Very cool build, BrickCurve! The quicksand is done very nicely with the cheese slopes. Nice action in the scene as well, though reality would have it that it is difficult to be killed by quicksand due to the buoyancy of a human body on the denser sand/water mixture. Of course, GoH can be more interesting at times if science is not followed exactly, so I hope I have not taken away from this build with this comment. I also particularly like the border under this build. The only critique I have on it would be that it seems a bit tall for the small, flat vignette on top of it. Brick on, BrickCurve!

Nice little build, mccoyed! The color choice (though much the same as kabel's potter's structure) is very nice and the style is very Kaliphlin-esque. The minifig posing and activity in this build make it seem pleasantly busy. Brick on, mccoyed!

Do you ever NOT pay extreme attention to detail in your MOCs? Joking aside, this build is spectacular! Every portion of this MOC is in intricately realistic detail! I love the curving roof, the angled walls, the trees, the water wheel, the detailed greebling everywhere! Brick on, cesbrick!

Pictures work for me. This is quite the build, Hinckley! I love the greebling around windows and doors, as well as on the walls! Until I received an odd-looking goat-headed minifigure in a random LEGO eBay lot, I did not even know of the existence of Fabuland. I researched it after that and discovered a very interesting new LEGO world. Though I do not have much Fabuland, nor do I build for Fabuland, I still find it very interesting to see the animal characters instead of humans. The water in this build seems a little bit plain, and yet I think it fits the Fabuland theme well. My favorite detail are the guard dogs with crossbows over the gate. Nice work and keep bricking, Hinckley!

I had basic brick buckets that I remember before this, but the best earliest memory I have was 6086: Black Knights' Castle (or Dungeon Master's Castle). I got this for Christmas with my two older brothers when I was 3 years old and my brothers were 5 and 6.

For anyone interested, here is a photo inside the larger tree to show how it is done. Parts and inspiration came from the spider leg joints from multiple LOTR Mirkwood spiders sets. I tried to incorporate as many angles vertically and horizontally as possible to achieve a somewhat-spherical appearance.

Welcome to Eurobricks, dagger_of_time! I was in a similar place as you, as I followed the forums for 3+years before I joined. I am interested in seeing what you build for the LOTR competition!

Welcome to Eurobricks, Quutamo! I am looking forward to seeing your space builds. P.S. The translator seems to have done pretty well.

I can definitely relate! I even have already opened the sets (as I have a personal policy of not allowing a set to stay in the box, as the building and creativity cannot be utilized) and I still have trouble sorting out sets. I keep thinking, "This is going to be a pain to sort back into individual sets some day to rebuild them." I prefer MOCing, though, so I have begun to break down and sort sets for MOCing purposes. I can't say exactly how I convinced myself to sort sets instead of always buying parts on BrickLink, but I finally just began to sort and have found it much easier now that I feel like the decision has been made to MOC rather than stock/collect sets.

Book II Challenge III Dwarven Affairs
Slegengr replied to Ecclesiastes's topic in Guilds of Historica
That is an amazing castle for the introduction, Ecc! I am really looking forward to seeing what others build for this! Though it seems to be the popular choice, I will be choosing the side of men. I have quite a number of dwarves and interest in building for them in developing my part of Mitgardia, but my main interest is in the men of Mitgardia and Erland's Falki Ridders, so for this challenge I will be building for men. -
Thanks, SK! I love to see good borders around MOCs (unless they have a free-form blending with the background), so I try to incorporate them. I have always loved the Black Falcons, so they are my main faction and will be used in many builds. I have a large collection of 90's Castle, so I plan to incorporate them when I can. Thanks, Jakorin! I am glad to see that others like the forced perspective.

Thanks, SK! I love building landscapes and I really like my older minifigures. Thanks, Wat! I do understand. I like to incorporate detailed minifigs, but I am basing my faction on the older minifigures so they incorporate plainer Medieval style. I will definitely be incorporating more detailed minifigs in other builds, but the builds including the Falki Ridders will be incorporating older minifigure parts and plain armor. There is a possibility that I will make the update to pearl dark gray armor elements instead of the old dark gray, but I do not have immediate plans as such...

Nice work, Carson Haupt! The color choices in this build are excellent. The cart is nicely detailed, but I agree that more horses would be nice... I like the bley-barked tree with dark orange foliage. The many different figures around give it a nice urban feeling. Brick on, Carson!

Diaries of Beorthan II: Departure (HSS Military)
Slegengr replied to Bregir's topic in Guilds of Historica
Great work, Bregir! The walls and gate are nice and clean with excellent coloring. I like that water pump in the back. I do agree that more detailing/life on the backside would be good. -

Slegengr replied to Jorrith's topic in Guilds of Historica
This build is excellent, Jorrith! I repeat everything said above! The detailing is excellent across the entire build. I especially love the angles on the towers and the stonework in the bridge. Brick on, Jorrith!- 33 replies

Welcome to Eurobricks, Donatello! Pictures of your collection will be interesting.

I love the close-up detail shots. That technique for the pumpkins looks even better up close! Brick on, Sir Gareth!

These are some nice little builds, MKJ! I think the blue backgrounds work the best. For the forest, the green background works well, but for the bridge, I find the background blends with the green minifigure parts and looks a little bit odd where the river ends behind the bridge and merges with the green background. The snowscapes are well done, as is the water. I think the colors go well together using the dark bley rocks or trans-light-blue water as a contrast to the snow. The trees in the forest are interesting with the hinged trunks and modified log bricks. The bird is nicely done and makes for an excellent scene where he is carrying the minifigures. The little details on the bridge, such as the microfigures and the rails with the round tiles, make it visually appealing. I also like the water concept, though I think it looks a little too dark for a small stream or river and would be more fitting for a deep ocean. Nice builds MKJ, and keep Brickin'!

Thanks for the compliment and the tips, Garmadon! I do agree that the name and creator are not necessary. I will remove them from future posts. I did know that images can be resized. I limited my sizes to prevent long topics with multiple large pictures, since the pictures are links to my Flickr account that will show the images larger. I will use a slightly larger size in the future, as (I must admit) I limited my sizes mostly to avoid violating EB rules. Thanks, Jakorin! The tree proved to be much more difficult than I thought, but I am happy with the results and am glad you like it. Thanks, MKJoshA! I could post pics without the foliage, probably on Saturday. The method I used is very fragile, but I have some ideas for improvement. It is an incredibly simple concept, but it proved tedious to execute. I am glad my efforts on the tree payed off.
