BoBs Discussion : Fleshie or Yellow heads?
Mesabi replied to Count Vroskri's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Behold! with the power of science! (And bad photo editing of a 100x100 pixel image.) Thaum in the Flesh! by North White, on Flickr @Professor Thaum what do you think? -
BoBs Discussion : Fleshie or Yellow heads?
Mesabi replied to Count Vroskri's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I feel like people get way too into having only yellow or only fleshie heads. I know it isn't a fantastic look to use a mix of both, but I really feel like it's almost a character personality thing for the figures. -
I like this one turned out. The troops are posed quite well, and the bridge came together decently as well. My one suggestion would have been to put a line of masonry bricks on the underside of the Brick, to make it look thicker. It doesn't distract from the build, though, and I love how it came together!

I like the design @Bodi, and I think it looks pretty decent, though it could benefit from more curves and smoothness. It's certainly pretty unique on the Brick Seas, and I think it turned out well.

[COR - Sistership] A Show of Resilience
Mesabi replied to LM71Blackbird's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
neat build, it turned out very well, and I like the technique you used for water. Nice bearskin shakos. I should look into getting them, though they're trending at about 5 USD to get more than 2 of them Wish Lego would actually put them in a set. -

Neat little build @LM71Blackbird! Ilike how put together it is. -
[Cor- Intro] The Ballad of Doctor Babbington
Mesabi replied to Edmund Babbington's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Good start @Edmund Babbington. You'll have to find a photo hosting website, Eurobricks can't host more than a few small images for profile tags. Personally, I recommend flickr, but they have a photo limit before they start charging you. Imgur, and photobucket work well too. Let us know if you have any questions -
I suppose that's a good point. I eagerly await your builds in the city!

I like you're build @Keymonus, I think it all came together pretty well. I would say though, I'm disappointed by the subject matter of the build. It's similar to what I posted on @Bodi's mcra build, but we've had so many beach invasion scenes (A whole category of Era I challenge 5 comes to mind) and the KPA actually gave you guys a pretty interesting hook in my opinion. I really would have loved to have seen this scene, or something more interesting than 'Bluecoats on the Beach' x2. If anything, it feels like ya'll just had this too prepared. Again, no negative comments on the actual build, or even story, mostly just complaints on the subject matter.

[COR - FB] Miller, Port Raleigh
Mesabi replied to LM71Blackbird's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I like how this build turned out, the brook looks great, and I like the variation of scatter. Great addition to the settlement! -
I like the idea for the build, and All of the buildings look fine. It just needs more to break it up.

Thanks for the excellent write up @Capt Wolf, and the court for bringing this all together. -
[OL-Sistership] Sistershipping of le Fougueux
Mesabi replied to Bodi's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Simple, yet effective. Good idea for a sister ship build. -
Excellent as usual @Ayrlego, I love the Character and realism of your builds. It adds a level of detail unparalleled on the Brick Seas. The Green jackets look amazing, and I love how the ivy looks on the building, and the roof tiles. If I could add two critiques, I don't like the clone brand torsos, I think they're a ok for troops that are kinda in the background, but to use them for every Corrish soldier doesn't jive it for me. Second, I think you could have rounded the corners just a teeny bit more. it looks a little more square than I've seen in some of your other builds. All in All though, amazing build!

Very neat, @Bodi, but I'm a little miffed that it's just a beach scene. Ya'll are having an epic invasion, I'd love to see it! (May eat my words when my Namere AMCRA comes to a head)

Great Build @LM71Blackbird! I really like how this one turned out. The landscaping and the wall make give it the extra character I like to see in a build. It is Always a good idea to give us a challenge... -

Thanks for the Feedback Everyone! Thanks! I went for a small aproatch with Vignettes this time, rather than risk overdoing it. I kinda feel like the palace might have overdone it a bit. Invade?!? The Province of Gondova is unrightfully occupied, and it'll take the righteous work of WTC Military Advisors to sort things out! Thanks! Thanks Thaum! I am far too big a fan of mixing fleshy and yellow figs, but I don't think I'll change this detail anytime soon, as I just prefer to mix them rather than just commit to either. I'll look into this. Let me know what you think after I do a figbarf. Thanks Khorne! I'll continue to keep working on my photography, and I'm glad you're enjoying the story. Well, those are complete opposite opinions!

Location: Port Raleigh Type: Small commercial Darby entered the study, to find Count Mesabi finalizing the 621 WTC budget. "Ah, Darby, my loyal accountant. I'd like you to take a look at these numbers, I think you'll find them, invigorating." With a disturbed enthusiasm. "Alright, looking at the list of expenses... why is our expense account total listed as "i"? Asked a very confused Darby. "Because it's impossible for us to lose money! Thus, our expenses are an imaginary number!" Said the Count enthusiastically. "That's not even how- Wait, and why do we gain money under "possible ship losses?" Asked Darby, exhaustedly "Because we don't have to pay the crews anymore, so it's a net profit." Said the Count. "Unlike my attempt to use giraffe as a substitute for Horse products." "Where did it go wrong? Their necks should have given us more than enough meat, and bones for glue!" muttered the Count, dejected. "And now, I've got a storeroom full of pickled Giraffe meat that no one wants to buy." "Sir? The Budget? I don't think the shareholders would appreciate projected profits to be quote 'Eleventy zillion and one of those big stone coins or two or whatever.' " Replied Darby, in a concerned tone. "Plus the shipping costs from Telvok, I know those traders screwed us Darby! Courtesy Fees!?!" Yelled the Count "I'm just going to need to do this by myself, aren't I?" muttered Darby. FIN Well, this is my first real build since January of 2019. I tried to pay attention to the concerns I've heard over the years, namely bricks pressed down, techniques, and Photography. I feel like this build really rectified most of those (I think I see one of the floor tiles not fully pressed in, but it's not super jarring, imho) but if anyone has any comments about things I could improve on, let me know. The original story of this build was this was the Count's living room in his Port Raleigh mansion, and he had a secret illegal horse glue factory in the basement. @Darnok pointed out that this kinda was silly, as there was no good reason for horse glue to be illegal, and after a few story and build revisions, I just turned the lower level into a standard 'commerce-storeroom' build. I'm pretty happy with this one, but I still need to get out some elements out of storage. I couldn't find any TNT bricks to hide in the build! Here are some pictures of the full build. My baseplate here this weird, 32x34 minifig-flesh-yellow one I've had since childhood, so it looks rather weird in the pictures. I cropped those out of the story shots, but to see the full build they kinda poke out. C&C appreciated!

@Darnok Thanks! the fixed photos show a lot more of the build. The 1600 Lumen one really helped, but now it's brighter than my SAD lamp!

Location: Tortuga Type: Minichallenge Category A The WTC, though late to the party, was determined to make its mark on the Beaches of Tortuga. Dolphin was roasted... ...and a Oleander was pickpocketed for good measure... Later: (Category B) "It's perfect" And so, the WTC finished a small sandcastle of their 'classic' qualty. Meanwhile, the rowboat was loaded with some goods the Marines had 'found', The Dock was blown up, and the Oleander's sandcastle was kicked over for good measure. It was a good time all around. FIN A last minute entry to @Professor Thaum 's awesome contest. Feel free to exclude it, as it is late, but I wanted to do something for it regardless. The "B" part of the entry is a bit of a throwaway gag as to some of my older build's quality, as I have like no tan bricks at the moment. C&C appreciated!
