Storm beast looks better than I thought and the function is great, though it's unfortunate pose-ability had to be sacrificed. I don't mind the open sockets on the hands but the upper arms just look awful. That crystal armor just isn't enough to cover those long beams. I'ts also unfortunate his head can't be moved up but that torso build is something else. I'm really looking forward to UtD when he posts it.

It was awesome. My local theatre was playing it a day early and I thought it was one of the best Marvel movies to date. Way better than AoU and frankly imo better than WS. The airport set is pretty accurate the others, not so much but everything represented besides the truck appeared in the film, just not necessarily as accurate looking or in those specific scenes.

Awesome! You know, I was originally let down by Ekimu's new build because it felt so obvious and didn't make use of many new parts in interesting ways and the color scheme felt unbalanced but I gotta say, with the new cg pictures from tru and this review, I'm converted completely. What a glorious looking set. I really like how the pauldrons are angled and the trans blue really pops. The color scheme looks much more balanced in the plastic for sure and although he only uses one of the new molds for the winter wave, he uses the recycled parts perfectly with a couple recolors. He's obviously G2's Takanuva at this point and I wonder what the explanation will be for his sudden growth.

That one on the left is perfect! I reeaally want a complete Vahi in the plastic just like that one. I'm glad to hear the graphic novel is awesome. Mine should be arriving tomorrow and I can't wait to check it out, long with my last set for this wave of Bionicle, Ketar, as I already have everyone else and I gotta say, I really like them all a lot. Way better than I thought for some of them.(I'm looking at you Pohatu)
-
Wow, already? Awesome review! I'm disapointed the leg joints are the same as Pohatu's upper arms and not bright orange like I thought. The black/orange blades are still really cool, the Beast Mask is awesome and I actually really like the crystal armor piece now that I have a better look at it, though I'm still disappointed that lacks any kind of attachment points aside from the socket. The chest print looks fantastic and actually reminds me of the chest print from the combiner beast from Hero Factory Attack from Below wave. He's actually better armored than I realized with the exception of the back. I think if they attached the neck frill on his upper back instead of the back of the head, it would have solved the problem and eliminate the awkward posing of the head. I'll probably do this to mine when I get one. It's unfortunate but not unexpected that the Tahu mask doesn't fit on the head, though I'm glad it isn't super easy to accidentally bump the jaw and knock the mask off unintentionally. Speaking of which, the trans-neon green/bright red mask just doesn't do it for me, though I like the callback to the corrupted Tahu Nuva mask from way back when. That red/green blended mask is still one of my favorites from G1. I feel like of the 3 corrupted masks, Onua's works the best, though my obsession with all things black and green might make me a tad biased. I really like the pose-able claws, though I wish the thumb was pose-able(quite ironic indeed). I really love the Wyvern/Balrog/demon look of this guy! Overall I love this set and it's easily my second favorite of the wave, right behind UtD.

These pictures are doing a fantastic job of presenting these sets. The more I see Ekimu, the better my impression of him gets. Lava Beast is still the best of the 3 and I like that he can fly, given his wyvern-esque look. That Beast combiner is awesome and huge! I'm also quite glad that they are a hoard enemy as I like the idea of the Toa going up against an army of monsters, just like the good ol' days of the Bohrok and Visorak.

I got Gali the other day and she's a pretty decent set. The weapon leaves something to be desired but the color scheme is fantastic and the asymmetry works well. She looks even better with Akida on her back with the tail and all. That just leaves Ketar for me, who's coming in the mail along with the 2nd graphic novel everyone is talking about. Hopefully they'll be here in a couple days.

If they make a G1 connection, it will be VERY vague in nature and really only be a shout out for the fans of the original series, maybe at the very end of the 2017 story. Maybe the Toa regain their memories and, with their mission complete, open up a portal using the Vahi to a very familiar place in 'the time before time'. I don't expect any closure of the various loose ends nor do I really want them or think that would make sense here per se. I like the design of the upper half and I really hope we get both pieces next year, with obvious revisions to the bottom half, along with the MoUP of course.

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion
ToaDraco replied to Quicksilver's topic in LEGO Licensed
Same here. I'm still kicking myself for not getting the Ant-Man and X-Men Blackbird sets when I had the chance. There's no way I'm missing any other great Marvel sets. I missed the Helicarrier too but there's no way I can afford a big UCS set for a few years, especially when my LEGO budget is consumed by LEGO Marvel and Bionicle with the occasional Star Wars set. -

Ah so it does! Dang, for some reason I thought it was out in August. Thanks, I'll give that a whirl. I just know that it takes them a week or two to get the sets out in my area and this is one set I don't want to have to wait on. -

I think the Spider-man sets come out in June and the Doctor Strange in August to coincide with the release of the movie, correct me if I'm wrong. Btw, is there a way I can pre-order the Ghost Rider team up set? I've never heard of pre-ordering a LEGO set but I'll totally do it. I want that set day one. -

I'd also expect that fancy cape in red as well. Very nice indeed. -
I am totally down for a Bionicle story in a hellish underworld setting. Hell, it might even explain the origins of the Skull army.

As a mega Ghost Rider fan, I cannot contain my excitement for the Ghost Rider team up set!!! It looks so good and I like the shaping of the bike, especially the headlight area. It appears to roughly be inspired by the version of his bike that appeared in Agents of .S.M.A.S.H. so hopefully that means he might appear in the Spider-Man and/or Avengers Assemble cartoons pretty soon. The Rider needs more of a presence! That episode of SMASH with GR was so awesome and perfectly encapsulated the character. I'm getting a bit side-tracked here. The bridge set is awesome too and I'll definitely try to get it somehow, maybe for Christmas. It's just too good to miss. -
Yeah I still see a lot of old Ninjago, Chima and even Star Wars sets around. I haven't seen any Masters since January(and even then there were only a couple). I definitely haven't seen any Protectors or LoSS since December.

I seem to see Skull Warrior and Skull Scorpio still on shelves at Walmarts and Targets near where I live and the 2016 sets have been flying off shelves. Every week I go to Walmart for groceries, they are out of 3 of the six Toa with a different one on the shelf than there was a week ago, same with the creatures while they rarely have Umarak. I went there to get Gali or Pohatu and Akida or Ketar the other day as they are the only 4 I have left to get and they were the 3 of the 6 sets they didn't have so I grabbed Akida. I stopped in the following day and they had 3 Pohatu's and no Akidas. A fellow shopper grabbed Uxar while I was there for her kid for Easter(I'm assuming given it was the day before Easter and she had a list). My local Target isn't that much different, though they usually have a Couple Onuas, Tahus, Kopakas and Umaraks stocked on shelves, which I imagine are the top sellers.(my sister works there and tells me every time she gets to stock the LEGO aisle In fact she let me know when the CA:CW sets were going to be on shelves) i'm not going to get into the ridiculous arguing Twistlaw started but I don't think we have sufficient data to presume anything about how well the sets are doing and saying anything in either favor is speculation at best. It's only March for crying out loud, give it some time. Akida is a nice little build and I appreciate the stand included. It has enough articulation for a fish and the color scheme is great. The function is rather pointless but it works, though I would have rather had a tail-whipping function instead. Pohatu isn't as bad in person but he is still by far the weakest of the Toa sets. The mask is WAY better than the 2015 one which was super derpy IMO. The tan is nice to have but I would rather they stuck to one brown for the whole sets as the number of colors and their distribution leave something to be desired. The shoulder construction isn't the greatest and he looks unarmored from the back. I don't get why they chose to have the armor on sideways and the upper arm is just thin. I don't like the desert camo but I do like the black designs on top of it. The weapon is incredibly mediocre though. I would much rather had him dual wielding stone flails and leave the other half of the staff off completely. Or actually I would have left the crystal blade piece on his back as a backup weapon like the 'dagger' he had in his previous incarnation. I do like that the boot look carried over but the asymmetry did not which I think the set could have really benefited from. That just leaves Gali and Ketar left for me to get before the summer wave hits.

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion

Aaaand still no Ghost Rider or Spider-Man for the game... At least those dlc packs sound pretty awesome and there seems to be a great selection of characters, though it's disappointing Mack and Hunter aren't in the AoS one and they could've slipped Ghost Rider into the Dr. Strange one somehow I'm sure. -
Awesome, thanks for the pics of the Kopaka/Gali combiner. It looks pretty good and I like the weapons. The monocle is kinda funny and I like the scaled look of the shoulders. If anyone builds the Tahu/Pohatu combiner, please share some pics! Hopefully we'll get the Onua/Lewa combiner soon, I love black and green so hopefully it'll look pretty cool.

They are interesting. "Twotoa" is an interesting name, though it would have been cooler if we got Kaita(though they likely wouldn't be called that). Back on the discussion of trans red, it would look fantastic as both a bone and shell piece and I could see trans red ribcages too, that would be sweet. As much as I wish Makuta will have trans red, we're likely getting more trans orange. *sigh* On that note, I just got Tahu and Ikir leaving me with just Gali and Pohatu with their respective creatures to get. Tahu doesn't look as messy as he does in pictures and I really like the shaping on his back and shoulders. The mask is a nice improvement and the weapon gimmicks are oddly satisfying if not rather pointless. He looks great with Ikir but of all the other Toa I have so far, his combiner form seems the hardest to get to stand up without falling over. I do really wish Tahu had more red and honestly if the trans orange was replaced with trans red, I would be super okay with the lack of solid red but as it is there just isn't enough of it. The bright blue accents are quite nice and I wish there was a little more of it on him. Ikir is fantastic and easily one of the best creatures.

Or how about some actual trans red... The trans orange is nice and all but I'm sick of it. The trans red looked so good and I would love to see it used in constraction again.

Crossbones really should have gotten a printed bulletproof jacket to make him look better. I don't know what they could have done for the fist weapons but they could have done something. -

So who else is hoping we get a playable Rancor bigfig? Maybe we could get a Wampa too. Also, I'm hoping we get a decent range of vehicles like a Jedi Interceptor and several others from across the the movies and shows.- 201 replies

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion
ToaDraco replied to Quicksilver's topic in LEGO Licensed
Heh, whatdoyaknow? I wouldn't have thought of that. As a Bionicle fan though, I can't really see him as anything but Ekimu. -
Well in Revenge of the Skull spiders, it was revealed that Ekimu was granted a vision of the future from the mask of time eons ago, hence why me made the masks of power and hid them across the island, he saw the vision of his brother's turn to the dark side. He's been planning counter measures to fight Makuta at every turn, despite not knowing his brother's plan. In short, he does have an agenda. Defeat Makuta's evil and return Okoto to its golden age.In regards to JtO, I thought it was pretty good. Obviously it wasn't as in depth or 'big' as we all would like but I feel some people had their expectations too high or something. It was exactly what I was expecting, though I thought the voice acting and writing was good. I didn't have high hopes there. I didn't mind the voice modulation at all and I actually liked it a lot. I think if they had the chance to make this into a full 13 episode season, we could have had much better pacing, character, and world building. Worldbuilding? There really wasn't much time to worldbuild, heck there was barely enough time to do the general synopsis for this half of the year's story so I don't know what you were expecting there. The voice acting was pretty good, on par with other LEGO programming at least. The music was great and very reminiscent of early G1 and the animations were very good I thought, a bit slow at certain points, sure but overall very nice. The plot was disjointed, I'll give you that one. I don't get what you mean by 'characters swapping personalities' as each one, except maybe Kopaka, had a clear personality. Kopaka was the only one who seemed a tad disjointed. I disagree that the Labyrinth was 'unorignial' I though it was pretty cool, though I have seen something similar in Star Wars The Clone Wars, God of War III and Hulk and the Agents of .S.M.A.S.H. I disagree with many of your points but I agree it certainly wasn't perfect or ideal. I'm just not sure what you were expecting. I tempered my expectations to the likely budget, time constraints and general direction of G2. Heck, I'm just happy this even got made and that we get 2 more later in the year. Maybe next year we'll get more than 4 episodes so the story can be better fleshed out. As much as I would love this to be a series with as much effort, budget and screen time as Ninjago, it's just not realistically gonna happen.

That is a glorious model, well done sir! It seems a tiny bit small compared to a minifig, though come to think of it the car was quite small in AA. It would be nice if a minifig could fit inside, though I'm sure that might be difficult. Now let's see the Arkham Knight Batmobile!
