    LEGO Dimensions Physical Brick Discussion

We have had the most reliable insiders on this site say time and time again that there aren't any more DW Dimensions sets coming. I have no idea why this is even still a discussion, or why the mods have allowed it to go on this long. Personally, I love the idea of Dimensions not going back to the well with additional waves of sets from themes they've already done. I'd much rather have Dimensions either serve as a way to provide an additional minifig or three for new "one-and-done" themes, like Original Ghostbusters or Doctor Who, or to give us some figs for themes that they aren't going to build full sets around, like Portal. If we're only going to get ~15 Dimensions minifigs per year, I'd rather get ones that give us something truly iconic that won't appear in regular sets.

So, if I'm understanding you right, Deadpool is going to appear in an upcoming Elves set?

Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Discussion

Right, but you also said that a month after you said that Jafar wouldn't be part of the series. And this was also about a month after you said that Two-Face or the Ventriloquist would definitely be in a DC Super Heroes set this summer. I'm assuming that you're not someone who just makes up rumors for attention, but whoever you're getting your information from is pretty unreliable. Ultimately, I guess it doesn't really matter if you're unintentionally passing along bad information. It's not like having advance notice of something that's just going to be officially revealed eventually really does us any good. But it does get people's hopes up, and that's kind of lame. Anyway... Back on topic: something that's NOT lame is this series of minifigs! The only one that doesn't quite work for me is the Genie, but that may change once I get to see him in the flesh... er, ABS. I think they did a great job of casting a wide net across Disney's huge range of properties. If it sells even halfway decent, this could easily be an ongoing annual series. There are literally dozens of A-list characters to headline it, and so many cool supporting characters for collectors. (The Cheshire Cat is literally one of my favorite Disney characters; so glad he's in the first series!)

He hasn't had a great track record lately. His Super Heroes leaks were way off too.

DC Superheroes 2016 - Rumors and Discussion

I'm sure if Lego had some data that showed that a lack of leg printing or single-molded legs negatively impacted sales, they'd be using it for just about every fig. And I'm sure that they've run some A/B sales testing on it. The vast majority of their consumers don't care, either because they're 10 years old, or because they're the parents of 10-year olds. And I'm guessing that at least half of the AFOLs who complain about single-colored legs still wind up buying the sets with the figs in them anyway. So if you're Lego, what's the incentive to go through the expense of including a feature that probably doesn't impact sales figures or customer satisfaction in any meaningful way? I just built a bunch of minifigs out of spare parts, and I was actually kind of annoyed by how many combinations of legs and torsos didn't work together, precisely because of leg printing/dual-molding. It's great if you only intend to assemble the figure as sold. But it's a real limit to the interchangeability of the parts.

DC Superheroes 2016 - Rumors and Discussion

That reads like a non-answer to me. Lots of hedging in there: "information on current products only" ... "as of right now" ... "no plans to offer it... at this time" ... "could change in the future." I seriously doubt they would have gone through all the trouble to give it the usual polybag packaging and a set number if this wasn't going to make an appearance in some other sort of promotion this year. SDCC exclusive figs don't come in polys; I don't see why they'd do it for this one.

    Simpsons 2015 Rumors and Discussion

Anyone can start a rumor, and as long as there are people who want to believe it, they'll hold on to any hope they have. But there's been zero credible confirmation of any more Simpsons LEGO, as far as I've heard. And some folks who are pretty reliable sources have flat-out said that Simpsons is done, at least for the foreseeable future.

Yeah, in the U.S., at least, the March promos are just a Ninjago poly and 2x VIP points. I'm guessing TLG didn't feel like they needed to have an additional incentive to drive Batcave orders, since double points usually does the trick for the big ticket items.

Man, I hate to even re-open this can of worms, but is it possible that the Batman Beyond-ish Batman minifig that inspired the "real or fake" debate was the test torso for Red Hood? And they just stuck a Bat cowl on it to misdirect? http://assets.epicbricks.com/img/fake-batman-minifig/RealFake2.jpg

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion

I used to work with a major video game company on new games before they came out. They were really good at preventing leaks by planting unique false rumors with different sources. If those wound up repeated online, it was pretty easy to figure out where they came from. Not only did it discredit the leaker, it also resulted in at least one employee being terminated for leaking confidential information. I wonder if this is something that TLG is doing to clamp down on leaks. I hope no one loses their job over this.
  18. I think this has already been mentioned, but the licensing fees for this set must have been much higher than usual. DC Comics (owned by Warner Bros) owns Batman, but 20th Century Fox and Greenway Productions jointly owned the 1960's TV series. Greenway's ownership stake was fragmented after the owner died, and it took years and years and years to work out a deal to release the series on home video. Fox and Warner Bros eventually worked out a split ownership/royalty stake, but it was a giant headache. And I'm assuming that they have to get a larger share of the royalties (because they have to be divided up). If this was a non-1960's TV series Batcave set, I bet it would be priced between $200-250. This article has a great recap of how convoluted the whole thing is. Warning: contains lawyers - http://www.wired.com/2014/11/batman-home-video-finally/

    Simpsons 2015 Rumors and Discussion

My guess is that sales were disappointing. Two weeks ago, my local Fred Meyer (U.S. department store chain) had Series 1 Simpsons discounted to $2.99 per pack. I'm sure LEGO didn't lose money on the theme, but it occupied a spot on the product release calendar that could have been filled with something that would appeal much more strongly to their core demographic.

Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Discussion

The thing about rights issues is that they can almost always be solved with the application of large amounts of cash. And considering that we're talking about the world's largest toy company and the world's second-largest media conglomerate, I don't think they'd have any trouble putting together a deal that everyone would be happy with.
