great build. I like war hammer as inspiration too.. I am probably the only guy on Pintrest, but I use it for inspiration for many of my builds and war hammer is one of them. lovely work.

    Brickworld 2017!

I'll be going for the first time this year. Panic mode came when my daughter asked 'can you build the princess world you made last year' -a few weeks ago. Just got the final brickink order in so should be good
  10. My 9 year old son started reading Harry potter when school got out in May, and knowing that we were heading to Brickfair Virginia in August, wanted to build a Quidditch scene based on the second movie together. Many Bricklink orders later and countless hours studying screenshots from the movie and our finished product was displayed this past weekend. Below are some pics that I currently have, I took most before I left, I will probably set up again and photograph more detail, once I am unpacked. The Quidditch arena is almost 7.5 feet long, has 16 accurate towers as seen in the second movie with seating at the top, a passage way to move between stands and a stairwell to climb up to the stands and towers. I tried to capture the feeling from the movie in the stands, that are made with wood and have the House colours draped over the front, with you being able to see through to the bottom of the stands. The Quidditch rings are identical to the movies as much as I could achieve. I could not source a white flexible hose in the right length for the wrings, so I purchased black ones and then spray painted with regular primer and then scratched at them to give an attempt at a worn look. There are probably over 200 school children in authentic Gryffindor and Slytherin Lego minifigures (Capes are being added as I type for the next round of photographs). Most of the school teachers are present in the stands. There is a full compliment of 7 Gryffindor and 7 Slytherin Lego Quiddich players and an additional 7 custom Hufflepuff and 7 Custom Ravenclaw Quidditch Players. The field is striped with both regular green and bright green plates and tiles (bright green is pretty scarce). We have many other activities going on in the stands and outside too, with Cheerleaders, an appearance from Willy Wonker and Hermonie dropping all of her books. I hope you enjoy, thanks for taking the time to look. Cheers. Harry Potter Quidditch arena. Based mainly on the 2nd H.P movie we have accurately recreated one of the most iconic pop culture sporting arenas of all time. This was such a fun father/son project to complete and measures almost 7.5 feet long. by Martin Harris, on Flickr Harry Potters Quidditch by Martin Harris, on Flickr snitch chase by Martin Harris, on Flickr Harry Potters Quidditch by Martin Harris, on Flickr Harry Potters Quidditch by Martin Harris, on Flickr Harry Potters Quidditch by Martin Harris, on Flickr Harry Potters Quidditch by Martin Harris, on Flickr Harry Potters Quidditch by Martin Harris, on Flickr snitch chase by Martin Harris, on Flickr Any Harry Potter fans out there? :) by Martin Harris, on Flickr

    Mission to Jabba's Palace MOC

Here are some pics and links to more pics of My Mission to Jabba's Palace Moc. I Built this as a play set style Moc two days before Christmas so that my kids can play in Jabba's Palace, I spent the last two weeks or so sourcing the minifigs. Having shown the Moc at Brickfair AL and now taken the pics, my 10 year old son has corrected me on the fact that the blue lady behind Bobba is possibly a Jedi. I wasn't going to photograph and edit again, so please excuse that error and imagine it is a long lost sibling of her who is now a dancer in Max Rebo's band. The trapdoor is fully functional and lead down a tunnel that ends in the Rancor pit. Stair ways lead off the back and side in all directions, allowing for further add on's as needed. A few features I particularly like: The Red Blanket that Jabba sits on, it is a cape from one of those giant knight figures and Max Rebo's drum kit, this took a few hours to build but I love the effect that I achieved. As always, thanks for looking, I hope you enjoy, more images are on my Flickr via the links. Cheers. Harry Potter and the Hogwarts Quidditch pitch

Thanks, it actually has a little more room to grow for accuracy- which is being worked on at the moment and I will hopefully be able to share at Brickworld Chicago :) cheers

    Mission to Jabba's Palace MOC

Ha, how did you know? I had most but had to pick up a few, I was pleased because I had most stuff for this build already :) Thanks. Piece count is so hard- no real idea, once I had the layout though it was a fairly simple build, the upper half is mainly just a combo of tan bricks I had on hand and some tile.

    Rogue One Transport Ship MOC

So this is my Rogue One Transport Ship I built from scratch. PLease bear with me as this is the first large ship I have ever built from scratch - and I am working on my photoshop skills for rendering a backdrop. This is slightly off minifig scale form my calculations but works perfectly as a play set for my 10 year old son. The wings were a huge challenge, I think long run the best mechanism will be similar to that of the UCS shuttle. I had tried some different shaped technic hinges, but none were sturdy enough. I settled on the axles used in the at-at walker legs and they work perfectly. They are extremely strong and allow for simple maneuvering of the wings. They do however make you have to compromise a little on the wing design, but for my first effort, I was fine with that. The entrance door below the cockpit opens up and fits in a handful of rebels. Currently the cockpit does not have an interior but can fit in a pilot. I am going to redesign a few aspects, increasing the size of the ship and adding a viewable and functional cockpit. The Cargo was a real challenge and really it probably needs to be a few studs wider on either side. With an expanse of bright orange, it looked horrible so I softened it with white and then added burt orange tile. It may not be fully accurate, but it makes it more pleasing on the eye. Thanks fo looking, I welcome any suggestions, I will be letting my son 'blow it up' in a Star Wars game and I will go ahead and rebuild some more. There is a video on Beyond the Brick that shows it being displayed at Brickfair Alabama a few weeks ago on a Scarif scene, but I couldn't be bothered to make the palm trees again just for pictures. Please forgive me :) CHeers. 8ft Long Death Star Trench Run.

Here are some pics from one of my latest S.W projects. This is 8ft long and a labor of love. I have heavily modded/rebuilt the old x-wing, my Vader's Tie has the front canopy of the most recent one and the wing shape of the old one. I pretty much rebuilt the wings and rear section. The Tie's are just kit, I wanted to build my own or mod them, but after all this building, I frankly could not be bothered. Its built in 16x32 stud sections so can be transported easily, it is also lightweight and the walls fold down flat-ish. A few more pics are on my Flickr. I hope you enjoy. May the Force be with you. Battlefront is the best resource for Star Wars accuracy. That's what I told my wife after playing for 400 hours in the last 16 months

Thanks guys. Yes it does a little more, maybe two clicks...but that was going to be more challenging to fit in to photograph. Cheers :)

Ha. I'd love no studs. But the wings when using plates cause stud challenges

    Greebling

So I built a large trench run scene. It was 8ft and required a ton of greebling. I started by working the bigger pieces into the moc first, all over. then I built little builds with tons of detail, random but if similar size and scope. I then attached them, again all over the moc. Then I would take sections and have a bin of small parts and make random patterns ( is that even a thing). then I would fill in as much of the space as I could randomly. Tedious tedious work but so worth it. to summarize- I built in layers in different sizes. Good luck.

    Rogue One Transport Ship MOC

Cheers mate Thanks. The inside isn't too fancy- just the ramp and then the hang out area. The roof of the cockpit lifts off, but it's not finished inside, I am going to work on redesigning that, there is room to do it and connect the two, when I was building I built more for structure than inside design but I can see now what I can do to change that.

    Mission to Jabba's Palace MOC

Thanks. It is expanded from the 'set'one in size but I like the red knights cape as a blanket the most :) I spent a fair bit of money picking up all the aliens, I do also loveg effect though. Cheers
