Neo-Classic Pirates: Black Seas Barracuda
Plaid Beard replied to BeardedNerdSE's topic in Pirate MOCs
I still remember the Christmas Eve all those years ago when my brother and I both opened our new Lego Castle sets at the same time, found the little booklet showing the sets coming out the next year, and there were pirates on the cover. Life changing moment. Getting the Black Seas Barracuda and the Eldorado Fortress were the two biggest highlights of my Lego building career, and they remain my favorite sets of all-time. I have a lot of the Lego Pirate ships now, but the BSB remains my favorite, both for its design and its sentimental value. You've done a wonderful job recreating it, and bringing back some wonderful memories for me. -
I like what you have done here, especially with the water. Any thoughts on using that technique on a bigger pirate scene, or are you planning to stick to smaller scenes like this?

Nice job! I got that SpongeBob set for parts, and I have yet to come up with an idea for how I can use the bow piece it came with.- 5 replies

I like what you've done so far. It's a bit larger than the frigate I'm working on, and it looks as though you got some of the issues figured out that I'm still dealing with in my build. Have you planned how you're going to do the masts?

This is a very good looking project! I especially love the guy digging out of his jail cell. Well done!

My favorite part is the guy trying to bail. Wonderful little detail. Fantastic job on this creation!

[LDD MOC] Vagabond - 16 gun merchant barque
Plaid Beard replied to Dunkleosteus's topic in Pirate MOCs
"Wow" doesn't begin to describe my reaction to this ship! I really like the way you did the gun ports - I never would have thought of that! This would be an awesome ship to build for real. -
I do like your barrel technique, and the fact that they are cooking Jar-Jar makes this even better (even though Jar-Jar left a bad taste in my mouth, at least).

I really like where you're going with this project, and I look forward to seeing more of it. You've also given me some ideas for ways to improve my own pirate tavern, which I have finished several times in the past few years but never managed to get just right. What really interests me is how easy you make it look - like your beach, it looks amazing and easy, but I've found beaches hard to do, so I'lI be borrowing your method, if that's okay with you!

This MOC amazed me. I'd like to echo the compliments on your cliff face design - I've never seen that color scheme before and you've executed it flawlessly. Well done!
