    MOC: The Milkmaid

This is interesting, Morphy! It does look good from a distance, as the pixels blend together. Are these real bricks or digital bricks? Nice build!

    The Lord's Chambers

This is a nice little build, RedViper! I really like the tapestry of cheese slopes on the wall. The only suggestion I have is that the room seems a little bit bare. Perhaps more details could be added, like clothing storage, rugs, blankets, armor or weapons rack, etc? Nice little build!

    HSS Religious Burrium Aqua

I like the tops of the pillars and the old-style brick and plate dome. Nice build, Kerntechniker!

    Above average in polling

Haha! That is humorous! You are correct in that not every set can be above average, but I think there is a logical reason for it. Most of the people that spend time responding to such polls are people that viewed the topic due to their interest in the set. It is possible that every set that users comment on is above what they personally believe the "average set" to be.

    AoM: Barracks Phase I

Thanks! Coming from an excellent MOCer like yourself, I take this as quite a compliment!

    AoM: Archery Phase I

Thanks! I agree on the smaller tree. I wanted a layered fir look. I was in a bit of a hurry with this tree, as I spent so much time on the deciduous tree, so I did not realize that I mad the trunk transition directly from 2x2 to 1x1 with only one leaf layer in between. I have seen firs that were windblown with leaves out to one side that are most noticeable near the top, but I think you are right that more leaves lower down should reflect the offset. Thanks! The tree is definitely where I spent the most time. I am glad my work paid off.
  7. Hello Eurobricks members! I am Slegengr, a 23-year-old man from central Illinois who is proud to admit to being an AFOL. I have been viewing this site for some time now, and have finally decided that I am ready to join. I had to reach a point where I was settled enough to actually build after college, where space was limited. I have now been working as an engineer for over a year and have established a building area. My highest interests are in Castle (especially late 80's to early 90's), Pirates (especially Imperial Soldiers), Star Wars (especially Episode II and III clone troopers), Space (especially Blacktron II), LOTR, Alpha Team, Rock Raiders, and Adventurers, to name a few. I like basically anything LEGO. I am both a collector and a MOCer, though my recent MOCing has been limited by space and time. Because of this, I recently have been collecting sets and parts for future MOCs. I am looking forward to improving my MOCing ability and learning from the many experienced members creating such amazing MOCs. Thanks, Slegengr

Nice to know. I will continue looking into the possibility of a central Illinois LUG.

    A Kaliphlin Oasis Home

Sweet build, legoman! I like the incorporation of colors, the rounded portion, the fountain... everything others noticed above. I also think it would look better with more landscaping, but I like that you built with what you had (rather than resorting to LDD to use pieces you do not have). Nice work!

    AoM: Farm Phase 1

Neat build, Sir Gareth! I also think this is a nice portrayal of planting seeds in a tilled garden. The rows and 1x1 round plate dirt clods really stand out. Nice work!

Thanks for the compliments from such excellent MOCing members of the guild!

    lego bust

Don't get busted for busting busted-out bust bricks! Seriously, I like what Carson Haupt did, though usually busts are only the shoulders up, so I think the cheese slopes should be flipped over to slope from the neck down and away from the head. Just my 2 cents.

    AoM: Archery Phase I

Thanks! The trees are the main aspect of this build, as that is where I spent the most time. Thanks! Thanks! Yes, it is Erland Blar(Blue in Norse)'s flag. The large tree definitely took me the most time. I did not add enough substructure to hold the branches together and the trunk did not have a technic axle running through the round 2x2 bricks originally, so I was constantly bumping off completed branches or dropping the entire thing on the floor as it toppled over at the trunk. I was pretty frustrated at times, but I knew I would like the results, so I stuck it out. Thanks! Phase II may still be a ways off. I plan to complete all of AoM, completing it one phase at a time for each category. But, you can expect new builds soon!

    [MOC] 6263 Imperial Outpost Redesigned

Neat build, Robinson! I always liked this set, and your modern update is very accurate with some cool details. The tan instead of white and yellow looks pretty good. I like the canted dock and the arches over openings. I also like how the structure was kept to the same scale with unrealistic openings for play value just like the original. Keep on Brickin'!

Book II - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion

I have updated my AoM: Barracks Phase I build. I also posted the two following builds: AoM: Archery Phase I AoM-ArcheryPhase1-2 by Slegengr, on Flickr AoM: Stables Phase I AoM-StablesPhase1-2 by Slegengr, on Flickr I also made a quick little build of what I did on Saturday, as I thought it related to Mitgardia. During the winter, we heat our house using a wood-burning stove. This means that we need to stockpile wood ready to burn before winter sets in. We hauled several loads of wood to our wood-storage shed and split many of the larger logs into more manageable logs that will burn better. WoodSplitting1 by Slegengr, on Flickr

    AoM: Barracks Phase I

I have updated this build and photos based on comments and things I wanted to improve. I still do not have photo-editing software, but it should be arriving on Friday. Thanks for all the comments and constructive criticism!

    Great Elk Longhouse

I love all the details in this build, especially the tile walls, Norse-style, and landscape. My favorite part is the bell tower and the boy pulling the rope to ring the bell. I am glad this is for Mitgardia!

    Patrolling the Border Pass (Freebuild)

I love the snow and ice in this build, but the tree is the best part. That is an excellent representation of a wind-blown fir tree. Nice work!

Home - AoM: House Phase III

This house has some really cool details added. I particularly like the sloped and angled surrounding ground. The cellar/basement door is very interesting, as are the color and texture variations across the walls. Those are some marvelous Mitgardian curtains in the upper story window. I also like that a round tower corner is incorporated. I have always wanted to live in a house with a round tower corner like this. Great to see more excellent Mitgardian builds, MKJoshA!

    lego bust

I have seen some cool-looking busts made by placing a minifigure helmet/hat/hair on a microfigure. I plan to incorporate this style in a build of mine, so I thought it might be worth a suggestion.

    SG's AoM: Farm Phase 2

I also think you did a nice job on this vegetable field. The pumpkins are excellent. One note, since I have considered this in my own build: Corn ears grow out of the side of the stalk near the middle, rather than out of the top of the stalk. I noticed this also because I live in the heart of the corn belt in the USA, so have seen corn on a regular basis for my entire life. To implement this, I used a similar stalk strategy to yours with cones slid over a stem on the 3-stem grass piece near the middle. I do not intend that you need to fix this, as I do not think GoH needs to be founded 100% on reality, but this was something I noticed. Nice build and nice base for the build!

    Slegengr in Illinois, USA

What is the nearest large city to you? My parents live north of Peoria (my weekend home) and I work in the middle of nowhere (about 45 miles north and east of Champaign/Urbana). I have been wishing for a central Illinois LUG. Maybe there is potential?

    MOC: Auguri Village

This is a sweet build! I love the details and the off-angled buildings. The ground looks a little too pixelated to be realistic, but I also think this gives it a nice LEGO feel. Nice work!
