    Custom Avengers Tower

Thanks. It took two Tower sets plus quite a few extra pieces. Uncommon pieces I had to pull from other sets include additional trans-light blue 2x6 bricks (I think 6 more than what is provided in the two sets combined), trans-light blue 1x2 studded plates and finishing tiles, the trans-light blue small windows used at the very top (took from Lord Business Evil Lair) translight blue semi-cylinder pieces (took from Hydra Fortress) used for the revolving door at the entrance, and additional but more common miscellaneous pieces such as slopes, bricks and finishing tiles. There might be a few others I can't remember, but the trans-light blue pieces listed above were the less common ones I had to pull from other sets.

Kevkipo... We're cool. Great thing about forums is we can totally disagree on something one day and be in agreement on something totally different tomorrow. As for the Tower modification, it appears the creator also might have added a number of dark grey tall slopes and 2x5 dark grey tall bricks to create the larger lower levels and additional 2x2 finishing tiles for the extended balcony, so I believe it would take a second set plus some additional pieces as well to replicate his/her modification. We would need to see more angles I think to determine what other pieces they used that would be required that would not be included in the pieces from buying two sets. Overall, a really cool modification in just s short amount of time.

JaseTJ, I'm pretty sure it's either an official mini skit that LEGO made to promote the sets or a very well fan made homage to the sets.

Again, according to what you flamed me for... You should have said "I was just defending what I think is a well designed set." I see the double standard when it comes to fact and opinion. And I see how you just edited your post to correct the very thing you criticized me for. So just to clear all this up and end it. My opinion is this set is a terrible build and overpriced. Happy now?

But you didn't. I have no problem with you stating you like the set. You are the one who told me that I posted my opinion as fact and criticized me. Where in all of this did I ever attack you or the set. Saying the set is terrible is not blasphemy. Again, sorry if you are so easily offended.

Dude. I get it. You are sticking up for a forum buddy. But here is an example... Fact - this set costs xxx amount. Opinion - this set is over priced or this set is great, etc. If you clearly can't tell the difference, then it's a lost cause to begin with and I'll just stop posting my thoughts on sets in the future since they are obviously not welcome unless a put disclaimers everywhere.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

Please point out where I said 'this is fact'. I sound like a broken record. Go back and read my prior posts from last week where I clearly said that this is my opinion on the sets after purchasing them. Again sorry if I offend people by not prefacing every post with a disclaimer of this is my opinion fof those that clearly can't tell fact from opinion unless they are told so.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

Dude, what is your deal? I've made a couple of posts about my opinions on all of the sets so far AND CLEARLY stated previously that it was my opinion. I don't feel a need to rehash or repost just to preface something prior to replying in fear of offending someone especially if you feel a need to be as petty as to make a reply that I needed to put a certain word. I question your thinking if you really can't tell that someone is posting an opinion and not fact as you put it over linguistics on a post. My recent posts clearly are referring to the quality of the build that Kevkipo seems to have an issue, but yes it is grossly overpriced. Granted I still purchased and feel like I should be able to give my opinions on the set without being criticized over linguistics.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

I NEVER STATED my opinion of the set as fact. In my previous posts, I've made it clear that my thoughts were based off of my own personal preferences which is the build itself over the minifigures. I've already posted previously how the set appears to be popular as only the Hulkbuster is selling faster at the few TRUs by me, although my suspicions are that they are being bought by scalpers looking to sell off the figures and components for profit, so obviously others feel the same way as you which is perfectly fine. If after you build the Quinjet, Helicarrier and even Hulkbuster set you still feel it was the better build, then more power to you. I have no idea why people get so bent out of shape when others post their thoughts and/or recommendations about certain sets. It's as if the only thing we can post is glowing rave reviews of anything LEGO rełeases in fear of offending others.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

As I've stated previously, I certainly understand why people have or will be buying this set (Quicksilver and Baron Von Strucker) but even factoring OUT the cost of the set, both build components of the set are terrible, perhaps the worst out of all of the 2015 first wave of Marvel and DC. The Cho research van with its exploding walls and Hyperbolic chamber that Vision lays in in that slides out of the back of the truck is a better build than the Hydra tank. I feel bad for everyone in Europe who has to pay even more than the absurd $50 US retail cost of this set. I've purchased all of the 2015 super hero sets both Marvel and DC to date with the exception of the Black Manta set and this is the second worst set in regards to the actual build itself (Hydra Shodown being the worst). Obviously, if you collect the minifigures, it makes more financial sense to just buy the set than pay the absurd $25 asking price that the secondary market sellers are asking for, but if it's the actual builds themselves that interest you, I would avoid this until the price drops significantly and spend the money on the other sets first namely the Helicarrier, Quinjet or Darkseid (Javelin 7) sets as all three of those offer great builds AND great figures but obviously cost significantly more.

I plan on modifying the Hydra fortress (haven't had a chance to build it yet). Have a lot of extra light grey and castle pieces from the Castle Calvary set and my son's castle gate tower. Just want to make it look a little nicer and bigger than the current lego junior looking build that it appears to be.

LOL. I think a lot of people will suddenly have broken or missing micro figures if LEGO refuses to offer additional ones for purchase considering they only give you 12 total to begin with. But again, no one at the parts department seems to know for sure if they will be available or not yet.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

I agree. Both are great. Not factoring in cost of set or size of set, I would rank both in the top five of the superheroes (marvel and DC) released so far in 2015. The only thing I don't like about the Quinjet is that windshield sticker. Looks great in the pictures, but looks pretty Craptacular in person. The sticker just makes the windshield too cloudy, and let's not even mention how difficult it may be for novice builders to apply correctly. Luckily, I had an extra one of the trans dark blue ones that I was able to switch out otherwise I would probably be regretting the decision to apply the windshield sticker.

I've spoken to 2 different people at the Lego parts/replacement recently, one says you will be able to purchase more micro figures in the future, but another told me we won't be able to because she told me that they do not offer parts for sale from licensed properties that are set specific, they can only send out as replacement such as if one of the micro figures was missing or damaged they can send one, but aren't allowed to sell you one. Seems like a pretty stupid policy to me if that is indeed true. The other rep told me that usually anytime a part in their system is listed as "coming soon" that it will be able to be purchased as well. Guess we will just have to wait and see once the set specific pieces from the Helicarrier are available for replacement. As of today, only the parts that are not set specific to the Helicarrier can be ordered... Meaning parts that can be found in other sets as well.

    Question about Minifigure condition

Luckily, the printed leg parts in question belong to super hero figures so they processed the request and are sending me replacements in the mail.
  18. Hey everyone: I had a question regarding the condition of minifigures when getting them new out of the package. I never really paid much attention until recently when it seemed to occur more frequently than I remember in the past year since I starting collecting sets, but all too often it seems the leg piece in particular the front or rear corners of the feet occasionally have a small dent or roundness. Is this a manufacturing flaw or damage occurring from the jostling of bricks in the bag or both? Do you request a replacement from LEGO or is this just a common issue that one has to accept if they collect mini figures. I'd say I notice this flaw albeit very minor in about 1 out of every 5 but i've also noticed about 1 in 10 may have a very noticeable dent on the corner that you can easily see. Luckily, with several instances the leg piece was a common solid color piece, but in two particular cases, it has happened on printed leg pieces that can't be easily switched out. I plan on contacting LEGO to request replacements as it seems silly to exchange a set at the store over a mini figure, but I'd like to get the opinions from those who are serious mini figure collectors and what they do in these cases.

That may have been a prelim pic. The hulk in the Hulkbuster is the the Avengers printed logo pants as well.

Not sure how many people on vacation are going to want to pack that on a plane ride home or jam it in the back of their vehicle, but surprised nonetheless. The store by me (suburban Philadelphia) sold out of all 20 of their allotment within 5 days.

No worries, like I said, just my own personal preferences. I'll have to go look at the Hulks because I SWEAR the Hulk in the Hulkbuster set with Scarlett Witch and Ultron prime is the same as Hulk in Hydra Fortress. I will say this. I picked up the 6 Ultron sets on three different trips. Despite my dislike of this set ( which is why I picked it up last), it did appear that quite a few were sold compared to the other sets with the exception of the Hulkbuster which had just 1 left compared to the dozen or so when I went on Monday. To my surprise, maybe 1 or 2 Quinjets had sold as they had essentially the same amount on the shelf give or take whatever may have been restocked... But only 4 of the Fortress compared to a dozen on Monday.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

How is it exclusive printing on the Hulk when it's identical to the Hulk in the Hulkbuster set? So I count three identical figures in this set and the Hydra agent is by far the worst minifigure in the Ultron line. I doubt anyone will be purchasing multiple of this set to army build with Hydra soldiers at $50 compared to the Iron Man vs Ultron $12 set. I'll give you the Strucker point (so make it two good things) but honestly tell me you would recommend this set to someone who may not have the funds to get every set like some of us who are more fortunate than others and has to choose best value for their money. That said, I respect others opinions and know others may really like this set. If it was priced at $39.99, I probably would feel differently. Which set would you rate worst out of the 2015 Super Heroes either Marvel or DC?

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

So just picked up the Quinjet Chase and Hydra Fortress (eventhough I still think the price on this set is terrible). Now have all seven Avengers sets recently released. Combine this with the five recent Justice League sets, I think the 2015 Super Hero sets OVERALL have been the best group of super here sets since LEGO started producing the Super Hero sets. Out of the 12 total I picked up, here is my top five and worst three. Again, just my own opinion based on my preferences. Best 1 - Helicarrier - I know the price is a major issue for many, but it really is a thing of beauty when finished. 2 - Hulkbuster - Love everything about it. Great figures, great build for the mech, great price for what you get. 3 - Darkseid Invasion - Great build and great minifigure selection. Honorable Mention - Green Lantern vs Sinestro Worst 1 - Hydra Fortress - Other than Quicksilver, there is nothing positive about this set. Terrible value, three duplicate figures from other sets, and a tower build no better than a lego junior set. 2 - Gorilla Grodd goes Bananas - Like Hydra Fortress, way overpriced. Captain Cold and Grodd are great but everything else is average. 3 - Hydra Chase - The price is good but the Avenger jeep is so ridiculously bad even my five year old didn't want it when I offered to give it to him. The smaller Hydra dune/snow buggy he gladly took when offered. Set should have had one exclusive figure to make it a worthwhile purchase.

Here is what I just came up with based off of your initial idea prior to seeing your picture (thanks for the idea of using the barrier plates) Was able to eliminate all of the stickered 2x4 tiled pieces, make a continuos runway with the printed plates and still maintain the interior accesibility. Overall, I'm much happier with the look having all printed pieces with a few trans light blue mixed in.
