  1. More importantly, Tech clearly can’t turn his head when he’s wearing that helmet. How is this acceptable to anybody? They’re taking away the minifig’s already limited articulation... Bad enough that generic stormtroopers are stuck facing forwards and now this problem is creeping into the main characters too.
  2. I’m going for something I never do: day 1 purchase through s@h for the whole wave. Taking no chances this time around, since none of last year’s sets have been on a shelf anywhere near me since day 1. FWIW stock of this year’s sets is scarce too, at least where I live, but I’ve seen a few restocks. X-Wing, TIE and Shuttle I’m only seeing one or two of each on the shelf if the store isn’t completely sold out. Haven’t seen the probe droid anywhere and can only find Vader and Scout helmets at EB games where they have a $10 or $20 markup.
  3. When you have a large platform you open yourself up to criticism. When you use that platform to influence a large crowd of other social media users you open yourself up to more criticism. When you’re trying to use that platform to act as a source of information about upcoming releases at the same time as actively spreading disinformation you are inviting criticism. That is all from me.
  4. If it’s not the gunship this could be it... keen to see what this one turns out to be. I voted for Jaws so I’m not hoping for anything in particular, just something other than Jar Jar

    LEGO Ninjago 2021

Built my water dragon, very impressed. Easily my favourite dragon of the year, the colors are brilliant and I love the little details like the flippers and the transparent pieces. Figures are cool too, especially the new snakes, though I do question why a robot needs scuba gear... Would’ve preferred to get a ninja other than Zane in this set since he also came in the fire dragon but I don’t mind. I think the wing function could’ve been integrated better, but with the whole serpent like design smaller and immobile wings are ok in my book. My biggest gripe with the set is the only point to attach a figure is a handlebar piece right up the front instead of a dedicated seat like most of the other dragons, but this is easily fixed. Water dragon definitely feels worth the $120 price of admission.
  6. Hmmmm.... if the Armourer’s horns are the same color as Saxon’s, does that mean they’re made of rubber? Or is the piece dual moulded? Keen to get it in hand. She doesn’t look as bad as I was thinking when I saw Saxon, but I agree she’s missing something. The pouldron from the range troopers would’ve looked great on her. Paz looks alright but he really would’ve benefited from a new helmet mould as well. Still great to be getting a new mandalorian figure, no doubt his pieces will turn up in some purist customs. Show me the build!
  7. I don’t think it was a matter of laziness since they’ve gone all out with the rest of the figures this wave, it was probably a matter of time or budget... I’m subscribing to the ESB-switch theory. I can’t make out Boba’s leg printing from the images we have but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s just the old print on black legs and the only new print is the torso. I’ve said it on here already, I think our answer to this will come when we have the set in hand. If the Slave I has a Han-in-carbonite shaped hole on the underside like the one from 75222 then that, combined with the initial figure leaks, will be enough “proof” for me to believe that Han was originally meant to be in the set and he was swapped for Mando at the last minute.
  8. Just thinking about the new Boba and Slave I... assuming there even will be a set or sets to tie into the new show, what’s stopping it from being another Slave I? And furthermore, any future figure is likely to have an updated helmet at least, not to mention that Star Wars is notorious for changing armour designs between appearances and a figure could reflect that. So the Boba in the new Slave I could possibly be an exclusive variant, and the ship itself is at a different scale to previous releases. If anybody else is trying to justify getting another Slave I, there’s your out.
  9. Agreed on almost all points here, TCW was an anthology so it’s highs were amazingly high but it’s lows were so unbelievably low they make The Last Jedi look competent by comparison. GoT s8 is underrated though, you try closing out all those main character’s storylines in 7 episodes without source material.
  10. $32 for the Mandalore throne is an absolute rip off but $90 for the mando fighter is awesome. Keen to see the rest of the prices. I’m assuming $60 for the trexler and advent, $80 for the Slave I and $260 for the light cruiser.
  11. This hairpiece is surely the only option. It’s bad enough they’re already using the dastan hair for Hunter, would hate to see 2 figures with inaccurate hair in this wave.
  12. Well, you did comment. The hate isn’t irrational, but rather a stew that began cooking in 2015 and is finally boiling over. Just because you don’t want something to be true doesn’t make it so, and of course we’re going to believe that TLJ was made to disappoint us when it was a made in a style that was the exact opposite of the 7 films that came before it (not to mention the fact that there are videos of Rian Johnson straight up saying things like “I wanted to make a divisive movie” and “I didn’t like the empire strikes back”).
  13. Aight I gotta say this before the thread gets nuked. I know I’m not the most well behaved person on this forum, and this may be hypocritical for me to say (y’all expecting me to keep track of the bs I spew on here are asking to much), but we need to remember that all opinions are valid. The Star Wars community as a whole has a reputation of being one of the most, if not the most, toxic fandoms out there, and that’s not going to get any better if we keep tearing each other apart the moment somebody mentions the direction the franchise has taken since 2012. You liked the new movies? Great, glad you enjoyed them, I wish I could too. You didn’t like the new movies? Great, neither did I, come scapegoat the director-firing last-minute-rewriting producer with me. There are many people on both sides of that fence, to outright dismiss the other group and labelling them as toxic without discussion is in itself being toxic! Maybe if we could actually have a civil conversation for a change things would be different.
  14. I think you’ll find that there’s a lot of Star Wars fans who feel the same way. The fact that people like @ood0 are so quick to call us toxic for having an opinion doesn’t help the problem. Throwing out the old cannon was one thing, but denying its existence as a whole was another. The Last Jedi was a straight up ”megabluck you” to the most dedicated fans and that fact only becomes more clear as time goes on. They are only just recently regaining the goodwill of the fans, and there are still many of us who are quite skeptical. We’ve known for quite a while that she had a very hands off roll in both of those productions. John and Dave had to go above her head at Disney to get things done on Mando at times. Don’t go giving credit for other people’s accomplishments to the person who made it her personal mission to make sure we didn’t get to see Han, Luke and Leia together again and instead made us watch Luke Skywalker milk a space cow. This wave is reflective of the fact that Star Wars may finally be getting back on track. Mando has a lot of faults as a show but it understands George Lucas’s idea of Star Wars moreso than any of the other Disney productions. Let us enjoy it while we can before Star Wars takes a nosedive again.

    LEGO Ninjago 2021

Got myself the fire and water dragons today. Will probably build the water dragon this weekend, just finished the fire dragon and honestly I’m a little disappointed with this one. Out of the 3 dragons I’ve built this year (fire jungle and overlord) this is by far my least favourite of the 3. Build was fun, especially the body... colors are great, wings are cool but would’ve preferred printing on both sides and I like the new head even if I would’ve preferred brick built. Hardly any poseability in the legs and arms though, even less than the overlord dragon from earlier this year. I’m finding it hard to find a pose for it that doesn’t make it topple over because it is very top heavy. Not a bad set but I expected more for $80... that’s on me for being impatient and not waiting for a sale. Also would’ve liked Whyplash to have a white loincloth instead of blue and his original flail weapon from the spinner set but that’s just a nitpick, figures are fine as is but it wouldn’t have hurt if there was another ninja or a few more skulkin (samukai when??). Keen to get started on the water dragon when I have a chance.
  16. Oh, It’s beautiful. Slave I looks like a beefed up version of the one from Cloud City. Seeing only Mando in it makes me think that it was originally meant to be Boba and Han and they made a last minute design change. If there’s space for a Han carbonite block underneath we’ll know for sure. I don’t want to get the slave I again but if Boba ends up being stupid expensive on the aftermarket I’ll probably just bite the bullet. Cruiser looks awesome, can’t wait to see the interior. Darksaber looks like a 3L bar instead of a 4L to me but could be wrong. Figures are great, love that Cara Dune is there if only for the fact that her inclusion is sure to make some people crack the megablocks (RIP anybody who paid extortionate prices for her figure), only one dark trooper is a shame though. Surely more dark troopers will turn up in sets as time goes on. Marauder is cool, but the continued use of the oversized stormtrooper helmets is a shame. They can’t turn their heads anymore, I don’t get how that’s acceptable to anybody. Gauntlet fighter is great too, so happy to finally have Bo Katan. Gar Saxon is icing on the cake, I just hope the armourer doesn’t use that helmet as well. Missed out on the original set so will try to get this one ASAP. Mandalore duel is meh but nobody’s buying that one for the build. Prison block is a great inclusion, from the leaked descriptions I thought that was an actual prison cell from like The Lawless or something and not Maul’s from the finale. They could’ve at least done some spinning bases like the last duel sets. Maul not using the monkey kid hilt piece is annoying but easily solved with a bricklink order (that is, if the piece has been produced in the right color yet. Last I checked I think it was only in gold :/ ) Also nice little tease for the advent calendar too. Great wave, great to see Star Wars bouncing back after a horrible year of releases last year. Will definitely try to get all the sets except the Slave I, maybe not the duel either depending on Maul’s price. Keen to see the forge eventually, I’ve always hated the retail exclusives not being in the catalogues.
  17. I wonder if that’s real or not since I was also under the impression that it was coming with Han... maybe it’s was meant to be OT Boba and they went back and changed the print when he turned up in the show? If it’s real, lego’s really trying to get me to buy yet another slave I...
  18. Meditation chamber is $110 in Aus... I was expecting $120 so not as bad as I first thought, but still pretty bad. And of course, not available for preorder in Australia . At least I didn’t want to buy this one.
  19. Big yikes on that meditation chamber. Note that none of the photos show it in it’s closed position, that’s a massive red flag right there. Will wait for reviews to make the final call but IMO this could be a contender for worst Star Wars set ever based on the price alone, what could have easily been a $20 set has been completely overblown. It’s like the designers asked themselves “how can we take this model that we’ve made out of a handful of pieces in the past and make it needlessly expensive?” Honestly, it’s worse than I was expecting given the screen is hiding at the back where it’s hard to see, I was thinking it would be off to the side instead. Hopefully it brings down the price of arm printed Vader on the aftermarket. EDIT: The chamber is closed on the side of the box and you can see quite a bit of white poking through the gaps...
  20. I messaged LEGO customer service asking why we can’t preorder Star Wars sets here as well as a few other questions. The reply I got ignored all my questions except the preorder one and they basically told me “if you want to preorder something preorder the Luigi starter course.”
  21. I dislike the channel because of the entitled persona he portrays in his videos. He’s the only content creator in his age group that I know of, an age group that I feel is underrepresented within the wider LEGO community, and his content reflects badly on the group as a whole. It was specifically a video on the UCS Star Destroyer that made me stop watching his content, in which he showed a photo of the set that originated from someone who received it early to review, he proceeded to turn the video into a rant about how he deserved to receive review copies too (iirc one of his points was a promise not to leak anything - in a video where he was showing leaked images. Imagine my surprise when they booted him from LAN because of leaking). As someone who has received sets to review in the past, I know first hand that a level of maturity is expected. Myself and others worked very hard for the opportunity to be a part of the program and from what I gather this guy just made video after video begging to be let in and it worked. As far as the minifigure topic goes, what the LEGO designers tell us perfectly lines up with the “proof and logic”. All of those companies you listed will have their own licensing agreements, each with their own specific details as to what they can and cannot do. If LEGO says they cannot make a minifigure series because of the contract, they can’t do it. If they were able to, they would’ve done it by now because they’re clearly aware of the demand for it. The Obi-Wan poly was a promotional release, the figures with the magazines aren’t the only thing you receive with the purchase, and perhaps most importantly neither of those examples were/are widely available to customers around the world like a CMF would be.
  22. It’s only 5 minutes long so probably worth the watch but here’s the TLDW 1) Battle Packs are coming in the future. No specifics as to when only that they’re not dead. 2) LEGO does not look at aftermarket prices of minifigures to determine what figures to make, instead working from the questions “Have we done it before? If yes, how can we make it better?” 3) Gunship info coming specifically “mid summer”, speculated be July or August my thoughts: 1) duh. Glad this argument can finally be laid to rest. They were a staple of the lineup for 14 years and the current ones are clearly selling well, they were never going anywhere 2) Probably the biggest news from this. Maybe having heard that question they will take note of the ludicrous prices of some figures and reproduce them. Really hope the designers take this one to heart and do something about it. Anything to shaft those selfish money hungry POS who decide to send a figure “to the moon” by buying literally all the stock available. 3) just confirmation of what we already knew. I get why they don’t show photos but they could at least tell us the price of the set in the different markets, this interview would’ve been a perfect opportunity to do that. Would love to be able to accurately budget these things ahead of time instead of working off of uncertain conversions of rumoured American prices.
  23. That’s probably because his hairpiece was created specifically for him and there’s no reason to change it
  24. They’ll probably opt not to use that since it’s curved and just go with a black lightsaber like last time. I hope they give us a moulded darksaber but I’m not holding my breath.
