A terminal station (as opposed to the train stop we have available now) would be a really good addition; but I have seen a lot of good MOC terminals out there. I'd prefer to build my own, personally. A few good trackside industries would be interesting, but I dunno if they would otherwise be interesting enough for TLG to produce them. Probably another good MOC project. A good switch tower (AKA signal box) would make for an interesting model. A Technic bridge as well.

You stopped buying BEER!? Are you crazy!? Just kidding. I don't drink as often as my incredulous tone might indicate. I really don't think PF is going away anytime soon either. It's been perfect for playing with trains on something of a budget, and it works pretty well.

I only have four locomotives; 4563, 7939 and two MOC steam locos(one modified from 3225), but I have a vast (it may be more than 60, now) fleet of MOC freight and passenger cars. That does include a handful of color substitutions to TLG designs, but mos of it is purely my own designs. I'd like to share some with yunz if I ever get the chance to take some more pictures.

I would make a brick-built connection between the locomotive and tender. Effectively, that's how it is in real life. I'm working on such for my 2-6-2 Prairie right now.

Those colors are originally of the Illinois Terminal railroad. Illinois Terminal RR The Lime Light does remind me as well of the LNER green as worn by Flying Scotsman and Tornado at the moment.

Since it's a club presentation, it's probably from someone's personal collection. Also, I'm leaning more towards only wanting the locomotive from this set.

Waiting for a (couple of, come to think of it) paycheck(s) first. Silly things like car payments and student loans are getting in the way. I'm actually looking to order the Passenger Train and train station first.

I've never understood the reason this was done. Can anyone shed some light on that?

That $290 price tag sounds high, but if I recall, TLG tends to jack up the price for Australia... :/ US will probably be about $180-$200, like the old cargo train. If it does turn out to be above $200 in the US, my willingness to buy goes down about 1.5% for every dollar over that limit.

Because not quite everything of theirs is a pure 'copy'. If you look through the posted Brickshelf gallery, you'll see a dark green passenger train, for one (IMO the best) example. Also, some of the 'copied' designs are in alternate colors; such as the caboose.

While I personally wouldn't buy any of their actual bricks or sets, I do like the idea of taking inspiration from Enlighten's instructions. Unfortunately, their unique models aren't interesting enough to me, for the most part. I could see buying the track, however, perhaps as filler on hidden areas of a layout, or for modeling locales that would call for different color rails.

'Pacific' isn't a single class of locomotives, it's the nickname for the 4-6-2 wheel arrangement (UIC designation 2C1). Thus both the Gresley As like Flying Scotsman and the Pennsylvania Railroad's K4 class are Pacifics, despite being very different otherwise. Other examples of common nicknames for popular wheel arrangements would be 'American' for the 4-4-0 (2B), 'Consolidation' for the 2-8-0 (1D), or 'Northern' for the 4-8-4 (2D2).

That's how I've done it on both of my double motored locos. I imagine you'd have to do some modifications to one of the motors otherwise.

It looks like the standard buffer is part 91968, while the plow buffer is part 91966. I believe they are Buffers 1 and 2, respectively, on PaB.

7939 was about $180 in the US. I'd be willing to buy this set for the same price if it came with a decent track layout, and some accessory vehicles or trackside equipment. Remember, it was shown with a conveyor loader we hadn't seen before. It has the potential for similar playability to 7939; so if it's really priced similarly, I'd expect we'll see those features once it's officially released.

Finally! I've been waiting for this, after seeing it available for other countries! Now, when I buy my Maersk train and the 3677, I can pick up the equipment to motorize them right off the bat.

Some of the parts have come in, but I'm waiting for the final couple BL orders. even after that, I do have a little bit of detailing I want to do, but I need to look through my folders of steam locomotive pics for inspiration. As far as stickers, I've been considering stealing the big logo out of a 7938 passenger set for the tender, and a custom number. Also thank you! That huge tender is my only point of contention right now. I may be able to drop it by a plate, but that's all the farther. Still, it does look good and does the job. I also figured a big boxy oil tender would help to hide all the PF equipment a little better and more easily than a coal tender.

Hey all! Finally I have an MOC to post! This is my new 2-6-2 Prairie. It's been an LDraw file for a several years now, but only recently did I decide to take the plunge and actually build it. It's not exactly finished right now, as you can tell by the disjointed colors. The parts to replace those are on the way. Check it out at MOCPages: 2-6-2 Prairie (WIP)

The eventual layout I'm looking to build will be a floor layout, owing partly to the fact that Lego trains are still toy trains, and partly to the use of furniture and walls as scenery blocks. Just seems like a fun way to do it. Of course, that will have to wait until I can move into my own apartment...

For my part I still plan on buying the new Passenger train, as well as the Maersk train and this new set. Fortunately I'm about to finish up all of my MOC projects, and I can save up for these three. Someone mentioned that the set number indicates this would be an exclusive set. Exclusive to where? Any idea?

Whose layout was it running on? Was it built by Lego, or was it a club layout? It's possible that they gave an advance copy to the club, and it was a club member's decision to power it by 9V.

Amazing setup, Zueri! I love it! I wish I had that much track, and some time and space to work to go along with. Are you planning a freight yard anytime soon?

The catalog I'm referring to is the US January 2011 catalog. This catalog does contain the Hogwarts Express, but none of the City Train sets or the Toy Story 3 train. There is that conveyor loader model we've seen in a few pictures, and since we haven't seen any documentation, a likely track setup is impossible to guess. I still bet you a dollar it contains flextrack though. :/
