Star Wars: The Clone Wars: season 3 discussion
BrickArtist replied to Corvus's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I agree, as I stated above, Lucas' intentions make the show less star-warsy. My dream would be a completely EU abiding TV show with real actors for SW. Wouldn't it be amazing? -

I made this exact post just barely in another forum, but I'll give it here too. Lucas makes TCW off of his canon, and not the EU. He doesn't care what some comic book writer made up, and if I were in his shoes I wouldn't either. TCW is what lucas thinks is a TV show that will be liked by kids, and have an interesting storyline, it's not an EU correspondent. -

Ehh, What? What's your sorce? If your talking about EU-I don't count it. He didn't appear in sith, and obviously he wasn't in the OT. So in my book, TCW just tied a loose end. -
If that's your way of accepting constructive criticisms, then so be it. I always offer my advice no matter what the credentials of MOCer or MOC are. IMO designs can always be improved, and only can they be improved by people not being to shy to express their honest opinion on it. If you don't want people to say they don't like your MOC, so be it. I'll never be Bias in my distribution of feedback.

"Saber, Saber, Saber Ohhhh, Saber, Saber, Saber Ohhhh." Agh, The next special edition will be "Return of the Bieber". And before you know it, SW will get extraordinarily high ratings amongst teenage girls....

Star Wars: The Clone Wars: season 3 discussion

Well, it just seemed unrealistic: A master with his skills, being killed by a hound? Anikan owned those things! As did Obi. -
Thanks Masked! This probably would have been more difficult if I wasn't so...'Acquainted' with the BARC. After doing all my minifig-scale versions i knew exactly what elements weren't able to be represented at that scale, which was frustrating. When I began making this model most portions came easier than I had expected. I didn't have reference in front of me for V1

The explosion is very nice! My two big gripes are: it's a mine..so we need to see some rocks. A tiled surface would be nice. I also can't say I love the inclusion of TLGs BARC(As I despise it). With that being said it's a very nice vig. I especially like the use of the flame attached to the droid head

Yep, I have. And on those flashing light panels it's flat, not textural. The old system-set tie control panel would execute that portion of the build. You also, as KDM points out built it off set, which gives it a sort of blocky transition. Why didn't you just build it straight across and then angle it with the door being at a 90 degree angle and using a angled plate to make the transition? That would have gotten rid of the sort of blocky look.

Welcome back, Me Man! Haven't seen you in the forums in a while. I'm having a lot of trouble with that front portion, while at minifig scale it was soo easy to make(2 1x2 jumpers) At this scale it's very difficult. I'll take in those criticisms during my next revision.

Bah, spammers. Just so you know this is not a place to promote your web-page.

Hmmm. It was ok. Piell Didn't appear after TCW so I'm ok with that. I think they did his death very well. I was actually glad to see Ahsoka become a key player. We're also starting to finally see some character development. Anikans becoming the hero he is in the beggining of ROTS, and Ahsoka and Plo Koon is good too. We're starting to see a real ARC trooper in Fives, and the bit where cody sniped out a line of Commandos was brilliant. Now onto my critiques. The Blood-Hound bit was really unnecessary IMO. That time could have been better used for the space battle that didn't evolve a bit. Also Piell really should have died taking a blast for somebody or something-he just got eaten up by one of the hounds. Besides, his wounds looked far from fatal. -
Ohh? What do ya' mean? I started reworking the nose Fallen, and I'm not so sure how I feel about the 5-studs wide figure. I think I'm going to make it 4 wide then put plates on either side with sloping bricks to best represent that distinctive shape. I'm also gonna make the top of it SNOT, with sloping bricks and angled plates to get that transition.

If I were you I'd go for doing this to your JAG and not this. keep this intact, and then take the JAG to new heights. You've invested do much decals, BL, and spraypaint into this one It'd be a shame for you to wreck it. Also you won't experience as much part limitations, as white is cheaper on BL. A JAG can also shuttle everybody-Jedi, Muunilists, clones, whatever. Plus theres more reference for it. It's a win win win win.

Thanks Big Cam! I honestly wasn't expecting me to go this big either. I suppose I might have felt guilty putting the 'UCS' label on anything smaller(Which I really wanted to do ).
-
No problem KDM. I actually think the weapons rack will be the most difficult as I can see there's a lot of Technic in there. For the Missile launcher...hmmm...I'd say your best shot is to have a reference to this detail, but not a full on transition. You'll have to make it at least 1.5 studs width. This build looks solid-And we wouldn't want to jeopardize that. I've got an idea, but have no idea what that piece is called. We should call in Emperor 309(Fallen) for that.
-
Yup, I thought that too! We just need to tell TLG that somehow, lets hope next year they'll either revisit their Delta, or bring on the stylish Eta. That'll be my intro to CW ships. I'll have to BL some extra ones. I'm already putting my Delta on the drawing board, tell me Doc, plates? Or SNOT? I'm going both Anyways in addition to the Delta-B, those cockpits will be a key player on this gunship.

I've seen some of the videos, it's so catastrophic. I hope the best for Japan, and the members of our community.
-
...Galactic Empire!....And there will be piece(If I keep making puns like that, they'll probably revolt against us ). Anyways, Fallen the CGI pic that the Doc linked is probably the best shot of it. After getting another close look, I think you should incorporate more Dk. Grey. If you get REALLY obsessed with this model(Docs AT-RT, Fallens T-65, My BARC). You'll want to go up in scale. I'm gonna warn you in advance, that front portion requires a super-scaling to be done right.
-
You've gotten little to no criticism on this bad boy, so I'll spare you some thoughts. Lets start with the obvious, then we'll get more...in depth. I'm not sure what your intentions are with this model(How accurate you want it to be ) First off, the cockpits aren't all that slender. Your best bet will likely be two Geonosian Starfighter cockpits. Next up is the sloping portion next to the cockpit. That piece gives it a sort of wavy look, you want a more vertical and straight look. The ball joint at the back it likely the largest law, I don't think I need to elaborate The 1x6 white arch brick for that opening looks a bit disproportionate, I'd go with the smaller version of that piece at the smaller size of 1x4. The missile launchers should thin out considerably at a point, that feature is absent on your model. The troops should have a weapons rack above them as well. Anyways, it's a great build/customization. I like the blue color scheme.
-
Yup, there are some sort of fundamental things that come to mind, like for instance the area where the backside of a plate is exposed, I'd flip the studs, and greeble Guys, to be honest I'm glad TLG isn't making these models flawless. To me modding them to perfection is part of the fun. If TLG did everything perfectly, comments on a ton of MOCs would become "Cool! But I think I'll stick with TLGs"

Wow, that's probably the best custom cody I've ever seen! I like how you didn't try to make him too accurate, which IMO makes the fig look busy and digresses from its appearance. I can't say I love the inaccurate weaponry. Great work -
3 replies for this beauty? Thats unjust, I'll give you another. Very clever having the old man passing the hero. I like how you snuck the bush in there. the well looks great, and the road is nice too. The base also makes for a presentable vig. Great stuff!
