  2. My entry for Challenge 11. A really quick build largely inspired by part of this concept art. Great to build something for Kaliphlin again!

  6. Winter time means castle building time! Isaac and I collaborated on this tavern, building it over a three week period. Building time was pretty sporadic in those weeks due to the holidays, but we had lots of fun with it. We were primarily inspired by this artwork from Jinwon Yun. All the windows are lit to add to the inviting warm look contrasting with the frigid winter environment. It is an entry into the Trading Places category of Brickscalibur and the Miscellaneous category of Guilds of Historica anniversary challenge. We’d be curious to hear if you can pick out what sections each of us built! The Wayfarers’ Den is a well known tavern nestled into a wooded valley near the crossroads between Valholl, Omurtag, and Daydelon. Being a full day’s journey from the nearest town, it provides a natural rest point and warm refuge for the tradesmen and travelers trekking through Mitgardia’s frigid mountains. And with its well equipped larder and large central hearth, customers are often tempted into staying an extra day or two. While Glorfindel has often stopped there on his journeys, he always eagerly welcomes the sight of its sturdy walls amidst the pines. Due to his young age, Eryl has seen comparatively few taverns. And most were modest affairs when compared to the Den's three stories. His first visit was an experience he will always remember. Cold and exhausted from a day's journey, he was relieved to hear Glorfindel say they would stop for the night. So weary was he , that he hardly noticed the inn until a stable hand helped him off his horse and urged him indoors. The warmth, light and laughter inside quickly reinvigorated him - along with a heaping helping of stew. The night progressed and he listened in rapture to Mitgardians from all over the country swapping stories and telling tall tales. Finally he followed Glorfindel upstairs and tumbled into a bed beneath thick furs to sleep soundly. Thanks for looking, feedback always welcome!

    Kaliphlin concept art

Haha, whoops, should have stuck those in the Avalonia thread... A few more that are Kaliphlin-themed, if you want to try them - really appreciate you doing all these! Medieval Arabian city gate with bazaar Medieval Arabian Vaulted Map Room Medieval Arabian Vaulted Throne Room Massive Medieval Arabian Great Hall Medieval Middle Eastern Cathedral Interior Those last 4 are different variations trying to get a grand interior, similar to something like these builds: (But Kali-style, obviously.)

Thanks a lot, there's some fabulous inspiration here! Was curious how it would do with some of those prompts, particularly the goblin mine, as that was definitely a complex one. Still pretty happy with the results though Here's a few more ideas to try: Medieval village in autumn forest with stream and bridge Tree top elven kingdom with birch trees and waterfalls Foggy ocean shore with sharp cliffs and medieval lighthouse on top

Lots of fantastic inspiration here, thanks Gideon! Here are a few suggestions for prompts: Mediterranean vineyard with villa and outbuildings in gentle rolling landscape Underground goblin village with crystal mine and waterfalls Rice terraces in foggy wetlands with medieval village Underground Forest Elven Halls with twisting trees and bridges (similar to my Kolgari Throne Room):

Celebrating Guilds of Historica, final contest!

Here's my entry to Category C: Miscellaneous:
  19. Built for the Return of the G.O.A.T. contest on classic-castle. I chose to revamp set 6079, Dark Forest Fortress. My version features all the functions of the original, including hidden treasure in the bottom of the carriage, a working ramp to access the stable, working catapult, and of course a crashing tree function to barricade the path. I also added another hidden treasure chest underneath the stable. I’ve always liked the Dark Forest sets, so it was a fun challenge revamping one – though I admit trying to emulate the look of a raised baseplate was certainly a challenge at times! Check out all the functions in the video: Lots more pictures on Brickbuilt. Thanks for looking, C&C welcome

Pumpkin Pie Master - Nocturnus Nocturnus is famous for it's pumpkin pies, but it takes a steady hand, nerves of steel, and a good dose of luck to survive as one of Nocturnus' fabled pie bakers. To become a true pie master you must develop your own variation of the deadly pastry. Because of this, the exact recipes are fiercely kept secrets... You will never know what is actually put into your pie. Stone Mason - Mitgardia Mountain giants aren't all fearsome brutes. Some turn their immense strength to more productive ends, like this skilled stone mason. Orym enjoys solitude and tends to work alone with only his dove as company. Author/Philosopher - Kaliphlin Irène is a renowned member of the University of Petraea, an expert in literature, and an extremely persuasive writer in her own right. Her works often spark heated debates, as she never shies away from controversial subjects. Elven Seamstress - Avalonia One of the finest seamstresses in Avalonia, Elalen pairs the finest quality materials with her expert craftsmanship. Anything made by her will not be cheap, but surely worth every copper! Minotaur Florist - Nocturnus Rutrus has a deep love for plants, and cultivates some truly magical (and enormous!) blossoms. He's an incredibly patient individual, so long as you don't trod among his flowers! Beast Slayer - Mitgardia Bondric Darkmaster first made a name for himself as a young dwarf by slaying a massive cave spider that he stumbled across while mining. Since then has made a profession out of slaying dangerous underground beasts and always takes payment in the form of precious metals and gem stones, which he has amassed quite a collection of. Orc Farmer - Kaliphlin "Those pesky camels have been eating my hay again! I wish those noble snobs would keep a tighter rein on their mammals!" Bakh is a hard working orc who owns a small homestead in northern Kaliphlin, and has a strong disdain for those who don't respect his animals and crops. Makes hay while the sun shines - which in Kaliphlin, is, well, very often. Alchemist - Avalonia Geffery can usually be found in one of two places - in his shop reading books and experimenting with new potions, salves, herbs, and remedies, or travelling to help those who are sick. The results of his work speak for themselves, and many come from great distances to seek his aid for loved ones suffering from serious illness. Extravagant Fop - Varlyrio "Spare no expense, I can afford it. Just look at these goats - the finest in the land." Incredibly rich, and well known for his lavish tastes. His parties are legendary, and getting an invite is quite a plus for your social standing. Cyclops Innkeeper - Mitgardia Has established a well respected tavern especially notable for its peaceful atmosphere. Arguments somehow never turn violent under his singular, steady gaze. Spice Merchant - Kaliphlin "Take a whiff of this - aren't the notes of lemon and the tanginess exquisite?" Transports the most exotic spices and fragrances from Kaliphlin to rich clients in other guilds. Now owns his own caravan and looks to expand his route in the years ahead. Fairy - Avalonia Azalea is an incredibly gifted musician who spends most of her time with the baby dragon Lindras. She discovered Lindras as little more than a hatchling, and has cared for her since. Local rumor has it that you can hear beautiful, otherworldly music when wandering through southern portions of the Enchanted Forest. Beast Master - Alnya Felisa spent much of her childhood in the forest, and now counts the woodland creatures as her closest friends. Others from her rural village often seek her advice if they're having trouble taming their livestock, or need help treating an injury. Artist - Varlyrio Having a portrait painted by Gerardo is something only the most affluent can afford. Though tales say that as a child it was his attempts to forge some valuable artwork that first caught the art world's notice - and the attention of the local magistrate. General Store Owner - Avalonia "Two bundles of carrots and a bag of flour? Coming right up!" Alenia accepts only the finest and freshest produce from her suppliers, which when coupled with her cheerful disposition makes her shop of one the most popular in town. Wizard - Nocturnus Poof "Did it work?! Why can't I see anything? Are you there Froggy?" Wizardry can be a dangerous task. Mess up and, well, I think you can see the consequences. To this day there still are rumors about what may have caused the strange and sudden disappearance of Rolyn the wizard.... A shot of the whole group: Really enjoyed putting this series together, and seeing what all of you are coming up with for this challenge as well. Some fantastic entries so far! C&C welcome as always, I would love to hear which ones are your favorites!

    Allanar Mine

I originally started this build back in the end of November with the intention of entering it into the Colossal Castle Contest. But, life got very busy, and I ended up running out of time. So when they extended the deadline to January 31st, I used that as motivation to finish the half-completed monstrosity that was taking up the majority of my desk. There are still some things I would revise a bit if I had more time, (particularly some of the interior areas) but all in all I’m very happy to have it finished! And I’m also super glad to have finally done another sizable build set in Allanar Forest. The build was inspired by this wonderful artwork by Myoung Hoon Park. The Dwelves’ primary mine is located on the west edge of Allanar Forest. These days Goren generally oversees mining operations, but the massive lodge is used for much more than just mining. Added on to and repaired many times over the years, the structure is a welcome sight for any dwelves traveling through that part of the forest. From offering shelter and accommodation for hunters, to warmth and a hearty meal for herdsman moving animals between pastures, the ancient building is a true landmark and great place to meet with old friends. More on Brickbuilt. Phew, it's been far too long since I posted a build here in the guilds! Hopefully it won't be quite as long before I have another build to post here. Hopefully Thanks for looking, C&C welcome!
  22. I'd rather not think about how long it's been since I last posted one, but I finally have a new free-build up
