    MOC UCS Tie Bomber

Hi, inspired from the 10175,7181 and the fantasic Tie Fighter MOC from Anio, I decided to make the "next" part of the TIE fleet. I like the Bomber, that's why now it is one ;-) I still have little probs with gray, gray and gray, but I think Bricklink will solve such problems. Here we go:

[UCS MOC] Escape from Docking Bay 327

In 2008 I got my 10179 Falcon, and gave it a “home” I have documented at my germlish blog hudecity.de (Brick Wars: Darth Vader Go Home! german, sorry google translator sucks!). This “home” wasn’t really what I wanted to do, to display the best Star Wars LEGO set ever, but for me there was no better way... in 2008. In those days i wrote: [... My first plan, to display the Falcon scale UCS hangar Docking Bay 327 from the first Death Star, crossed the Lego Digital Designer. After I had designed first walls and a gate for a ground plate of 90cm x 100cm, there came the "Calculate" and "Order" button. Lego wanted to see almost 500 € for this few parts... and... Intention Deleted! ...] Yes, and that was it for that time. "At that time TM" I was inexperienced AFOL and a MOC rookie after his Dark Ages. And maybe even not (again) so LEGO addicted as I am today. Well, that was just ... Then! Since that day I looked at my falcon home, and thought to myself constantly ... "Eventually, yes surely, sometime there WILL be a hangar project" Now, exactly in Mai 2011, there was this time. Fortunately, in the years I often knitted various parts of my docking bay in MLCAD and LDD, so I could order first parts for my prototyping of walls and the stargate very fast via bricklink. That was in the beginning of June, at the beginning of my summer holiday. The first order was wrong, totally wrong. At first I planned to build the hangar in “NewLightGrey”, and this color was my first BL order... But Off the shelf "Where least expected it," there came a sidekick from my wife. The argument was clear and easy: "If you build the whole thing in NewLightGre”, no one will see the NewLightGrey Millennium Falcon in your diorama.” *silence* “Yes wife, you're right.” So new plan: Everything was to do NewDarkGrey. Definitely looks better classes. Thank you honey! Even for the more difficult procurement of parts in Brick Link *cough *. I started building my Docking Bay 327 “Escape to Falcon” from scratch, only with a few screenshots from Episode IV and this picture from google. (Copyrights and every other right of the pics belong to George and Lucas Arts!) Source: Google Pictures): Because of the existing project and the existing plexi glass cover I was a little restricted in my possibilities and had to get everything onto a wooden plate of 90cm x 100cm. That is four 16×32 LEGO base plates and six 48×48 base plates which had to get cut a little. In the height I had 36,5cm. Before I stop boring you with long stories I have to show you the hard facts of my little project: Project Name: “Escape from Docking Bay 327” Original Scene from Star Wars Episode IV Internal Working title: “Go Home Darth Vader IV- or: But now the hangar” Realization time: “June 2011 - November 2011” Used Bricks: “About 10.500 Parts, worldwide ordered via Bricklink” Total Costs: “About 1.000 €” Used LEDs: “55 white 10.000mcd, 10 red 8.000 MCD and SMD LEds, and 2 white SMD LED” it is on youtube, too - watch the LEDs in action! I hope you enjoy it the way I do ;-) Regards, Spacedaddy of Darth Tom: Spacepilot3000

Hangar 327 Escape (Collectors Edition) - EPISODE IV

Hmmmmm, sorry Dude. You want to sell that baby? Sounds bad for me. That Hangar looks 90% like mine Escape from Docking Bay 327 from 2011. Many, Many Details are exactly 1:1. OK, thats no problem for me, but if you try to sell it as YOURS, that makes me a little bit.... uh I don't know.......
  5. Hmm, I am using Yosemite now, and today I found my LDD crashing on saving. Is this the only thread regarding this error? I wonder how many people may have this bug.... Very strange. Has anybody an update??

MOD: 10173 Holiday Train whith PF

Good Morning Eurobricks, while it is frosty cold outside here in northern Germany I have built the 2010 "around the christmas tree" train track the last few days. At the fanworld in cologne I got a 10173 holiday train, wich is the wonderful addition to my christmas diorama. Last year I got the Emerald, and therewith I got the PF system and non 9V tracks... S@H had the following, to get me happy: Power Functions Infrared-receiver No.: 8884 Power Functions cable No.:8886 Power Functions LED-Lights No.: 8870 Train Motor No.: 8866 My plan was to assign the motor to the holiday train tender like done here: http://www.carolinatrainbuilders.com/index.php/2007/12/powering-the-10173-holiday-train/ but because of the cable connector I had to make my tender a bit longer than in original. My version, actually there are missing the side parts of the motor I still have to order - so it is a little bit naked ;-) Adding the LEDs to the small train wasn't easy. I think I've done it without too much modding: I the used the passenger car to hide the IR receiver and the battery, but here is room for improvements I think... For now my version is working for me, but there are still problems to solve. For example - when i build too sharp curves or run the train too fast the cables "tender to lok" and "tender to passenger car" are levering the engine out of the track. Normally here I would say the engine isn't heavy enough. I try to solve that today... Nice Sunday for everyone! Space

    Finishlast Christmas 2013 - Re-Reloaded

And there will be a problem powering 62 LEDs. The Arduino only gives 80 mA output. Every single LEDs needs 20mA. That is much more than the Arduino can deliver. So you have to deal with an own attached power circuit, like even we did. This brings back the problem of not being able to make free programs with the Arduino. I have tried to take an Arduino board as base for this challenge, but I decided back to the classic circuits after calculating needed space, transistors and resistors. It may be an idea to get the Arduino powering up the Lego motor with code for step motors. So we are able to write a carrousel "driving program". But in the other way that is much money for this little function. And the motor switch from finishlasts post above will be the better way. ... And now I have to get a carrousel turning around...

    Finishlast Christmas 2013 - Re-Reloaded

HO HO HO! YES. After burning some parts for lunch today with finishlast, we have now regulated speed, and 25.000 imported italian(?) lights: Next step for me is to get the powered something to turn. The rest is business as usual. LEDs, LEDs and more LEDs. 45 days??? OH ... my *waitforit* ... Goodness!

    Finishlast Christmas 2013 - Re-Reloaded

Uh, oh, finishlast - found the topic today. Folks, get a house, get a son, and you have no time for nothing anymore. finishlast is 1 million steps away from my status is soldering and do magic lightning... But here's the little motor stress test on youtube: And the this is the other way of blinking: And here you can see the results of soldering 2010 - 2012. That's the "big diorama". The new set has to fit into ... (The whole christmas wonderland of finishlast also looks this way....) Uhoooh, finishlast how many weeks until christmas are left?

[MOC] Mos Espa Podrace - Layout from Fanwelt Cologne 2012

This Scene is so huge. You can't really realize that from the pictures. I proudly put the roof of the main tower on top together with Hendrik at the Fanwelt, and just the one roof part was "so" heavy. Very, very outstanding! @Hendrik - Did you get all the dust off your MOC? I was cleaning my little hangar for about 30 minutes... I don't want to think about your amount of time for cleaning your parts... Spacie

[UCS MOC] Escape from Docking Bay 327

Yes, cabinets and shelves are "Expedit" and "detolf" from IKEA . This Expedit stuff is perfect for displaying LEGO, and it is also possible to reconstruct the shelves.

[UCS MOC] Escape from Docking Bay 327

We have 88cm from the ground to the bottom of the base plate, and over all with cover it as a height of 1,29m. The socket is made of table legs, acrylic plates and a selfmade plotted StarWars sticker.

[UCS MOC] Escape from Docking Bay 327

Oh my goodness! I have to say a galactic big THANK YOU! for all this fantasic awesome feedback! THAT I've never thought... Thank you Eurobricks, this is a great confirmation for me and my project. You'll never guess how many Bothans I had to kill, to get every information confidential till the end of my work ;-) As a little update, I want to show you a short shot of the diorama, attached with the acrylic cover, and placed in my working (Lego) room: And now the secret (what's no real secrect) about the glowing light saber. I have pictures from the first version of my diorama, but the technic behind getting glowing swords is the same as actually used ;-) I used white very small SMD LED's from our german shop "Conrad Electronics". i think you should get SMD LEDs worldwide... In the next step I drilled 1mm holes into the light saber handles: The SMD LED fits to the original LEGO intake for the transparent part of the saber: At last I fixed both parts with one drop of cyanoacrylate adhesive, but it also works fine without this step, if you don't shake the whole thing too much. Voila! Give it power, a 470Ohm resistor and 12V, and it glows fine! Regards, Spacepilot3000

    MOD: General “Luminous Qymaen” Grievous

The cables all are hidden "behind" the Lego Technic Parts of the Generals arms and legs, and within his body. Nothing ist sticking out. Only if you look from the back you can see cable parts on arms and legs because I haven't drilled the Lego Technik parts.
