Anyone have any luck making a flail?

You can try using 48729 or the new 22484 to attach the ball to the chain. Alternatively, you can try using the fishing rod part 93229 instead. Using that part alone isn't a good idea, but you can simply hide it by wrapping it around the chain, using its bar (it has a 1L bar, which is the shortest one Lego produces) part to attach the ball to the chain, then connect the 1x1 round stud end of the 93229 on top of the other end of the chain, then connect them to a longer bar.

    [MOC] Freedom Gundam ZGMF-X10A

This is awesome, great job! Wings look amazing, and that video really show your mechas capabilities to the fullest!

    [MOC]The Magic Swan Geese

Beautiful landscape! I like how you used different tree techniques in the same build.

    Life in Nordheim

This is truly wonderful! Everything is full of life, streets and buildings are nicely textured, and all of the separate builds are added to the final build perfectly!

Lord Vorn of the Black Spire

Another servant of the Black Spire? Sleep with both eyes open, servant of the drow, and watch your back after every step. Who knows, perhaps you might meet with the sharp end of a blade when you take a wrong turn at a dark corner. Sweet vignette, I love your introduction build. Interesting character too. Am I wrong in getting a necromancer vibe from your character?

    MOC: Modular corner building

Looks awesome! The building itself is lovely, and I think colours look beautiful as well. I guess the main reason of people complaining about colours is the abrupt change of colours when your MOC is placed together with other buildings on the each side of your MOC. It looks rather good together with the Brick Bank, which also has white colour on the second floor. If you place it between Brick Bank and Parisian Restaurant (or Green Grocer) instead of placing it between Brick Bank and Pet Shop, I believe the colours of buildings might suit each other much better. As for casinos, I have no problem with having Lego casinos myself. But, I don't think Lego will ever release an official casino (modular or not), mostly because if they do, someone will bring it to the court by accusing Lego of influencing children and encouraging them to gamble. By the way, is your MOC accurate to it's real life counterpart height-wise? I think it can use an extra floor, although it'd probably put it on the same height as the Town Hall or Palace Cinema, perhaps even higher.
  7. They are relasing really nice Ninjago sets recently. This last Sky Pirates subtheme of Ninjago has lots of useful parts for both Castle and Pirates builds. Also, Temple of Airjitzu is golden for anyone who builds historical Japanese buildings. Well, I remember that they've declared Ninjago an evergreen theme like City, Technic, Castle etc., so that's probably why they are both out at the same time.

    The retaking of Eolas

Good work, the stonework looks great, and so are the other details. Looks like a busy day, both for workers and soldiers who guard them. Keep those spears sharp and crossbows ready, hopefully, your workers will finish the fortifications on time. My character (whom I have not introduced to the Guilds yet) would've been glad to help too, but things went foul in his last contract and he has a (not so) little problem with law in Kaliphlin at the moment. But, despite his somewhat notorious career choice, he hates the drow as much as the next Avalonian, so you have but to ask when the drow comes knocking!

    The Black Rat Inn

Nice pub with shelves full of spirits strong and light alike. I like how you used hinge plates as ordinary 1x4 plates and used their hinge parts to add texture to walls. I also like the story. I don't know how good is Remington in brawling, but given his current condition, he might make lots of gold in those silent brawls.

    [MOC] Expanding the MMV

Much better! Giving Magic Shop a sign like Tavern, Blacksmith and Stables of the original set is better. And crossed axes on the Armor Shop definitely looks much better than placing the lion carving right above the door! Tarot cards as decoration is alsoa nice touch. I'd say, your Magic Shop officially works as a fortune teller too!

    [MOC] Expanding the MMV

Great work! I liked them both, they fit MMV very well. For some reason, Magic Shop reminds me of Legend of Zelda games. Bars on the Armor Shop is a nice detail too! However, I think placing the lion carving for the Armor Shop and magic scroll sign for the Magic Shop right above the doors might give them a more shop-like look.
  12. I expect it to be a collaboration between dwarven and goblin engineers. And for the sake of making it super cheesy (a.k.a. more Nexo-ish ) , the vehicle should be operated by being thrown to the low orbit by a supercharged catapult, then once it reaches the preferred altitude, engines start to keep it aloft.
  13. I just died a little inside... Now I feel terrible even bringing up the topic!
  14. Nexo Historica anyone?
  15. I've asked a similar question in the general discussion thread a while ago. If you are familiar with Lord of the Rings, I'd say all the stuff there are the limit of technology in Historica too. Catapults, ballistae, rails and vagons for dwarven mines, crude elevators and gate opening/closing mechanisms, windmills and watermills, bellows, black oil (ask Kaliphlinites for more detail), and even black powder (not gunpowder, something like Saruman prepared and has a limited use, not for making cannons and guns) are what you can expect to see in Historica. But, gyrocopters and mortars like in Warcraft 3, or an army of mass produced dwarven automatons like in The Elder Scrolls series are a not allowed, as much as I'd love to see Drow torn apart by a legion of steampunk automatons. Except for Algus, that is! It's still one of my fav Nocturnus builds!
  16. Actually, I've forgotten about this. There were lots of new weapons, armors and other accessories both in LotR and Hobbit sets. That kinda makes sense for higher prices. ...ah, who am I kidding. I just wish Helm's Deep and Uruk-hai Army sets were cheaper so I could've bought several boxes of each of them
  17. Except there weren't any $11 LotR sets. There were only 2 sets around that price range, Gandalf Arrives and The Wizard Battle for 15€. Even smaller and less detailed sets like The Council of Elrond or Attack on Weathertop are sold for 40€ and 60€ respectively. LotR sets are also more expensive in Europe compared to USA. Even if you calculate USD:EUR as 1:1 (which isn't), most LotR sets, especially army builders like Uruk-hai Army, The Orc Forge or Battle at the Black Gate, are +10€ more expensive in Lego Stores in Europe. On the other hand, 2013-2014 Castle theme had the same prices for every set for USA and Europe. And I wasn't even joking in my earlier post. I'm not about to make a detailed comparison of piece count and prices of all sets in both themes, but going with one example; Pirate Ship Ambush, a 756 piece set, has the same price as King's Castle, which is the biggest set of its wave with 996 pieces. So, yeah, they are more expensive than Castle sets.
  18. Well, LotR was a licensed theme and because of that, even smaller sets had a prize as high as a medium sized of a non-licensed theme. That's the biggest reason why not as many AFOLs as they expected didn't buy LotR sets. If that was a non-licensed Castle theme which was more adult focused like LotR, I'm sure thing would've been different.
  19. Asking the real questions here. The legendary penguin loop needs to be made.

    Photonomicon: Historic Minifig Evolution

Great review! That background really makes the whole thing much better than an empty background. Is that the secret leader of Wolfpack bandits on the throne? I'd also add evil leaders/kings, there are quite a few of them, but they still exist. The earliest I remember is Basil the Batlord of Fright Knights, Cedric the Bull of KK I, Vladek of KK II and finally the Troll King from Fantasy Era. There is also a troll sorceress in the same set as troll king, that one and the witch from the chess set (similar to CMF witch, but with yellow skin instead of green) might also qualify as witches. Not sure about CMF S14 witch though.
  21. You completely lost me in the "love letter" part. It's impossible to consider a theme that has giant flying robotic horses, a mobile fortress on treads, tron lines on streets, houses, peasants clothes and basically everything, a holographic computer program wizard, robot squires, knights with power armor and shields that can practically work as a surfboard floating on the air, as a love letter to Castle fans. Using heraldries of Classic Castle sets doesn't help the cause either, since those parts aren't useable in Castle builds, as I said in my earlier message. Do I hate Nexo Knights? No, I've even bought several of minifigures of from the evil faction and other new parts (like new 1x1 pyramid slope part) on Bricklink, but that's about it. It never really happened to Town. Town basically changed its name, and only the name, to City and never took a backseat at all. This can be justified as City/Town sets appeal to a larger customer base and usually are the gateway to Lego for most people. But, I expect something similar with the other so called "evergreen" themes. With all those Star Wars sets, Lego has already postponed the Space theme for the unforeseeable future, and people who are "whining" don't want the same thing to happen to Castle as well. This.
  22. Well, Funcom have announced on Steam that they will shut LMO down around this september, so that's probably why TLG didn't include codes in S16 leaflets.

    CMF Series 17 Guessing Game

That's a horrible idea no matter how you look at it. Unless they are an in-house waves like The Lego Movie wave (or a possible Ninjago Movie wave), franchise-related waves restricts TLG to what a specific franchise offers and even which characters are more popular in the fanbase. If we go by the sales of first and second Simpsons waves, compared to numbered CMF waves, their sales aren't that bright either. I'd love to get an Alien Bounty Hunter minifigure in a CMF wave. As for Nexo Knights monsters, villains of the next NK wave will be water and forest monsters, so I doubt they'll take the focus off of them by releasing similar minifigures earlier in a CMF wave. New molds for lobster/crab traps? Yes please!

    CMF Series 17 Guessing Game

I kinda had luck in series 16 guessing game, so I'll try this one too. I hope lists from older guessing games are allowed. Here is my list: 1) Alchemist 2) Groom (S7 Bride is waiting for him for longer than 3 years ) 3) Space Scientist 4) Harpy 5) University Professor 6) Cook/Chef (I'm surprised how they didn't make a cook/chef minifigure yet) 7) Prince (we have Classic King, Fairytale Pricess and Queen, so I guess a prince is next in the line) 8) Drummer (one that can go along with Rockstar, Punk Rocker and Rocker Girl - possibly a drummer girl) 9) Shepherd (with a sheep, similar to S15 Farmer with his pig) 10) Navigator (with a Pirates style compass and a map) 11) Apprentice Wizard (young apprentice of S12 Wizard 12) Saloon Pianist 13) Tailor 14) (Polar)Bear Suit Guy 15) Goalkeeper 16) Prankster (child minifigure with a slingshot, possibly with a dual face print - one side is a smiling face and the other side is laughing)
  25. Exactly. Switching yellow parts with tan or dark tan would be the best choice, as it'd get vote from more AFOL Castle fans while not straying too far from the original colour scheme of 375 Castle.
