    TC-14 Lego Promo

I totally agree- whilst white Boba was based on Ralph Mcquarrie's concept art (I believe), I think the majority of SW fans would rather see something based on the films, and when chroming can enhance the realism, makes the fig consequently more sought after.

    BrickLinking a UCS Millennium Falcon

As you mentioned it's also possible to dye pieces - cavegod did so in his UCS Sebulba's Podracer which looks fine to me and results are supposed to be high quality, without affecting either the Lego 'shine' to a piece or the thickness. I never realised you could before I saw that thread Could be worth investigating if it's possible to achieve a result close to the original pieces with the black ones and some dye!

    Space Marines!

So impressed with the thought, creativity and good old building skill which has been implemented into this well thought out project. Who'd of thought such a great burgeoning concept could stem from a render based on a fuzzy CMF preliminary image! When I first saw the pic of the marines on CUUSOO, I thought it looked pretty cool and just skipped it by, but looking at the pics, instructions etc contained within the thread I'm gonna hop over there now and add my support. Fantastic job hjmediastudios

    Original Castle or LOTR?

I voted that I prefer Classic Castle theme, but would like to see more LOTR. This is because I really can't look past the old, 80s CC sets- the generic smiley face combined with the modular castles, lack of 'good' and 'bad' guys, multiple castles and much narrower variety of available parts make this era both the best we've had so far but simultaneously un-re-visitable (is that a word ) Therefore I'd prefer to accept what is past is past and move onto these fantastic LOTR sets and see TLG explore more of such a great fantasy world.

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors

I still have chromed lightsaber hilts in immaculate condition despite having played with them when I was younger I think for TLG to chrome a fig they must be pushing it as a collectors item, rare, or something to that tune-so they really should go the full distance for aesthetics and chrome the hands

    TC-14 Lego Promo

Thanks for sharing ACPin Looks a great fig to me and one that totally fits the occasion, what with it being the re-release year of TPM and a figure that actually makes sense to chrome.

Episode IV - Tantive takeover Diorama

Great creation markus1984! Love the way you've captured the scene, the movement and figure placement within the dio is excellent. Also great use of that curved brick for the top arch of the doorway, great little bit of part usage which I feel subtly adds to the feel of the style used within the film.

    Droid Sale!

I absolutely love this series- Legostein you capture the feel and atmosphere of the SW universe brilliantly, made even more impressive by not using licensed parts. It's got a whole 80's vibe to it which I love! Keep up the good work

    LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

Many thanks for sharing Grogall! As has been said by other members, it's going to be an expensive year what with these sets and the new SW coming out, but it'll be worth it as the sets are looking more and more beautiful with every new picture

    Redesigning old UCS sets

They are, but the underlying principle remains the same. Also, there is no need to re-release the falcon at this moment in time- things haven't progressed far enough in the world of Lego to provide a significant improvement upon the previous one. The X-Wing however looks in desperate need of a re-do, as I think has been previously mentioned, the current system X-Wing could even be considered superior to the UCS version. If you look at it that way, the UCS is no longer the single 'definitive' Lego X-Wing, in the way that the Falcon is. This surely is what defines the UCS series? I don't feel there should be repetitive releases of UCS sets in the same way there has been of X-Wings, Falcons etc in system scale, just that if one can be improved upon to such a degree that it makes it worthwhile releasing a new set, I'm all for it.

    Redesigning old UCS sets

Yes, they are collectables and as such I agree they shouldn't be released again without being built from scratch using modern techniques and bricks, thereby creating a totally different model of the same craft. The collectable minifigures are also collectable (as evidenced in the series name), but will that stop TLG from releasing a spartan or a roman in a future set? Do you think it should?

    MOC: Teutoburg forest

I love how you've created atmosphere in this scene-can't quite put my finger on where you've gone right but it feels like it's a dark and creepy forest! Love the Roman expressions too, great job

    Redesigning old UCS sets

In my opinion, updated versions of older UCS sets would most certainly be a good thing- for example the TIE Interceptor featured blue accents on the older version (!) and the X-Wing is looking very dated. The SW ships date easily with new techniques and new bricks frequently being introduced to improve the quality of the line as a whole, which is why older sets aren't viewed as classics in the same way as for example Black Seas Barracuda is. This, in addition to the rapidly expanding AFOL community who have not had a chance to get their hands on sets such as the Star Destroyer and MF would provide an excellent reason to re-release tired sets, but only when necessary. I also subscribe to the view that if collectors cherish their sets for the value in that particular design, then they won't be alienated by newer sets, and if they are then they are more likely to buy every set anyway and thus continue the hobby.
  16. Thanks for such a great review WhiteFang, appreciate the effort and thought that goes in For the series, it looks to be the most solid series so far but without any standout minifigs- none that I 'must have' but I certainly quite like them all!

    [MOC] Big Angry Ewok!

Great little scene- well imagined and presented in brick form. Really dig the studs-out technique used on the Ewok, captures their furry appearance well And much love for the 74-Z
  18. Currently got a mini scale AAT in the works, count me in!

    Jedi vs Rancor

I'm surprised no one's already mentioned this, but I love the use of old dark grey and dark bley for the rock walls- usually the 2 don't go too well together but you've managed to pull it off, great job
  21. Well today I received my 6285 BSB. Wasn't quite sure what to expect as I won it on eBay for only £45, based upon one poor quality image. I thought there may be parts missing etc. However to my utter amazement, it was in excellent condition with crisp sails, all minifigs, no missing parts. Think I've grabbed myself a great bargain!

LEGO Star Wars 2011 Pictures & Rumors

Hi, just thought I'd add my opinion on the prelims for the June 2011 sets :) Millennium Falcon- Looks awesome, just starting my collection back up after a few years off, so aside from the set itself which I'll be getting, it will also be a good way for me to get flesh heros! Podracers- Look to be quite disappointing, smaller and just not as 'wow' as the original set, however great minifigure selection mean I'll most likely end up purchasing it anyway. Sith Infiltrator- Despite some of the negative thoughts towards this set, i think it looks great. Big, reasonably accurate, and with a great minifigure selection. Geonosian Fighter- Probably won't get this one, however looks like a solid set, and Ki Adi Mundi looks amazing! Ewok Attack- Looks a very good set, 3 good minifigs and a great addition to the Endor Bunker. Republic Frigate- Although i won't be getting it, it looks a great set, although not a huge improvement on the 2007 Republic Cruiser, judging by the prelims. All in all looks a fantastic wave with a great minifigure line up

Would you open a MISB SYSTEM Pirate set?

Personally I wouldn't buy a MISB pirate set. I like building and displaying sets, but also respect the fact that others prefer MISB- so if i buy used (but good/perfect condition) sets, its leaves the MISB sets to collectors. Best way i think :)

My complete collection of Star Wars Minifigs

Great collection, well done! Is one of the 'extra' figures the older version of the destroyer droid ? I can't seem to find him on bricklink!
