I will get around to photographing my various MODs and MOCs some day, but it will not be this day!

I tend to use the de-pinking shears on these sets. So I've got a big hoard of pink and magenta bricks that will get their own project sometime. The sinister pink bunker of doom!

The non bendable short legs always struck me as a bit of a cop out, but what I really despise is the 2x2 slope brick used for skirts. If they can make a Disney Princess sit down, they can make a bendable skirt piece for minifigs as well. The square brick just looks bad and all the female characters that use it are taller than regular minifigures. It's just silly.

The movie did well but the effect of it is limited. The Lego Movie sets have mostly left the market at this point. Demand remains high. They are doing a lot right, and I still suspect that the Friends series have something to do with this. They always had the boys and girls like me that like spaceships and such, but now they have the whole female audience. Judging from the amount of shelf space given to Friends, Disney Princess and Elves in the shops in my town (which is in Belgium, and things may be different elsewhere) these do extremely well. And most of this goes to buyers Lego didn't have 5 years ago. It's a new market added to the market share they already had.

Nice. More male characters, also female character with short hair would be welcome!

I think that the fact that they finally managed to find a decent way to tap into the female demographic has something to do with the current success. One thing that stood out to me in recent shop visits was how empty the "pink" Lego isle was. Especially many of the Disney Princess sets were hard to find. Really not my thing, but it seems these have found their audience. Especially anything involving "Frozen"!

Yes, unless the Star Wars movie is the Lone Ranger all over again. Anyway, it will be interesting to see what they run out off.

The shelves at my local toy store seemed to have a lot of holes in them when I visited yesterday. I'm not sure if this is the reason, but especially the Friends, Disney Princess and Elves boxes where thin on the ground. I wonder if there are any particular series that they have trouble producing enough of, or there is a shortage of everything?

I spotted the Sky Castle on sale somewhere for 57 euros instead of the 99 that it was initially offered for. So I brought it home. It's pretty neat, the portal function works well and love the little oven. It is rather one-dimensional I think, very flat and not meant to be seen from behind. Would buy again for 57€, but would not consider it for 99€.

...They are not evil, just a little misunderstood sometimes! I have amused myself by creating new Elves trough re-paints and mods of various minidolls. Hope you like 'em! Here's Gothic Gaby, with her cat Azrael, and Urban Ulla, with her boombox! And Metal Maggie, she's never far from a guitar. Freddie the Faun is a nice guy and not the least bit horny. And then there is Hipster Hannah, who works her way trough art school as a barista while wearing her ironic cat shirt. And finally- Wicca Gwendoline- this is her favourite time of year! And when it gets dark, they get together and make some music. Hope you like 'em! I

I just pop out the arms, Xaran. I know they look fragile but I haven't had one breaking on me yet. As for the legs, I use a small flat screwdriver as a lever to give me some leverage while separating the legs from the pelvis piece. Darkdragon, I would like to note the legs fix needs to be clamped together well while drying.

More messed up minidolls! I think there are not enough Elves in the world, so I made some more! Now, minidolls are tricky to decorate- they have tiny torsos and all surfaces are curved. It took lots of experimentation. These have all been repainted with nail polish, and a little bit of solvent based marker. I find that nail-polish is available inexpensively in many colours, stays on extremely well and is easy to remove. The surface of the plastic will never be the same, though, so be sure that you have no wish to recover the original look of the figure. There's a little faun, who wears the headpiece of the series 14 gargoyle. The eyebrow ridge has been carved down and painted, and made to look like hair. Hannah the Hipster chick wears an ironic cat t-shirt. This is a very small water transfer that comes from a shop that supplies materials to nail art professional. The same thing goes for all the other tattoos and shirt prints in this series. Also, she wears Legolas' wig, repainted and she has articulated wrists which makes her job as barista much easer. Series 14 witch hat with hair on the last figure, Wicca Gwendoline. This hat looks great on a minidoll, unlike the older no hair witch hat! Here's Gothic Gaby and her cat. The argyle pattern on her skirt is done with a different nail decoration technique- "Konad". This is a way to transfer a pattern etched in a metal plate to a curved surface trough means of a silicone tampon. Sounds complicated and it is kind of hard to get right. Her hair is a repaint of Legolas' wig. Urban Ulla loves her beats and wears a shirt with another water transfer. Metal Maggie is into loud guitars and tattoos! So, that's it for now. I do these re-paints with nail polish by the way. I have tried several different types of paint, but this is the only thing that stays on well enough- also very easy to remove when things go wrong! Unfortunately polish is not great for fine detail. For that I use a fine Steadtler lumicolor permanent marker. Also, a shop for nail professionals nearby provided me with extremely small water transfers. These were made to decorate nails, but I found they work great on Lego. Well I went to a toy shop today and fondled little packages. I felt very uncertain about it as it was my first time, but nobody even looked at me. Also, I was looking for the crazy witch, and she has this huge hat which narrows things down to packs with a huge bump, and then she has this big long thin broom, and also the cat. I got her right the first time, yay! I love her hat/hair combined piece. I bought it because I like to mod "friends" figs- and this one fits on a friends or elves or Disney princess figure perfectly. Also, there was no bump code on the package that I could find. But there was a number- 217B5. maybe that is of help?

I'm really loving your apocalyptic elves theme. Please do more!

Lovely detailed little build. I adore the Elves color scheme and this would make a nice addition to the line :)
