    Brownstones and Dinosaurs

This is brilliant. I love the run-down building, sucker for brownstones. Also anything with dinosaurs gets my adoration, especially dinosaur cops. Might need one of those to patrol in my town.

    (Lost and) Found Lego

I work in a school, so I'm always finding Lego outside or in the halls (one of my students has a penchant for getting angry and throwing his Lego, it's great...). I generally leave it for whoever lost it to find unless it's somewhere that someone will fall on it. That's how I wound up with my favorite desk citizen: a sort of relative of Unikitty made out of one of those yellow 1x2 bricks with the face on them, a black 1x1 round plate, a blue 1x2 brick, a couple little slopes and other round plates. It's kind of really adorable. I didn't get to rescue Emmett's hair before the janitor swept it up. :\

    Review: 31031 Rainforest Animals

This is a good review! I'm a big fan of this set, myself. I love the chameleon, but the frog and parrot are really beautifully rendered too. The bird's wings are really pleasant in person and have the feel of a real bird. It's very lovely.

    MOC: Cinderella Castle (50,000 bricks)

Holy cow. The whole thing is beautiful, but I'm a big fan of the details like the windows. Even as 12 separate pieces, that has to be a beast to move. Amazing work!

How do you build your Lego sets?

I pour everything together, whether it's a MOC or from a box, 40 pieces or 4000. I tried sorting by color once but felt that was even worse on the eyes than the huge pile. I like to extend the build as long as possible, so this works for me.

    [MOC] Modern firestation

Man, that fire station is gorgeous. I love mid-century throwback builds, but this is a perfect example of a modern build done right. Wonderful job!

    Building a Cherry Blossom Tree

That is so very beautiful. I never would've thought to make a tree like that. I think I need to try this!

What is your favorite lego series

I love the City sets because they remind me of my childhood, though in my childhood I feel like I had more Castle and Islanders sets, my brother was all about City and I built more of those (he hated building, loved playing). The Lord of the Rings and Lego Movie sets brought me out of my dark ages, though I don't know how dark they were since I was buying Duplo for my nieces the whole time. And receiving the annual Winter Village set each year from my mom as a gift. And perusing the catalog. I guess I'd have to truly consider the dark ages over when I finally gave in and bought and bricklinked (most of) the modulars I'd been drooling over since their introduction.

    Unpopular LEGO opinions

I feel like on other forums they're unpopular opinions that I never share for fear of my e-life. ;) Because I grew up in a lego-loving family with firefighters, I saw more of those sets than the police ones, now I feel like I see more police sets. And yet I still want a nice big police precinct as one of the next modulars released. I refuse to self-identify as an AFOL, even though I'm in my early 30s. Maybe it's just because I'm a teacher, but I have a hard time with a lot of AFOLs who get angry about children being involved in "their hobby". Along the same vein... most of the people I've seen talking negatively about "too many female" minifigures were adult males. So confusing. That's why I'm glad I'm on this forum now!

    Unpopular LEGO opinions

My police force and fire department can never be too large. The continuation of the Star Wars theme is boring and there are way too many sets available in that theme. The Grand Emporium is an unattractive building. It's easier to use "the extra s" around non-fans. I really dug the decorative base plates of my youth. Building something on a raised base plate would be really nostalgic and nice. There aren't nearly enough female figures, populating my modular town has been a really obnoxious experience. (So many men that I've just turned it into a post apocalyptic experience with dinosaurs ravaging the streets. The women were smart, they got out of there.)

    Smelly Lego

There's only one time I think I've been ok with a serious food smell on something-- I like Persian poetry, so this lovely lady from Iran was sending me books, they had this great spicy smell that was oddly comforting. But building a modular and smelling wurst? Not good. Though like your cat, maybe my dogs are really digging the European flare.

    Smelly Lego

I recently ordered a set that was supposedly as close to new as you can get without a box. I'm slowly building it now, and the smell is like traditional German food. It's a smell I haven't smelled in a long time and on food it'd be ok but it's also kind of gross on bricks and an instruction booklet.
