Ah, the 2020 thread! The Empire Temple of Madness sounds like music to my ears; you can never have too many temples! I give 90% for it being for Speed Champions, 9% for it being Harry Potter (or whatever they want to call it these days), 0.999% for it being Hidden Side, and 0.001% for it being from an all-new original IP.

3D Printed Ninjago Props and Weapons
Exetrius replied to DuckBricks's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Awesome, zeb! For a moment I thought you had photoshopped the hammer into your hand, not in the least due to how much shine it has! You nailed it! -
Thanks for sharing! Being able to check where surely not to invest your time in is very useful indeed. I had a look myself, here's what I found: So, as expected, non-active previous LEGO IPs are allowed, i.e.: Bionicle Dimensions Galidor Jack Stone Drome Racers Islands Extreme Stunts Lamborghini, Mercedes (but not Aston Martin, Bugatti, Caterham, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Ford, Mclaren, Volkswagen, Volvo) Some active IPs are allowed: Ninjago Nexo Knights Creator (Expert) Speed Champions Architecture Technic As an anime fan, I of course searched some titles: Allowed: Fairy Tail Gundam Macross Hatsune Miku Porco Rosso Castle in the Sky My Neigbor Totoro Not allowed: Fullmetal Alchemist My Hero Academia One Piece (I had a project planned for this...) Attack on Titan Sword Art Online Code Geass Neon Genesis Evangelion Movie and game licenses are outside my expertise, so I haven't looked into them all that much. Anyway, very useful indeed!

That's three times the answer I less expected, awesome! That sure makes it all the more impressive!

If "Dark Unicorn Bracelet" turns out to be only half as good as it sounds, it'd still be great.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
Exetrius replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
I don't see your point. The light grey barrel is a fairly generic part and is unquestionably non-licensed by nature, which means that it should become available through B&P. From LEGO's perspective it would only make sense to try to take a piece of the pie that would otherwise stay in the secondary market, by offering the grey barrel through B&P. This isn't about play, you know? A lot of AFOLs build MOCs, who sometimes find themselves requiring some specific parts to start, improve, or finish a MOC with. And I'm not going to buy the Harley Davidson if I were to only need the light grey barrel from that set. -
Now this is an inspired build! Btw, when I saw this on Flickr I had mistaken it for a Guilds of Historica build because of this. It somewhat reminds me of prehistoric stacked stone homes, I very much like it! The choice of context is also great, with the mostly barren land, some bushes and the small crop field. Great work!

Oh yes, the terrain and vegetation is great! The medium nougat is a great choice for the house and goes together very well with the different greens in this build. Two criticisms: firstly, I think the woodwork has too many studs due to the 1x4 plates. Secondly, the door is too.. striped, imo? Perhaps a more uniform, contrasting (not a brown, not a green) colour would do the trick.
-
Agreed, lovely colours and cool shaping of the roof! I like that wonky timberwork.
-
The attempt to go with a two-coloured roof should be appreciated, though I'd have to agree that it may have looked better if you chose one colour or the other. Or maybe do some sort of mosaic pattern, instead of random scattering of the two contrasting colours. Anyway, the shapes of the house look good, on the base as well. The green part of it is a little rough though, both in texture and in the transition to the dark tan part. A layer of green plates under the dark tan plates may improve that. Despite my critiques, it's a nice build and I like your build series! Keep it up!

Fantastic rendition of the myth! I have seen minifig scale versions of it, but not larger than that. Baba Yaga has a lot of character, thanks to the pose and the nose (I couldn't resist t let that rhyme). The terrain with it's textures, muted colours and moreover the large number of big trees really make the scene. Additionally, putting both the hut and the cauldron at an angle helps to make it feel even more natural. The hut itself looks superb, btw. I do have a few questions. First of all, is there no photo showing the whole build; is it not meant to be viewed in its entirety? Also, how is the hut held up, as it doesn't seem that the legs and the ladder carry that weight? And lastly, how could you so accurately determine how many pieces are in the build, did you make it in LDD first or did you painstakingly keep count? Keep up the good work, Janet!

Whoohoo! I voted for this and I really hope that, despite the track record of previous LoZ ideas that made it into review, this will make it through!

Latest impact of other themes on historic themes
Exetrius replied to Wardancer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I love that chainmail torso because it looks great and is very easy to make factions with (or add to existing ones) by swapping the arms. Last time a torso with this level of versatility (imo) was inroduced was in 2010, with the Kingdoms line. I'm talking about this one: https://brickset.com/parts/4586498/mini-upper-part-no-1623 -
That was my experience too with the Milan flagship store I visited in July. I think the combination of sunscreen and sweat on people's hands is causing the printing to wear off like crazy.

It feels like the amount of new hairpieces appearing every year has been doubling for years on end... That said, I see a lot of recolours too, which I really appreciate!

Rachel's looks to be the same as the CMF Vet (https://brickset.com/sets/71018-5/Veterinarian). To answer your question, I have spotted a golden Vitruvius beard on a statue in the HP advent calendar, which is awesome! See the image on this page: https://www.hothbricks.com/lego-75964-lego-harry-potter-advent-calendar-2019-encore-des-visuels/. Also, the Spring Yellowish Green hairpieces from Hidden Side and Parker's hair (Also Hidden Side), maybe? I'm out of the loop too...

Blue fire, aw yeah! On the other hand, I think it is going to be used more frequently as flowing water; it's just a great piece! -

Trans light blue plume!!! I've been waiting for that for years (I think I specifically mentiomed that piece in one of my earliest posts in this thread, need to dig that up sometime..)! Of course, the rest of the fig is fantastic too! -
Irissa's Origins - A Cyclopean hamlet in Nocturnus
Exetrius replied to Ayrlego's topic in Guilds of Historica
Same here, I'm glad to see another Cyclopean build and a continuation of the story! Let me know if this should be considered a settlement, because in that case I will add it to the Nocty Settlement Index. I'd need a name, though. -
Great ideas, especially if I picture then in the muted tones of this them, as opposed to how these appeared in City. Also, I'd add a haunted chemical/power plant and a junkyard to your list.

Latest impact of other themes on historic themes
Exetrius replied to Wardancer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
While I think we'd all like to see that here, I think they are experimenting with BAM as a way of releasing parts that many of us want but do not fit within the current range of themes. Anyway, wonderful shield design, I picked up four already! -
