Any guesses? Some more clips from the movie Otherwise I'll add another movie clip if this one's too obscure

This is really lovely. I`m happy to see this site in MOC form. The design work on the wall next to the doorway is really interesting. I don`t think I have seen the use of the bottom of the bricks quite like that before.

Planet of the Apes?

Your flying pleasure craft is so clever! The design is very suitable for an inventor wind elf. I hadn't gave much consideration to buying the Creative Workshop before, but your MOC definitely encourages me to have another look at it. Thanks for sharing it.

Does anyone know if this site is reliable?
Iria replied to Yzalirk's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Just looking at the inexpensive prices on rare sought after sets, I'm highly skeptical right away. Everything seems to be marked as new, unopened. Shipping is extremely cheap and claims to be coming from the US, though it states it has UK domain. No reviews anywhere. This is the only thing I could find on them: From the website Scam Adviser, in summary: I would not trust them. -
Fireplace/heater remote with IR sensor?

I'm stuck on the 'metaphysical' aspect and how it relates to the other clues. Is it... A design? / An idea? Connections?
-
^I would say it's kind of cheating, though I don't really have a problem if it's taking a long time for the movie to be guessed (≥ day?) to allow some time for others to have a chance to name the title.

Yep, you got it. Your turn Daimar.

How long does it take for VIP points to be registered?
Iria replied to Sir Brickalot's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Variable. Mine will usually update right after the order has shipped. -
A cheese slope, really? Well at least I'm a green cheese slope.

Alright, here it is:

It looks like a religious movie. Is it 'The Last Temptation of Christ'?

How do you control your spending & what do you collect
Iria replied to Seeky's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I started getting back into Lego last here, so there was a tremendous amount that I wanted and so much to choose from. By my standards I definitely splurged this past year, but I cut back heavily on other non-essentials to not hurt the bank account. Right now I'd like to eventually collect all the Elves sets. I would have loved to have been able to buy sets from the Indiana Jones and Lone Ranger themes, but was too late. I'll have to be patient for more adventure themes. I can't agree more with this. I don't spend money that I don't have. Right now I'm limited to Lego gift cards given to me for during holidays. I also live in the small space that is shared, so I try to be mindful of that. Assuming I someday soon get a good paying job, I'll hopefully prevent excessive spending by rationalizing to my self that: -Lego is a want, not a need. There are more important things in life to be investing into (house, career etc.) -You can't fit infinite sets in your house and you rarely can display all the sets you own- make sure to save space on future sets that you'll surely want. -It's okay to not have every single set of a theme- pick the ones you love the most. Avoid a 'gotta collected 'em all' mentality, especially in regards to those never ending themes. (Note that the above refers to me. I don't judge others if they do differently and want to build a museum's worth of Lego ) -
Weird, because website still says "Available Soon". I'm thinking it is just a mistake and they'll likely correct it before they put out their stocks, otherwise 12.5% off a newly released set would be pretty decent. I'm still seeing the occasional Lego set at Target in the jumbled mess. Saw some large Chima sets and the Turtles Lair Invasion. They were marked 30% off last week. Just be careful if you find any while paying- I asked for the original price of should be a $24 city set - I was told it was $40 (The discount price was higher than it's MRSP!)

^^Yep, sail should be going other direction. Unfortunately the fabric of the sail is only printed on one side, so you end up having the sail backwards if you want to display the port side of the boat. --- Anyways, here`s my collection in its entirety:

^My mistake, I thought that was the two mats in BrickPreviews post. I see that on the other side it is much more land based with a nice lava section designed for the bakery. Thanks for the correction.
-
Thank you for sharing BrickPreviews. The mats look good, although a little crowded on the east side. There sure is a lot of ocean, but that makes sense, since the ship needs enough space to sail around. It's also nice to see the sets' sizes in relation to each other.

Finally got around to watching The Machinist. I didn't think it was that great. Christian Bale's mannerisms in the film reminded me so much of my former friend who had schizophrenia, which made the film almost uncomfortable to watch.

How do you prevent the dreaded "giant bucket of random legos"
Iria replied to Captain Pirate Man's topic in Community
Is the complaint about 'taking forever to find a piece in the bucket' just your complaint or both yours and your daughters? That will affect my answer. I'm not sure how big the mixed bucket of Lego at your house is, but would it be feasible to have a mixed bin just for your daughter? If she herself is interested in sorting, then I'd still recommend a 'low level' of sorting, for example a pile for basic bricks, a pile for plates, a pile for all the little pieces and a pile for other interesting bricks. The more categories a kid has to sort through, the less likely they will stay organize, especially when it's time to dismantle their MOC. For a lot of kids, I think having to go through a methodically stored system to get the piece you want would take away from part of the fun of playing with Lego. The act of having all the pieces in front of you and sifting through them can is part of the fun and stirs the imagination. It of course depends on the kid and their own play style, but I doubt I would have spent as much time playing with Lego as a kid if I had to open a bunch of small drawers and compartments just to find a compatible brick to a project. It would also have been a chore to have to dismantle my creation and sort all the pieces back to their proper place. It's so much easier to just toss the whole MOC back into the bin once your done playing with it. -
I hadn't. Thanks, I'll have a look at it. It's rare to find others who are familiar with it.

It's tough to narrow it down. I have a tendency to go for slightly dark movies or ones with bittersweet endings. My favourite childhood movie is "Return to Oz", the neglected Disney movie of 1985. It is a sequel of The Wizard of Oz, (based on the 2nd and 3rd books), but without all the singing/dancing/glitter. It's also quite a bit darker (The movie starts off with Dorothy being brought to a hospital for electroshock treatment to get rid of her bad 'dreams' about Oz). The villains are great in it. I have no idea how many times I've seen it, but I still love as much as I did as a kid. Other favourite movies include: -Rambo: First Blood -Once Upon a Time in the West -No Country for Old Men -Marathon Man -Batman Returns -The Blues Brothers -Tropic Thunder -Another Earth -Inception Not sure I can pick a single favourite character!

I'm not sure if it's official, but I keep finding August as the release month in all my searches.

Experienced collectors best way to build up colours?
Iria replied to PaddyBricksplitter's topic in General LEGO Discussion
There is PaB at Lego online shop as well as PaB at Lego stores. If you have a Lego store neaby I'd recommend checking it out (you pay for a small or large cup and fit as many bricks of your choosing from the PaB wall. This method is much cheaper than PaB online, but there is much less variety. Peppermint's suggestion about buying Classics is good too. Classic is a theme of Lego that has sells a variety of boxes with mixed parts. The price per brick is a bit cheaper than PaB online and most sets. Here is an example of the Lego Large Creative Brick Box from the Classics theme. It has a large variety colours. I bought some of these creative brick boxes last year when I started getting back into Lego, they are useful, though this years boxes look more useful (last year there were mainly basic bricks in the boxes, so this year looks better IMO). You should check out the other boxes in the Classics theme as well.
