  1. Sorry if I am asking for information that nobody knows or is free to share yet, but do we think the gearbox issue is the type that Lego might address and fix down the road? Like a Wall-E neck situation where Lego fixed the issue with different parts? I'm not familiar enough with the gearbox issue speculation to know if my question is a sensible one or not. I hear people talking about the gearbox issue and I'm curious. Does the gearbox issue affect whether you buy the set or not at all, or whether you buy it now versus later? Also, is the review embargo over for Jim and Sariel as soon as the clock hits June 1st their time? I appreciate the amount of time put in to making the reviews, and it's not my intention to pester regarding them, I'm just curious. It'd be cool to see the reviews before going to bed or wake up and look at them before heading to the Lego store when it opens.
  2. Seriously. He doesn't stop does he? And yet I still continue to check this thread to see if the new discussion is relevant to the BWE http://giant.gfycat.com/WildDistinctKangaroo.gif
  3. No problem hadidi1999. I feel bad for saying "axle theory" makes no sense. I was trying to poke fun at myself, not you. It's so hard to tell if people are serious over the internet. For the record, I was joking about the set coming in multiple colors. It's certainly possible it will happen, but doesn't seem likely to me. That said... here's how it would work. The Porsche box comes with all the internal parts (blacks, greys, etc.) and Lego ships the orange/red/yellow parts to the store. You pick a color and take those parts home when you buy the set. When you get tired of your Porsche being red, you take the red pieces back and trade them for the orange ones. So you only get one color at a time, but you can swap it for other colors when you want. Now that it's been said, I'm sure we can all agree that this is clearly how it will be done.
  4. Absolutely right Jim, sorry to misquote you. Not sure why I thought "axle theory" made sense. TLG has an axle strategy, and all we have is "axle theory" We'll certainly see what the axle situation looks like once the 2H sets get released. The new axle colors don't keep me up at night, but I can't help but be curious about them in my new sets when I see them. Part of me wants to wildly speculate about the Porsche being available in multiple colors (red, orange, yellow), hence the new axle colors, but I know we all like to keep speculation out of these threads... The new topic you created makes for interesting reading.
  5. Ha, am I? I wasn't aware that green and white ones exist, though I shouldn't be surprised. I've only been interested in Technic for the last couple of years, so my parts bins don't have any older stuff. Unless you mean flex axles, which I have a few red. It was a somewhat lighthearted complaint. Having more colors is very useful, but it's just another Lego thing to spend money on. Having two or three red axles doesn't do me a lot of good. In terms of the color varieties being useful. if the Porsche is orange, it might look very nice to have some orange axles. If the Porsche is black, it would look very terrible to have orange axles exposed... I also noticed the change to red and yellow isn't happening evenly, which increased my curiosity. That's why I wanted to hear the thoughts of the group. I'd be interested to hear Jim weigh in on the new "axle theory" he referred to in his review of the Idea's Maze. I have trouble imaging Lego switching entirely away from black and grey.
  6. Why you do this Lego?? Sorry if this is the wrong spot to post. I know I've seen color vomit discussed elsewhere, but I wanted to ask about it in relation to the 2016 2H sets. It makes sense for there to be yellow axles for the BWE rails and parts of the Volvo, and orange for Volvo and maybe Porsche?? I don't know why they are doing red. Is Lego switching over to these axle colors entirely, or does it seem to be limited to some sets only? Any idea why they would switch from black and grey? For reference, my red and yellow axles come from 42044, 42048, and 76046.
  7. Does anyone else have issues with a small horizontal crack on the front of the shark guy's nose? I have two sharks and gave away one other, and two of them had the crack. The other has what looks like a seam, but it isn't actually split enough to be called a crack. I can post a picture once I get home, but my cell phone may not provide the best quality. I may swing by the store and try to get another shark and see if it has the same issue.
  8. I've been wondering the same myself. The amount of balls available at Bricklink (and the prices) makes getting started a bit daunting. Do note that you can use the new soccer balls that came in a few Friends sets a few years back, but that only increases what is available by a littlee. Currently you can buy them from Bricks and Pieces for 91 cents each... I'm not sure how realistic a hope this is, but I think Lego has a real opportunity to do GBC builders a favor by including a decent quantity of Lego balls in the upcoming Lego Ideas Maze set #21305. I certainly hope it will have more than 1 or 2.
  9. The model there is a MATTE black instead of the glossy black that Lego parts usually are. I really like the look of the car in matte, but don't expect it to be like that. I personally do hope that Lego produces it in black, as I think that will be the best color for hiding gaps between the panels.

Special Lego VIP Shopping Event 2015

Ah. Thanks for clarifying for me! I feel a bit silly for not thinking about that, but also a bit justified in my confusion. They could have put "Please call this phone number to RSVP" or such. I am on good terms with my local store's manager, and he gave me an invite for the event (from a discretionary pool of invites, I believe). See you guys there.

Something about that invite troubles me. Does anyone know how to actually RSVP for the event? Looking at the invite that, it request you to RSVP, but I don't see where it actually tells you how to do that.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here

Has anyone noticed that the new storm troopers from the Force Awakens sets all have white hands now? They are probably more accurate now, but it is a bit jarring to see the white hands, because the Lego troopers have always had black hands going back to my childhood. I don't mean this as a complaint, just an observation, and something I missed in pictures and only realized after buying the new sets. Has anyone else noticed this or been bothered by it? http://imgur.com/jbdWWnv
  13. As a (relatively) new Technic collector who doesn't have enough XL motors yet to recreate some of the MOC's made by this community, I misread this as "discontinued" and had a small heart attack. On the topic of new RC parts, I would love a new version of the old buggy motors. People do some really cool stuff with those motors, but I am doubtful I will ever purchase any for myself, based on current aftermarket prices.
  14. Please do keep going Blakbird. I'm going to show your incredible animations to my brother who doesn't "get" Lego, but is very interested in helicopters. Then we can both have our minds blown together. As a side-note, I'm not very knowledgeable about mechanics like most here, but it was threads like this that got me very excited about collecting Technic. Buying official sets and learning some concepts is great, but then having access to the parts to build the MOC's from the community here and learn even more complex concepts, that is awesome. It helps me appreciate the value of having a Technic parts collection. It is very cool how the community here is so dedicated to building accurate models, and then showing the functions of the models and teaching others how they work. I'm a huge fan of the work you guys do, and hope to start building the MOC's from guys in this community soon.
  15. As someone who has only recently gotten into Technic, this got me thinking. Is there a reason Lego stopped making the RC sets and motors? Do we know that Lego won't be making them again, or is it possible for new Technic sets to have the RC motor? I'd love it if 2016 included a set with the RC motor. In case I'm not using clear wording, I am talking about the RC buggy motor that runs much quicker than the power functions motors currently available, and is expensive for a Technic beginner like me to get a hold of...
