctic_Ace's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Eh? What set was that? Anyway, I'm certain it will happen. Sooner or later. Maybe the new Star Warses will bomb so hard Lego'll scale back on the license, replace it with Space Police IV and onwards.. -
Lego themes that we would like to happen

Your tolerance of xeno filth makes the Emperor cry. I guess I'm saying Lego War40k would be rather nifty also- 451 replies

Nexo Knights 2016
Space Police XVIII replied to BrickJagger's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Now that's just crazy talk! What's next, you'll tell us people can put these little plastic bits together in different ways, without instructions? -
Nice mix of old and new aesthetics, I like it! I think the guard turrets could use a little more greebling, it's hard to see at a glance what they're supposed to do. Maybe a ball joint to articulate the loudspeaker/thruster piece? edit: one of these pics makes me think of space dentists..

Great build, I really like the town atmosphere...and the triffids..and the posing.. it's all great. Major bonus points for the kid in the red Classic Space shirt!

[MOC] Aqua Suit - Flounder goes into the world
Space Police XVIII replied to kobalt1977's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Very cool. Great job with the trans-clear accents, especially the hoses and bits on the limbs. It really looks like there's water coursing through the whole thing, maybe a filtration system that spans the entire body. -
Nexo Knights - Poll
Space Police XVIII replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
After all this discussion, I hope it sells like hotcakes. I hope it becomes a perennial thing like Ninjago. -
#2 looks like Maersk Blue, but I wouldn't bet money on it.

Indecisive people in the toy aisle... What is an AFOL to do?
Space Police XVIII replied to xboxtravis7992's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I keep my opinions to myself; everybody's got their own ideas on what's best and most valuable. That kid might like Chima or superheroes. Who am I to judge their strange and terrible taste. What's best might be irrelevant anyway, that kid might be looking for whatever has the right parts in the right colors for some original build. -
Whatever it ends up being, I really want some fantasy elements. Magic rampant, used for spells and maybe even powering machinery. Machinery like bikes to replace horses, maybe even siege engines and, though it's not very likely, massive mobile fortresses? Demonic enemies, good guy knights and wizards. That classic, dreary castle gray could be supplemented with some brighter cheerful colors, like maybe blue and even trans-neon orange for contrast.

Nexo Knights 2016
Space Police XVIII replied to BrickJagger's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
This is turning out pretty awesome. I'm definitely getting the tank-castle. Neat design, tons of parts I want, and TANK CASTLE. Axe knight's been skipping leg days. That bothers me more than it should. The little 1x1 pyramid piece is neat, promising, but all I can think is, hooray, a cheese wedge that'll split in four directions. -
NICE build. Good taste in music, too! I'm blasting Immortal right now.

This is great. Nice use of whips, too.

Ohhhhhhh. Neat trick!
