Did you pass on the Mixels themselves? Because they were a pretty inexpensive way of getting those sweet Mixel Joints. The most I did with them was building Transformer OCs, though I'm still in the process of revamping some them.
-
The Twinfector also looks pretty appealing. I might have to overthink my decision to get the Berserker Bomber and go for this one instead...

72004 Tech Wizard Showdown Pictorial Review
ZORK64 replied to DuckBricks's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks for the review! I guess if it weren't for the mini mech suit, the larger suit could've probably gotten proper legs, but regardless, I still like the overall look of this set. Although I will probably eventually take it apart for parts, it'll certainly look great on my shelf until then (and that may take some time anyway, considering that the King's Mech I got this year in a sale is still intact).- 28 replies

I'm also not too big on all the gold. It especially irks me in regards to the armor piece of the Nexo Knights - the piece itself looks great, but I wish it'd be done in silver rather than gold. Still, I think I'll get Berserker Bomber and Clay's Mechsuit from this wave. They look the most appealing to me in terms of design and parts selection.

I actually moved over to more brick-built sets even before Bionicle G2 ended, as I got more interested in Mixels. Since Bionicle ended, I bought 3 of the SW Constraction sets, though two of them will be taken apart for MOCing

Oh my, I think I've fallen in love with this set. I already liked the overall look of the jet, but the Mech Suit is the icing on the cake. Unless some of the other sets look even more appealing, I might pick this one up.

Yeah, for me is also black + trans-yellow/green = Blacktron As for the concept arts, weren't those made even prior to the first wave? Because I assumed that those concept arts simply show the initial concept for Fortex. Therefore, even if we get another Fortex, I wouldn't count on it looking like it does in that picture. I mean, the same picture also features knights in Mechsuits. I'm pretty sure those were the prototypes for the mechs we got this year.

I love the amount of detail that went both into the dinos and the scenery. Great job on all of them! I think the Aletopelta is my favourite. Both the dinosaur and the scenery look beatiful. But I also like Spinosaurus and Sarcosuchus a lot.

The Blacktron vibes are also what makes these baddies so appealing to me.

Both versions look pretty great! I'm usually not too big on the whole steampunk genre, but your mech looks pretty radical. My only nitpick would be the orientation of some joints (like the hip joints) - if you would swap these around, you could get a greater range of motion. But that's really only a minor nitpick, and other than that, it's a very gerat MOC.
-
Oh, I know which one are the faulty ones, the problem is, many of my MOCs use these, as many of my MOCs used Inika Builds.

Star Wars Constraction 2018 Discussion & Rumors
ZORK64 replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Meh, I missed the proper pics again. As for droids in CCBS, I'd like to see the Magnaguard as a Constraction Set. While it may not be the most creative build, it looked really cool. -
Jeez, those kinds of stories make me anxious about my old MOCs. They're doomed to remain in their not-so-well-designed form for the rest of their existence, as I would probably break their sockets by now...
-
I really like the design of Axl's Land Raider, and the armor on the bad guy looks also very interesting. I'm really looking forward to these baddies, the sci-fi vibe they give off is totally my jam.

LEGO Nexo Knights 2017 Discussion
ZORK64 replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Heh, kinda funny for me to see a German video review here, as I am German as well. -
What an amazing MOC! I especially like how you managed to fill out various gaps that ensure this fellow looks as organic as possible. Also, the beard rocks.
-
These are all good points, but I also like to mention that they're not impossible to accomplish. Lance vs. Lightning includes a little shrine, and Aaron's Stone Destroyer also featured a tree. Both structures have catapults, and the shrine is build in such a fashion that the Grimroc can rest inside of it. Simply put, I'd appreciate to see more sets in a similiar fashion: A vehicle, some constraction-y build, and some scenery.

I just realized that the bad guy in the bottom left has some Dark Eldar vibes. While I'm fine with the vehicle sets and the parts they offer due to them being helpful for me as a constraction MOCist, I agree that it wouldn't hurt if Nexo Knights would get also a few more structures to go along. Not only because they provide large parts (which I can also occasionally need), but also because scenery is appreciated as well.

That's a really cool MOC! Despite having two of these suits myself (Clay and Axl), I haven't done any MOCing with them yet. The new arms look particulary nice. Also, the set-up reminds me of the SCVs from Starcraft, which is definitely a plus in my book.
-
Yeah, I've been thinking the same for quite some time now. I hope that in the case that TLG makes a new original Constraction Theme, they'll tackle that.

Star Wars Constraction 2017 Discussion and Rumors
ZORK64 replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I recently got Baze on sale, he happens to be my first Star Wars Constraction set with a humanoid head. Even though I still haven't seen any of the new Star Wars movies, I do like him in terms of design, although I will eventually take him apart for MOCing purposes. -
Because I want it to be in-scale with Raynor. He therefore dictates the scale of the Marine I'd be building. But considering the lack of head options, I'll just go with a permanently closed visor.
-
I hadn't checked yet, so I decided to take a picture: And yeah, it's unfortunately a little bit too small. I mean, it could work, but at a first glance, I guess the head would be a bit too small. Techfig head would be in terms of scale the next best thing, but as far as I know the neck joint isn't compatible with anything but the Techfig torso, so I'd be required to incoroporate one of those into this build, which I don't really want to, as it would probably prevent the MOC from having a joint in the torso (not to mention that I still haven't figured out how to remove the arms of a Techfig).
-
Seeing these pics again reminds me how much I want to get Space Orcs with Nexo Knights. Also, the next wave of knight mechs needs capes and pauldrons. The Knight Mech seen in that one promo pic looks amazing because of these things.

That reminds me of how the vehicle sets of the Phantoka/Mistika line warmed shelves here in Germany. I only got my hands on a few of them thanks to some hefty price cuts on them. Furno Bike isn't CCBS though. So far, I had none of my CCBS specific pieces break, and while I do know Technic pieces that develop hairline cracks (I notice that often on 6536 - meanwhile, 32039 seems fine to me more often than not), the point here is that many of the later G1 Bionicle ball cups break as soon as you took the sets apart - it was not the result of mishandling the parts or applying too much pressure on the pieces, it was a design flaw of the pieces themselves. Plastic is a material that can become brittle with time. That's a sad reality of toy collecting. But the desaster of the late G1-Bonkle joints is plain inexcusable, and in no way comparable to any other Constraction Joints created by Lego.
