  1. Yes! Finally the first official acknowledgement and reveal date. What a bizarre teaser though.
  2. Not to mention Resistance Bomber...with and without Finch Dallow
  3. Just watched the new trailer for The Mandalorian. If Lego haven’t got more Mandalorian sets planned I’d be very surprised. I’m excited to see what comes in 2020, it looks like the breathe of fresh air the franchise needs.
  4. That’s not what I said. What I said was “it could influence a purchasing decision”. Big difference. Of course no one would “refuse” a free set. But these promos are designed to get customers to open their wallet and the minimum buy threshold often makes people spend more than they normally would IF they perceive the promo to be worth it to them. I don’t know about where you’re from but in my country the minimum spend is usually at least double what it is in the US. When I can get 20-30+% off most non-exclusive LEGO sets any day of the week in local retail stores a “free” LEGO store promo has to tick all the boxes (pun intended) to make it worthwhile. You don’t think packaging matters? Then how do you explain people spending hundreds of dollars on Comic Con exclusives sets that can be bricklinked for a fraction of the cost. Horses for courses...
  5. I’m merely pointing out that packaging can influence how someone perceives ‘value’ and consistency can mean more to some than others. It seems odd to me that other 20th anniversary sets have the special packaging but not this. But if you want to judge go ahead...
  6. The AT-ST’s in the Endor promo set are cute but why aren’t they consistent with the 20th Anniversary box art? It might seem a minor detail but for a collector it might be enough to influence a purchase decision.
  7. I would be really surprised if we don’t see a leak 24-48 hrs before the official announcement. TLG must have really cleaned house!
  8. My thoughts exactly. This will definitely be a case where weight/volume will be more relevant than price per piece. I can’t wait to see it!

    LEGO Stranger Things Rumours Discussion

Oh great! I drive home from work and in that time it’s gone from coming soon to backorder. Typical of Lego Australia...probably had ~2 sets available.

It still isn’t available for VIPs on the Australian S@H website. I’ve tried logging out and logging back in but it didn’t work. Is it available online in other regions?

Expect to see a review over on Brickvault today and possibly elsewhere. They obviously sent copies out for review.

    LEGO Stranger Things Rumours Discussion

Given the teasers Lego has released on social media; the ‘classified’ photo, the 80’s-style commercial and now the phone ringing - it’s easy to see why they got so ansty about the leaked low res box images. I like the teasers, they are fun.
  14. ^Exactly that. The placement of it would seem a very deliberate choice given the rumour. For $100 I would expect the rumoured 2019 version to be more in scale with the Porg and BB-8, plus use more modern parts/be less ‘blocky’ than the one above.
  15. Cool! They do like to plant Easter eggs and this definitely looks like one. It even has a Vader ‘bust’ for reference.
  16. Bespin guards need transport too, at least the location is relevant.

    LEGO Stranger Things Rumours Discussion

Then why are you browsing/posting in a forum thread that is clearly labelled rumours if you view it as ‘wrong’? Bearing in mind that genuine rumours come from leaked information. Technically the official minifig image was ‘accidentally’ leaked but Lego seem OK with that. And if they genuinely thought that prerelease of information was bad then why tease on their Facebook page with an image they knew someone would decipher? I get why they need to try and stop employees and others in the supply chain from posting unofficial leaked images. But, at the end of the day we are talking about it & creating buzz; that’s good for business and TLG know that.
  18. The Droids look great! The price, while expensive, isn’t unreasonable. The original boost is $250 AUD for ~850 pieces and you can’t build all three models at time. Licensing fees would add to the price too.
  19. Australian S@H deals are live. Unfortunately none that I was hoping for. The sets on sale are FO Star Destroyer, FO AT-ST, FO Heavy Assault Walker, Luke's Landspeeder, Kessel Run Falcon, Sandcrawler, Imperial AT-Hauler, Imperial Conveyex Transport and Han Solo's Landspeeder. All are 20% off except the FO AT-ST (30% off) and the FO Star Destroyer (26% off). Double VIP points on all Star Wars Purchases. Sales may vary by region.

    Chinese New Year’s sets -2019

Ok, maybe my time were a bit off. I assumed it went on sale ~9 AM. It’s unusual for the local S@H sets to go live between 1-2 AM in the morning on the day of release.

    Chinese New Year’s sets -2019

Sure, but I was making a point about fair distribution, and to paraphrase TLGs press release you quoted, “...because of concerns from you, our dedicated and most loyal fans”. Why make the limit 99 when they know exactly what behaviour it will elicit? People will still have FOMO and 6 months gives flippers plenty of time to sell them at 2x+ rrp. It literally sold out within an hour.

    Chinese New Year’s sets -2019

People are posting smug images on FB of 99 sets ordered at checkout for a grand total of $7910.01 AUD...with free shipping. What the actual F&@k Lego?! Doesn’t sound like they are doing a great job of fairly distributing these now ‘non-regional’ sets at all

    LEGO Stranger Things Rumours Discussion

Curious that the leak has spawned from downunder...or ‘upside down’ to those in the northern hemisphere. And a Toyworld in Perth of all places.
  25. As I said, they’ve included exclusive minifigs with the microbuilds for recent Harry Potter and Marvel promotions so I can’t see it being a cost issue. And surely the cost of including ~200 parts (including increased logistics costs) outweighs the cost of printing on a 3-5 piece minifig. In all three cases the microbuilds have printed non-minifig elements too. I suspect it’s more a case of it’s still economically viable to not include a Star Wars minifig because Star Wars sets sell regardless, particularly with the hype of May 4th and co-offers such as 2x VIP points...and a poster.
