Did you try putting on the printed barricade pieces on instead of the stickered tiles? The more I look at them, the more annoyed I get due to the terrible printing on the large runway plates. Even with evenly applied stickered tiles, it's almost impossible to line up the runway lines. I don't think mine are too far off, but was curious to see if anyone had enough of the black/yellow barricade tiles (would need 16 in all) to see how it would then look with all printed pieces on the runway. The break up of the tiles would also eliminate the obvious printing flaws in areas where the stickered tiles meet the printed runway plates. I did try using just plain unstickered black 2x4 smooth finishing tiles without stickers, but I felt it looked worse than having slightly uneven runway lines with the stickered tiles.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

Just looked at the two figures that I have so far. The one that came from the IM v Ultron has a pentagon on his chest. The one from the HBS set has a circle on his chest. I don't have the Tower so can not confirm which comes with that set.

Anyone still looking to pick up the Bat Wing/Joker Steam Roller set, a few of the local Target's by me in the US have added it to the clearance endcaps along with a few other Super Heroes sets. Employee told me its to make room for the new Marvel sets next week.

I was surprised when I found out the local LEGO store where I picked up mine last Tuesday was already sold out of their shipment of 20 in less than a week. Glad I didn't wait until this past weekend to go to the store as I would have been SOL. As much as I hate snow days, in this instance it helped as the kids didn't have school last Tuesday so we all went once the roads were cleared instead of waiting til the weekend.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

Picked up the Hulk Buster Smash set at TRU. The one I went to had all of the sets, however after the one I purchased, there was only 1 Hulk Buster set left. They had plenty of all of the other sets including the Quinjet (I counted 6) Couldn't pull the trigger on the Quinjet set eventhough that was the one that interested me the most after the Hulkbuster, but after picking up the Helicarrier, couldn't justify spending an additional $80 just yet. I have a feeling that the Hulkbuster is going to be the most popular and hardest to keep on store shelves out of all the new Avengers sets.

Wow. Take the $20 Castle gatehouse set, call it a Hydra fortress, add in an exclusive Quicksilver and voila! A $50 set! Would honestly rather just pay $15 for the one figure than an additional $35 for something that would be parted out immediately. Not trying to sound like sour grapes, as I will definitely pick up the Hulk Buster Smash and Quinjet sets, but that Fortress set pricing is shameful. Almost as bad as the Gorilla Grodd $50 set price (which i did pick up for the figures). If they included the Captain American that we all want with an actual helmet, it would be a different story perhaps.

The steps to add in the lights and power function are all the way at the end of the book and is fairly simple and straight forward. I borrowed both from a friend to test and quickly realized it was pretty useless in my situation and not worth buying my own power set. Problem is running the wires inside is exposed and ruins the look of the interior control room IMHO since the wires are exposed and with the motor, it was like "cool" but beyond just testing it out, when would I really ever turn it on ever again.

I thought the micro's looked really stupid in the promo pics, but once I had them in my hand and saw the detail, I really loved them. Prices are insane for the micro's. They come packed in a little bag in the last number 12 bag. Two EBAY scalpers are currently asking for $100 U.S. dollars for the tiny bag.

Well, at least you can pick up the MM poly on EBAY for around $10 US dollars not including shipping if the seller is willing to ship internationally. Large drop from the $25 to $30 I kept seeing it listed for prior to the Braniac set release.

At the place I bought my Helicarrier in the US, they did confirm the WS Polybag as a store giveaway this summer, but could not confirm details such as if it comes with any purchase over a $ amount or if it comes with a Marvel purchase, etc... But suffice to say, if you are in the US, there is no need to rush out and feed into the EBAY scalper market as it will be available here in a few months.

Regular minifigures will definitely look way off scale and silly as it is currently configured. Modifying the upper flight deck control room to accommodate a figure or two without making it look like they are sitting in a Star Wars microfighter may do the trick. But the micro-minis is what really makes the overall appearance of the Hellicarrier so impressive scale wise. I'd like to pick up more of the Shield micros to add but the little bag they come in is being listed for insane prices currently on the usual secondary market purchase sites.

One of the pics I posted (my quickly thrown together recreation of Cap and Iron Man repairing one of the rotors should give an accurate idea of scale. I didn't think of taking a closeup of some of the micros I have on the deck unfortunately.

Finished. Took almost 10 hours spread over 3 days. Here are the final completed pics with everything set up. https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/128866203@N08/16586262832/ https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/128866203@N08/16560949936/ https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/128866203@N08/16585738811/ https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/128866203@N08/16399719078/ https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/128866203@N08/16586262402/ Thoughts.... What an amazing build. I completely understand those turned off by the absurd price tag, but for those willing to look past that, you won't be disappointed. This thing is huge. Seriously huge once the front and upper runways are attached. I thought my Sea Cow was huge, but the sheer length of the hull and how rock solid it is quite a lego engineering feat. Due to the size, getting it on the stand can be hard. My advice is to practice with just the hull after bags number 4 so you kind of memorize how to line it up blindly, otherwise you may want someone to hold it while you insert the stand in the notches underneath. Best way to pick the thing up is with one hand underneath the rear where there is a lot of space for ones hand, and slightly tip the ship so you csn put your other hand under the front of the hull by the lower hull windows. If you grab it by the front of the ship's runway, the front section may pop off due to it being in place with just two blue pins. As others have said, the deck control room should have been bigger. I am really digging the micro figures. Thought they looked stupid in the promo pics but once you have them in your hand and see how they really give the Helicarrier the proper scale, you will have a better appreciation of the detail put into these micro figs. I wonder if Lego will let you order extra through their parts order page, if not will search for someone selling them to add more to the display. Which brings me to the main control room. Very disappointing feature IMHO. Could have been more detailed as others have said with all of the extra room saved for the power functions. Getting the micro's in there was tough. Had to place them in and use a qtip to push them into place as my hand could not fit inside properly to place them where I wanted. Rotors were a hassle. As mentioned before, it didn't occur to me to properly line them up prior to attaching. So when I saw how odd it looked to have them at different intervals of a clock... For instance one at 12 noon, another at 3, etc... I went back and aligned the gears properly so they rotate in sync. In regards to the stickers, no one should not buy this over the use of stickers. The only one requiring any degree of skill is the display stand one as it is quite large and could easily bubble if you are not careful. The others (I think 18 in all) are fairly easy to apply compared to say the Milano. My biggest complaint about the design would be the rear thrusters. They are not attached with pins like the rotors, instead with a big rotating socket hinge which easily falls off if you bump it. Overall, very pleased and money well spent in my case. Wife did get annoyed as I kind of didn't mention I was buying it when i took the kids to the Lego store. Will have to wait a couple months prior to picking up the Quinjet without her complaining, but should time out well with getting the Winter Soldier promo in June.

The rotors definitely became repetitivly boring for me as well. To make matters worse, I didn't line up the rotors evenly the first time so had to dismantle the mechanisms and rebuild them so they all line up perfectly. OCD at its worst.

Kingdom, I've spent about 8 hours total so far and have just the upper flight deck and mini vehicles left (bags numbered 11 and 12), so I'd say depending on the builder's experience level it will take between 8-10 hours total. Overall, there are about 24 bags (not an exact count) as most of the numbered sections have multiple bags.

One observation thus far in regards to the printed runway plates. The center lines on all of the plates are horrendous. It's as if my 5 year old son drew the lines on the plates himself.... meaning the printing is wavy and far from a nice crisp straight line. It's a minor issue IMHO though as so far this has been the most enjoyable large (1000+ piece) build for me yet, surpassing the Sea Cow by a wide margin.

I debated whether or not I wanted to apply the sticker immediately or wait until everything was complete. Was paranoid of applying it wrong or even worse an air bubble right in the middle... But thankfully applied flawlessly. What a way to possibly ruin the build for anyone who air bubbles or misaligns this sticker from the start. Overall, 22 stickers to apply, but this by far is really the only one that has any degree of difficulty.

Picked one up as well. Was shocked to realize the box is twice the size depth wise as the Sea Cow box when I put the two side by side at home (only slightly taller) despite only being 200 pieces more.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

If Amazon pulls a listing like with the Ultron sets, do they typically honor the sales already placed? Ordered mine a few days ago and says expected arrival date on Tuesday but hasn't shipped yet, let alone preparing to ship message either. Wondering if they are just not going to send it out until March now. Oh well. FYI Noticed a seller on EBay is selling the Hulkbuster set for $70. Says they have three in hand and one already sold. Can't believe people are willing to pay double just to get something a couple weeks early.

    Latest Chima Purchases ?

Super crazy. Just picked up the Lion Chi Temple at Target for $9.06. Not a typo. Was being sold clearance/as-is. Box a little worn but tape still sealed and otherwise in good shape. Will open and check prior to giving to my son, but deal was too good to pass up.
  23. I decided to take a stab at the Batwing with my favorite Tron color scheme. Here is what I came up with. https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/128866203@N08/15365162154/ https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/128866203@N08/15800024298/ https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/128866203@N08/15801418299/ https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/128866203@N08/15801692927/ https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/128866203@N08/15961659636/ https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/128866203@N08/15801696777/ Overall, fairly pleased with how it turned out. Definitely the most ambitious build for me yet as I was essentially winging it as I was building with no real blueprints other than some images of the Lego Movie Batwing. Not 100% satisfied with the rear. Anyone have any part recommendations for a rear turbine that will hold the flames? The piece I originally wanted to use would not accommodate multiple flames so I opted for the back wheel of Wildstyle's motor cycle. The weight of the wings was the most challenging aspect as I had to design and re-design a few times on a trial and error basis to build a base that supported the wing assembly. Thanks for looking.

    Custom Batmobile Tron Style

Here is my custom Batmobile using a black, grey and transparent light blue color scheme. Built it similar to the current LEGO Batmobile seen in the Batman Be-Leaguered special. Had to design a different frame to accommodate the balloon tires. Also added storage for Batarangs and a larger rear missile area. https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/128866203@N08/15876923756/ https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/128866203@N08/15716678659/ https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/128866203@N08/15902089852/ https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/128866203@N08/15715442660/ Thanks for looking. Custom Batmobile Tron Style

Thanks. I picked up an Electro-Suit batman after seeing your suggestion. Definitely looks much cooler paired with the trans light blue color scheme than the regular batman that I had. UPDATE Went back and made some minor modifications that I think help the overall look such as adding curved slope pieces to the sides of the front bumper, as well as adding curved slope pieces to the rear side wings. Had to trade 2 pieces for every 1 piece with my 4 year old son to get the additional black slope pieces. What can i say, he's already a shrewd negotiator. https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/128866203@N08/15389255203/
