That was awesome! I like all of the characters' voices, they fit them very well and their personalities shown through and the voice acting was top notch. However, I'm still not sold on Umarak's voice. I do like that even though he is serving Makuta, he's in it for himself and doesn't revere Makuta but sees him as more of an equal, considering he is far more ancient than Makuta. I really liked Narmoto's narration of previous events, very similar to Vakama. That, and his voice was pretty cool. The writing, I think, was actually pretty decent and it feels a lot like the first few years of G1 with the sense of mystery and wonder and the exaggerated speech. The character models all look awesome The music is also superb as is the action and animation. The way the Toa control their elements is very Avatar-like, which is cool. Umarak's shadow powers are pretty sweet too. I can't wait until June for the second half of the series! The only criticisms I really have are I think the transitions from scene to scene could have been better and everything felt rushed, but that of course is due to the short length of screen time. Hopefully, If we get a series next year, it will be much longer to better fill out the story.

That's probably where the design came from to begin with. I'd bet we get some combiner models in the Club magazine and online at some point. I like the voices so far, well except Umarak's but it might grow on me with time. On a side note, just finished Revenge of the Skull Spiders and it was quite good. I like the new characters and creatures that have been brought into the books and the descriptions of the Protectors' 'mad skillz' particularly Vizuna, lends itself to some great mental imagery. Also

The poster looks fantastic! I can't wait to watch it next week. I'm still not sold on Umarak's voice, it should be dark and brooding and he shouldn't speak much. Like Darth Maul. I think evil shadow beings should be this way in general, not Starscream-sounding. Hopefully his destroyer form will be like this, if he even talks at all in that form. It's gonna be hard to wait until July for the second half of the miniseries. I'm not sure if I'm familiar with any Canadian cartoons so I can't comment on their quality. Just based on the videos we've seen, the action should be good at least. hopefully the story and writing will be decent. Also, who else here prefers to pronouce Umarak as (u-MAR-ik) as opposed to (U-ma-RAK) as it is actually pronounced. I just like the way I say it better, it just sounds more realistic or something.

I don't think that's the case. I don't think it is any different from the Beasts' masks, therefore it shouldn't interfere with the jaw snapping function.I started out with Storm Beast as my least favorite and Quake Beast as my favorite based on the leaks. Now Lava Beast is my favorite and Quake Beast as my least favorite. Once I have them in hand, I wouldn't be surprised if Storm Beast will actually become my favorite because of that cool function. The claws look nice too. Lava Beast is still the best looking of the 3 and I really like his Wyvern/Balrog-like appearance. Quake Beast is just very messy and his function is kinda lousy. The color scheme has a couple issues too. The only solid purple piece is his mask and the pink crystals on the torso look like they belong in an Elves set. If they were purple, they'd look great and actually fit the color scheme while making the crystal add-ons more uniform in appearance.

The updated info and pictures was nice. Apparently the masks of Unity Ekimu crafted after the fall of Kulta guide them to the creatures' locations. There is also a new designer video for Onua, Lewa, Gali, and Umarak. According to the designer, Umarak has been under Makuta's employ for many years and Umarak's mask allows him to control shadows... G2 mask of shadows confirmed?

The trailer looks good and I like the voice modulation. I agree it should have been tuned down a bit but it doesn't make them difficult to understand. I don't know how I feel about Umarak's voice. I expected something deeper and more brooding and barely speaking, almost Darth Maul-esque I guess. He sounds like Starscream and I think in time I'll be fine with it. He kinda reminds me of Nidihki a little bit.

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion

I'm preeetty sure that IF this set is happening and IF it has Spider-Man in it, the reason we haven't heard anything is because of Sony, not Marvel. Everything having to do with Spidey in the MCU is a very delicate situation that Marvel is being very careful of, especially marketing-wise. Sony and Disney are basically co-rights holders and therefore both must be in on the decision-making and money-making processes. It's bureaucracy not avoiding spoilers. This is the main reason why Spidey hasn't been seen or mentioned in any marketing material thus far according to the powers that be at Marvel studios, though honestly I'm glad they can't or I fear almost every aspect of his appearance in the movie would be spoiled in movie trailers the way they completely spoiled the Hulkbuster in Age of Ultron. I know they showed concept art of it early on and it wasn't a secret or anything but it would have been nice to keep that big scene under wraps for the sake of moviegoers. They at least kept Vision under wraps until close to the movie's release. -
Sooo I just watched the latest episode of Rebels and who else would love a Rodian-driving modified yellow TIE fighter with a decaled Stormtrooper helmet-wearing Kenan. Oh and of course Ezra with a decaled helmet riding a brick-built space whale. I would so buy that set! Maybe like a $40 set or so. I like the Hoth set but I think we should disregard the UCS title as this clearly is not one, just a very large and expensive playset. If people looked at it that way, I think they'd be happier. I like Rex's AT-TE, although I really wish he used the short white beard from the CMF line, I fully expected him to so I'm rather surprised it won't be included. The tents and overhangs on the vehicle aren't very well represented I feel, as the bright yellow and blue panels just don't look like fabric overhangs and are a bit too bright. Also, the main cannon doesn't have a crane feature which is surprising considering how prominent it was in the episodes the vehicle was featured in. Darth Vader's TIE Advanced and the A-Wing is a must have set for sure, excellent vehicles and a pretty good minifig selection. But that price tag, $90 are you kidding me!?! MAYBE $70, more like $40-$50. That is insanely overpriced, even for a Star Wars set, heck for a licensed set. If I can find it on sale I'll get it but not at that price tag, sheesh. The encounter on Jakku is neat, the figures are good, the building is me but the creature is really cool. I like the combination of brick-built and special creature leg molds, the result looks superb and it lends itself to greater reusabillity, especially since it has studs on the leg molds. The bright blue is a horrible eye sore though, they should have gone with dark grey for greater accuracy, my gosh that is eye-seering. The resistence X-Wing looks really nice, if not an exact replica of Poe's in a different color. The only thing I would have changed is the inclusion of a turret on the underside of the craft to better represent the scene from the movie. Finn with a bloodstained helmet would have been really cool but would likely never happen for obvious reasons.

I'm really intrigued by the beasts' functions. I'm glad they each have something unique, I'm very glad the design team is getting creative with functions. It's also pretty cool that Ekimu has both waist swivel and a gearbox. UTD still looks awesome and I just now noticed he also has the waist function, interesting. It's cool he has 2 different functions but that's a lot of upper body to be swiveling. It looks like quake beast has an inward-swinging arm and I can't quit tell what storm beast's is, though if I had to guess I'd say you squeeze his sides at the beam pieces and his arms come forward in 'hugging' motion. Also, Onua's mask blended with trans neon green is GLORIOUS. Umarak's mask looks pretty sweet with the trans neon range too but black and green are my bread and butter.

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion

Ghost Rider has back printing! I really like the torso printing on him and I'm glad they went with the torn leather exposing the flames underneath to make it pop, otherwise it would have looked a little more dull. Also, now that I have a better look at the flame hair piece, it is absolutely perfect, I couldn't imagine anything better. The only thing that could be better on GR would be leg printing (which would just be creases in the leather so not a big deal that they aren't there) or dark grey legs with black molded boots. I'm ok with the head print, though I still wish the teeth were a little sharper. The bike looks awesome and I love it. The size doesn't bother me, the only issue I have with it is the lack of proper handle bars for GR to grip onto. the little black horns just don't cut it. If they were those longhorn, er, horns in black, that would be a different story. Also, I think the bike would have benefited from some printing or stickers(blasphemy I know) on the Nexo shield piece on the front and the 2 round 4x4 plates on the sides just to add some character and style. Okay, and maybe a more prominent exhaust pipe, or dual exhaust pipes preferably but now I'm just getting nit-picky. Hobgoblin looks fantastic as does his nice little glider. Heck, even the chunk of street they threw in looks really nice, well above average for a little token scenery build IMO and it even has a function. -
Honestly, I'd prefer to stick to the core team every year while introducing a new hero character in the summer to fight the villain wave, like Takanuva did in 2003 and Ekimu last year. Hopefully, if the line continues past next year I think Ekimu should be more behind the scenes from a story perspective and bring in a new hero or Toa to freshen things up and represent new elements. What HF did worked well adding in new characters a little at a time and swapping them out to keep the team fresh but it also meant that certain characters didn't get much spotlight, like poor Stringer or Bulk while characters like Furno, Stormer and Rocka got a new version every year and in some cases multiple versions. I'd be concerned that certain characters would get pushed aside for the sake of ensuring we still had a new Tahu and Kopaka every single wave. Pohatu wouldn't stand a chance for sure, he'd be left back in a village polishing rocks to make room for a Toa of Lightning or something cooler and flashier.

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion

If true, that set sounds awesome. Also, finally some hd images of the Civil War sets. The airport battle and Black Panther's jet are must haves for sure, Crossbone's jeep is meh but the figures are good. Probably pass on it though, especially with the rest of the Bionicle sets and the GHOST RIDER!!! set coming out, along with maybe this rumored set. -
Hhmm, I'm' intrigued. Hopefully we'll get a release date soon according to the facebook page. I like the sound of more seasons though.

I'm kinda surprised too considering the guns from the alien invasion theme are used en masse. I do wish they would have used these guns for Falcon instead of the alien blasters even though they are still cool guns. They're just way over-used. -
That theme is really nice. I'm a sucker for dramatic theatrical music. It suits Bionicle well and I could definitely see this being the theme for the show. I really hope the game comes out in the US soon, it really kinda sucks.

Actually it was there, it's in his other hand. Take a look at the photos again and I'm sure you'll see it now. I just assumed everyone saw it and didn't really mention it. It's the same trans orange chain we got from the last wave of Hero Factory sets, I use one on my Ghost Rider moc. It's nice to finally have some pis of the box art. I like the one for the Ghost Rider set, he's front and center, whipping his chain around as well he should. The new War Machine looks very good and the skirt piece does wonders for Scarlet Witch. -
LEGO Marvel's Avengers Video Game Discussion
ToaDraco replied to TheBrickPal's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
I've beaten the main story and I'm going for the solo film levels. It's a really great game so far. My biggest complaint is the jumping around that the story does. It's completely unnecessary and and adds nothing the the flow, if anything it completely ruins the flow and I'm baffled as to why they did that. All other LEGO games follow the progression of the movies like they should but this one just throws it into a blender. I hope this doesn't become a new trend because it is awful. One other thing I hate is the lack of a map. Why would you have an open world game and not have a map!? The minimap isn't that helpful and it's a shot in the dark every time you head for one of the little glowing dots. LEGO Marvel Superheros had a nice map but they couldn't be bothered to include one in this game? Also, do you think we will get a DLC pack with playable characters based on the sets releasing later this year? It's baffling that Spider-Man isn't in the game and the only explanation I can think of is he's getting his own DLC(hopefully) I really, really want Ghost Rider and his bike in the game and considering he's getting his own set this year, it stinks that he isn't in the game nor is any of the other characters coming out later this year except White Tiger for some reason.- 647 replies

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Video Game Discussion
ToaDraco replied to npgcole's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
I was expecting them to wait until episode 9 but I guess we're getting one game per movie now. The later ones will likely include anthology films but since we don't have any yet we're getting 'exclusive content that bridges the gap between RoTJ and TFA'. Hopefully it's canon stuff like from the comics. I'm also guessing there will be some stuff based on Rebels. Even then, it seems like they won't have enough content to compare to more recent LEGO games. It appears that they might include RoTJ at least, based on one of those screenshots. Maybe they'll include a remake of the original trilogy as well?- 201 replies

Well part of it is acceptance of what we're getting, another part is you can't really judge a set until you have it in hand as there is always something about the build or design that you didn't expect that might pleasantly surprise you or a gimmick that might actually be fun. You can only get so much from cgi that highlights every detail of a piece that doesn't necessarily translate properly to the real-world model. Sure there are some fickle fans but I think for the most part its a matter of pics versus in-hand experience that makes people change their minds. I imediately took to the 2016 sets for the most part and my opinion on them hasn't really changed much. I think some are fantastic(Onua, Umarak) and some are downright awful(Pohatu, Ketar). The rest fall somewhere in between, I for one welcome more technic in the builds as long as it isn't technic for the sake of technic. It needs to work with the design and contribute to the build and overall aesthetic. So far I've found the builds of this years sets to be far more enjoyable than that of last years for that reason. I like more complexity and creative design choices.

I don't understand the flat back complaint considering it's necessity for the unification feature.

So I finally got Onua, hands down my favorite of the new wave(slight bias). Only changes I made were swapping out the ++O pin in his hammer drill with the OO+ pin from his PoU(which changes nothing for the unification feature) so the head of the weapon doesn't swivel so freely which is rather annoying and I'm unsure why they didn't do that in the first place. Second, I replaced all 3 of his grey upper joints with the trans purple equivalents and the result is glorious. I've also chosen to display him with his shoulder armor tilted forward slightly which really gives the appearance of bulkier shoulders.I love the mask, easily one of my favorites of G2 so far and I don't mind the silver, in fact I think it looks quite nice. Although it doesn't retain the similarities to the original Pakari,it is a clear evolution of the Mask of Earth and is rather reminiscent of the movie version of the Great Ruru. It's a far better Nuva mask than the Pakairi Nuva, that's for sure, I never liked how it looked like a tiki mask. Overall, I like this version of Onua a lot more than the previous one which I love so that says a lot. The main thing I didn't care for in the previous one was the exaggerated proportions made him look like a giant chest with short stubby limbs sticking out as opposed to a ripped brute. It made him difficult to pose and is generally more distorted looking, although I liked the individuality it afforded him. The only thing I dislike about Onua Uniter is the gold/trans clear crystal add-ons. It baffles and annoys me that we didn't get them blended with trans purple and it's a darn shame. The trans clear blend makes them look like prototype pieces that skipped finalization and really highlights how horribly the gold bleeds into the trans color on these pieces. It just over powers on all of the crystal add-ons and ruins what would otherwise be beautiful pieces. One minor thing is that purple is the only color that we didn't get the new blade piece in. It would have been nice if 2 were included with Terak or Quake Beast. I'm glad Onua doesn't have them though, his drill-gat-hammer is awesome and suits him well.

I thought that too! You know, it would make a lot of sense if we did get Jack Skelington in the Disney minifig series. -
Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion

I gotta say, I'm a little disappointed with Ghost Rider's face print, it's just not menacing enough and it looks a little scrunched down giving him kind of a big forehead and the mouth should be open a little more with more square teeth. The roundness on them just doesn't look quite right. I love the bike more the more I look at it, the only thing I dislike the little black horns for handle bars, they are just too small and he can't actually put his hands on them. We also get a look at his torso print which appears there might be a couple holes in the jacket exposing flames and a chain belt, though I would have preferred that to be printed on the waist piece which would be more useful for moccing. Hopefully he has leg printing as well, though I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't. The flaming head is hard to get right but I think this is the best they could have done and it looks much better than the Infearno piece IMO. -
Super Saiyan Ekimu confirmed. That Umarak/Onua combiner(?) is pretty sweet. Hopefully the combiners will start to get more attention and actually have something to do in the story. I loved how G1 used combiner models to populate the mythos with new species and such, I miss that world building.

It's very disappointing that the beast jaws are fixed and can't move. I really like the recolored crystal blades in Lava Beast and the trans black crystal shells are a nice surprise. The trans neon green head pieces under the masks(?) are a welcome surprise as well. Quake Beast's mask being the only solid purple in the whole set kinda stands out like a sore thumb but otherwise, he looks great and is very reminiscent of a Brachydios from the Monster Hunter series with the crystal appearance and his color scheme. I can't get over Umrak's new Uber Rancor form, so awesome! Insta-buy for me. Quake Beast was my favorite of the 3 initially but I gotta say, Lava Beast has to be my new favorite, just so awesome and Balrog-like. I really like his Wyvern-esque wings and the color scheme is great. The only thing I don't like about him is that from that angle he looks very empty in the back. Storm Beast has a good color scheme but is more mediocre compared to the other 2, although it's nice that it has a tail. Also, is it me or are the hands swapped around? The thumbs are upside down and it looks rather odd. Will there ever be a toy fair where there aren't any sets put together wrong? Hmm, you might be on to something there. Perhaps they do have brain stalks though, and hitting them makes the jaws chomp instead of knocking the masks off, that would be pretty sweet actually.
