  1. All, After more then 2 year without working on a new Technic MOC I am now ready to present my new project: A classic roadster based on a Jaguar XK120. I managed to built it in white and separate the frame and the bodywork completety. Due to this there is also a frame version with full RC. It can be build in red and black as well without major adaptations. More pictures, video and instructions to follow.... Rebrickable instructions: https://www.rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-10690/martijnnab/classic-jaguar-roadster/#comments Blog from The Lego Car Blog: https://thelegocarblog.com/2017/11/02/it-doesnt-matter-if-youre-black-or-white-2/ Blog from The Brothers-brick: https://www.brothers-brick.com/2017/11/09/jaguar-roadsters-technical-challenge/
  2. Dont know the series, but it sure is a nice and compact recreation. Well done.
  3. Instructions for the manual version have been released on rebrickable: https://www.rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-10690/martijnnab/classic-jaguar-roadster/
  4. and brothers-brick.... https://www.brothers-brick.com/2017/11/09/jaguar-roadsters-technical-challenge/
  5. Model got blogged at the Lego Car Blog. Nice narrative.. https://thelegocarblog.com/2017/11/02/it-doesnt-matter-if-youre-black-or-white-2/
  6. Just finished the youtube video for the roadster. Hope you all like it..
  7. Nope, not possible in green. Yellow also not possible because of lack of 1x2 thin liftarms and very limited availability of nr 4 connector (which is really a shame!) Blue should be possible as wel if you replace the big curved panel by beams. Just don't have the parts to try that one out
  8. And here's the red one to complete the series. Pick the one you like most ...
  9. I got the suggestion to change the red interior to white to better match the white wheels. Am quite happy with the results. The red version is also in the making....
  10. Upon request the black version, now in combination with the RC chassis. It also has racing seats.... The RC receiver is hidden underneath the windscreen and especially icw the black version very difficult to notice. It can also be equiped with an sbrick... The chassis is only three studs thick in the back and the middle and as you can see a lot of space is taken up by the 2L motors and the servo.
  11. All, Thanks for the great comments. Suspension I couldn't fit in anymore unfortunatey The RC based chassis structure is only three studs high and needed to be fully self-supporting. Might be easier to add in the manual version as the RC is already heavily packed.. The black version as pictures is in the working. I will share it it's available. Just don't have the red wheels unfortunately
  12. The connectors were indeed a must to make the shell rigid by itself. It made the build much more complicated with lots of variation before it worked, but now I can easily switch bodywork colors and have a manual as well as RC version side-by side by just switching the frame...
  13. I just released on Rebrickable my Lego Technic model of a Rolls-Royce Phantom II Coupe [1934] The model is fully RC controlled and has back-side suspension, functioning side-folding bonnet, trunk, suicide doors and working engine. It is operated by 2 L-motors and a servo for steering. I build it in about 40 hr. over a period of 2 weeks and made instruction of it that are free to download from Rebrickable. http://www.rebrickab...m-ii-coupe-1934 Be sure to also check out my other models on Rebrickable. Update: Just have to add these incredibly nice renderings that jesuskyr made for me at his own initative. Thanks a lot for them. More pictures are in the later postings in this topic.
  14. Nice different model. Track make steering a bit difficult, but I am sure you can improve on that...
  15. Good idea. First I will finetune the rotary version as I think it can be made much compacter (less deep, from 5 to 3 or Max 4 studs, . After that balancing would be the next step..
  16. As first preparation for a Technic MOC of the famous Fokker Dr. I, I tried to make the most compact 8-cylinder radial engine (I know, it should be 9-cylinders...) See attached the solution I came up with, but with this size the model would still be 100 studs long/wide and this a bit too big to my liking after the huge Cadillac. If anybody has a solution for a working 8-cylinder that is smaller then this, please let me know. This one does howvever work quite nice also at high speeds (~1500 RPM) Instructions can be found on rebrickable: http://www.rebrickab...aircraft-engine
  17. Here is the upgrade to a rotary variation. Wasn't that hard actually, but requires a reverse of parts that are fixed versus rotating. By adding a turntable and driving that, it can be done. I made a small movie of it (not yet on youtube) where you can see how it works out then. Actually looks less impressive as you cant see the actual cylinder movement anymore (although it is there...) http://www.bricksafe.com/files/mfjnab/8-cylinder-radial-aircraft-engine/8-cylinder%20rotary%20aircraft%20engine.mp4
  18. Thanks, hadn't noticed that yet. Would be even more impressive to get working, so I started adapting it to rotary. I think it can be done with this setup, so I will post it if it works out OK.
  19. All, After 5 weeks of work and some sneak peeks on my WIP forum item, I finished my Lego Technic MOC of a Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz 1959 Convertible. The goal for this model was to squeuze as much as original details in this model as I could, and stay as close to the original design, incuding all the detailing of the chrome parts like the grill and striping on bonnet and sides. It resulted in a heavy usage of half-beams to get these details in. The model is RC controlled, with functioning steering wheel, running V8 engine, opening door with locks, opening bonnet and trunk, independent suspension on both axis and LED lights on both front and backside. It weighs about 2.4 kg and the dimensions are 68x25x16 studs (55 cm long) Update 23-05-2015 Instructions are now available on Rebrickable: http://www.rebrickab...o-biarritz-1959 For more pictures take a look at my Bricksafe page: I hope you like it. I do plan to make instructions for the model, but that will take some time. I will post it here if I have completed them and they are posted on Rebrickable. Be sure to also check out my other Lego Technic instructions on Rebrickable Martijn
  20. SilenWin, Thanks for sharing. Always fun to see others build the model. Shows my work of making and sharing the instructions is appreciated. Great edition with the black and red. Love it and sure look forward to your attempt to make it Mad-Max compatible!! Did you use an Sbrick as I cannot see the remote receiver anymore?
  21. Some beautifull renderings made by Blakbird, based on the model by Jesuskyr. Both guys, thank a lot for your support making these great digital representations!!
  22. Wow, Jesuskyr. Again what a great job and in record breaking time. Took you only 7 days to transfer the model to MLCAD, and does it look pretty!!!. As previously I am impressed and trulty gratefull for the effort you put in there!!! The pink is indeed the most brilliant. Clearly shows that Lego Technic is lacking one more primary color: PINK!!!! We should all petition for this. 정말 감사합니다 (Thank you very much!!)   Martijn
  23. I have been looking at a Jaguar XK 120, as its a very rounded model and I want to make it in white this might be a bridge too far, but we will see. Should be similar size as the Rolls. For PF sets I look for 2nd hand crawlers on marktplaats. For €100 you can get them while the PF set alone costs €80 in parts on BL.
  24. Most of you might know that prices of the red #3 connector 32016 have risen quite a lot since some MOC's came out that use them extensively. I recently released also instructions for a Cadillac that uses 25 of them. http://www.rebrickab...o-biarritz-1959 In the search to find alternatives I thought that the red toggle joint connector 32126 might be usefull, only to find out that these are also outrageously expensive: Current prices of these part on BL: 32016 red #3 connector: € 4,- each 32126 red toggle joint connector: € 5,- to 6,- each (and you need 2 to compensate for one 32016) I know the story also counts for some flex axles with even more ridiculus prices. Isn't there something that we can do to have Lego make these parts available through bricks and pieces. I did ask them once, but got a very neutral response.
  25. Agree, I know of several parts where just 50 - 100 people wanting to get the parts could already sky-rocket the prices. Not much you can do about that (expect further limiting the parts you use), but actively trying to make a profit out of it would sound like market manipulation and not done. However how do you prevent it....
