I never once thought a $120 set would be a Ninjago City modular, especially after the Gardens just came out. Makes no sense. It sounds like 2021 is the new template going forward. A small event series/movie in the spring, and something more substantial in the summer.

With any luck we'll get some legitimate Jan 2022 set name leaks within the next 2-3 weeks with the way other theme leaks are trickling out.

Ninjago Most Wanted minifigures
bricksnator replied to Doom2099's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I was hoping Legacy would fill in some of these gaps. Thus far that hasn't really been the case. Budgets and all.- 6 replies

Speaking of Legacy, the set I want to see most is Four Swords Blacksmith at the $99.99 price point, or better yet $129.99. Though the former is more realistic. It could better resemble its show appearance and include Wu, Gardamon, Kai, Nya, Samukai, and another Skulkin. This is the setting where it all started, after all. The original Four Swords set isn't up to snuff.

My Walmart in AZ had most of the Seabound sets last night. They're hitting.
-
Obviously, but the sets are still for the most part a reflection of the show.

I collect Ninjago because of the show and how the sets reflect the show. The glaring omissions for me: A small street corner set in the $20 to $30 range with Antonia and Nelson on their bikes. Gripe and Maya given their screen time. Miss Demeanor, though I don't think we've seen the last of her.

^The city reminded me of SoG and Hunted.

+1 for Zane's Titan Mech from me as well. Don't sleep on it. The build is excellent and the Zane figure is one of the best for the character, period.

^ I mostly agree with that, though one exception comes to mind: the Season 4 Dojo Showdown set with Griffin Turner and Karloff. I would argue those two characters have no obvious alignment built into their designs. Yes, they are Elemental Masters, but from the box art Karloff is depicted as a villain and Turner as neither hero nor villain. We can only speculate that sales of the most recent Ninjago minifigure 3-packs weren't up to snuff and that's why there hasn't been one since Season 11. The Upply would have slotted nicely into that format, much like the Elemental Masters did when released back around S7 or so.

And that annoys me when the Legacy sets are modernized rehashes. I would take one less Legacy set to have gotten the Upply for S13, for example. But I also understand the purpose of the Legacy sets, which aren't exactly geared towards adult collectors that want full TV show representation in toy form.

The Borg Tower "leak" was instantly dismissible for numerous reasons: misspellings, figure count vs piece count, timing. Move along. We need those S15 final set images!
-
Liking everything S15 so far. Reminds me of the nice set range from S11. As a Ninjago collector it's two of everything for me -- one to open, one to keep shut -- even if it takes some time to accomplish.

Definitely a weak selection. Lots of apparent cost savings, even on the only true exclusive show character - the mechanic. No Cyrus Borg in now 3 city sets is baffling. I can only hope there are other plans for his human debut. This was also a missed opportunity to get us Gayle Gossip and Vinny. Characters that recur over multiple seasons should get figures, even if they aren't "marketable to kids." Adults buy these with a collector's mentality, too. That said, the build looks great and cannot wait to connect it to the other City sets. I suspect the first run of these will sellout quickly in this pandemic stay-at-home society...

That style doesn't work with the movie city style. This new set clearly carries forth the movie aesthetic.

A couple CA Targets put out new Legacy sets. One person bought an Overlord Dragon. Another posted a pic of Kai's ride and the Roto Jet. Kohls and Target in-store are your best bet to score them early in the US. They're trickling out.

I asked about the listing. He got them at Legoland Parks.

Interestingly enough someone in Georgia has two of Zane's Mech listed on eBay, in hand. Make of that what you will.
-
Doubtful. Maybe starting in February or March in a non-English speaking country. Those are usually the first to leak.

There could be an inordinate number of small pieces that would drive the price per brick down. So sad. Technically their message said Kirby recorded 2021 episodes, so I take that to mean he'd already recorded Season 15 as well as 14.

The Gardens set is the best opportunity to get "boring" figures like the police chief, Gayle Gossip, Cyrus Borg, etc. I'm crossing my fingers we get a few and not a bunch of random city minifigures pulled from other sets.
-
They aren't geared toward people. They are geared specifically toward kids. This is the big disconnect with LEGO Ninjago and fans IMHO. This property has been around for a decade now and many fans/buyers who were kids when it began are adults now. LEGO is for the most part not meeting their/our needs. Lets hope City Gardens rectifies this with some figures that kids wouldn't find cool but we'd be all over, like Milton Dyer; Dr. Julien; Cyrus Borg; possessed Nya, Gayle Gossip etc.
-
Keep in mind that I highly doubt the designers' first concern is show accuracy. It's marketability to kids. In this respect the Firestone Mech is visually more appealing than an all-rock Mech.

And yet this season turned out to be a winner. There's potential here for additional sets and echoing a comment above, this season deserves more than a single small wave. I would love to see LEGO do a Fan's Choice for Ninjago. The brand is a decade old and going strong; if anything strengthened by COVID-19 and the quarantines with streaming going crazy. If advertised via official LEGO channels they'll get plenty of Fan Choice votes. Throw up digital concept models for three or four fan-requested sets with a debut character or two based on social media research. Let fans choose which one gets made, then use the votes as market research for future sets. It kills me as someone who works in marketing that LEGO isn't taking advantage of an increasingly growing AFOL segment of Ninjago collectors as the series continues to age and thrive. Anyway, at the very least Ninjago is due a nice big D2C set again. 10th anniversary maybe?

I dunno. While I had my issues with Season 11, there is stuff to like as well. I dug Aspheera's "Treacherous Deceiver" line and the way all her lines were read. I wouldn't mind if she were freed from captivity at some point in the future. While purely filler, it was a nice fan nod to bring back Nelson and immortalize a sick Ninjago fan with Antonia. The idea of Forbidden Spinjitzu or a dark form of Spinjitzu is neat, but needed more room to breathe and be fleshed out... and Sorla's elemental knowledge for that matter. The Explorers Club. To make this toy related, Sorla deserves a figure.
