  1. Disclaimer: I’ve not reached MOC builder status yet, not sure I ever will and I defiantly have to instructions. I apologize if this type post isn't allowed, I"m just trying to find out some information to better help the Technic community. I completely understand if this needs to be deleted. I've been debating posting this for a couple months and just decided to go for it. For the MOC builders, a couple questions. Do you source parts from Bricklink/Brick Owl and if so do you find yourself ordering from several stores or do you get lucky and only a couple stores? Or do you prefer to order from Lego directly? I ask because I have a Bricklink store and am considering focusing mostly in Technic parts. Technic is my favorite line and I can just look at Technic builds for hours. For those that don’t know part out value of Technic sets is extremely horrible. This is why a lot of Bricklink/Brick Owl stores don't part them out. So this would defiantly be for the love of the theme. My thought is I’m not a great or average builder but if I could supply builders with the largest selection and help to minimize the number of stores they had to order from. By helping save on shipping cost and fast delivery(faster than Lego.com), would be a small way to contribute to the community. Thanks.
  2. I'd love to see a Ford GT40 in Bugatti or Lambo size, and since we are wishing, I'd hope they'd do it in the Gulf Orange and Blue color combo. Also anything realistic space related would be cool.

5+ year Castle Build Finally Finished

Very nicely done. I'm considering starting a castle themed build myself.
  4. So i'm wanting to start my first mini fig scale build. I found the dimensions in real life and tried to convert to mini fig scale using the 1:42 estimate scale from Brick Architect and the conversion table calculator on Sariel's website. So based on those numbers here's what I cam up with. Does this seem about right? Real Height is 160 ft so this should be about 145 studs long or 121 bricks high Real Diameter is 30 ft so this should be about 27 studs long or 23 bricks high There's also a few interior measurements but this will be figured out after the main structure is figured out. Still not sure if this is bigger than I thought it would be but I like the size based on some quick bricks I played out. Thanks for your input, it's greatly appreciated. Hoping to only do this once and make a few bricklink order unlike my last project.

    Anyone having YouTube problems?

I figure this is along shot by why not try anyway since I'm sure some people here spend time on youtube and have youtube channels. For starters when I click on my avatar in the right corner, the drop down that normally comes down with options like switch account, log out, etc, just stay blank forever. I can't add videos to my watch list. My kids use my login on there devices and well they like video sometimes and I go back an unlike them, only happens once in a while, but anyway, I can't unlike any video. When I'm in a live stream chat no one can see my comments. I was considering starting a youtube channel, but wondering if i should delete this account if I can even get access to my setting and start over. On a side note, I noticed you an create multiple channels under one account. I have another account and channel with several videos that get some views. I wonder if I should just create it there. Any way if any one has had some of these issues, if you could share your fixes or stuff that didn't work it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Using Bricklink for large Bulk Orders

It may just be me doing something wrong, but I would be careful on the auto buy option. I recently did that for a set I'm trying to build and long story short several of the top stores were VERY EXPENSIVE. I'm talking $1.50 for used 1x4 black brick. The cart total was almost triple the part out value of the set and they didn't even have all the4 pieces I needed. I've started finding the stores that have the quantities of the rarest pieces I need. And as long as their prices are good I'll load up with what I can, then move on to the next store. There's also a couple stores I know that use the 6 month average sales price (this is nice because I don't bother to check to compare their prices) and I'll load up with as much as I can from them and then go hunting for the rest of pieces I need. Hope this helps.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here

I've been searching by price, and try to stay close to average and in the US if possible. I've ran across a few that have larger numbers, but they are asking anywhere from $1-3 over 6 month average sold. I'm trying to stay around the 6 month average. When I've needed brick I usually look for a store with a few figs and then see if they have the brick I need to help save on shipping. My army is coming along, just a little slow. Might have to start spending little more.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here

Any suggestions for adding to my clone and storm trooper army? I've looked on bricklink and most people only have 1 or 2, at that rate I'll pay more in shipping than anything.

    SB00401 K-PROJECT (MOC K-2so UCS)

This is insane, very well done. I wouldn't even know where to begin to build something of this caliber. Again, well done.

TRAIN TECH Help, General Questions & Talk to the Staff

Now that I have a Lego space, I'd like to have a train set up of some sort. I'm curious what a small to average size set up might be. I can defiantly go the standard 4x8 sheet of plywood or even a 6x8 sized set up. An 8x8 is doable but not much room to move around the layout. I'm not looking to go crazy just enough to have the train move around some. I'm currently about half way finish brick linking the Maersk Train. And here's where I'll loose some of you I'm sure. I also love Star Wars, so I'm looking to do a Star Wars layout with a train similar to the one posted below. Thanks in advance. https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Train?file=Conveyex_SWSG.png
  14. Very cool. I'm curious, how long does the process of building something like this take?
  15. I'm looking to build a multi level base / fort about the size of a large gray base plate. Not sure of exact shape, but it won't be a perfect square or rectangle, maybe a L shape. From what I've seen from other mocs it appears the 1x is most popular wall option, (makes sense, takes up less space and cheaper). I was curious if one size is preferred over the other. I was thinking of using mostly 1x4 and 1x6 for cost and availability / versatility reasons( just guessing on the cost part). Finding some of the more unique parts could be a challenge so I figured I'd just stock up and the common parts from places I find the unique parts in hopes of minimizing orders. So if you have any wall building suggestions or suggestions on ways to save when ordering it would be greatly appreciated. On a side note I hope to start a build thread here soon to show the process.
  16. Thanks for all the suggestions, it's greatly appreciated. As for theme, I'm thinking something in the classic space area, using mostly blue and light blueish grey, with some yellow and trans-yellow tossed in( had no idea how pricey the plates could be). I'm also considering adding several 1x1 modified bricks to assist in adding detail. On a side note, my daughter has taken over the project so to speak, she wants everything to be playable, and so for now, I'll be changing things to make it more playable for her. She's allow introduced lots of Friends furniture, so it's possible this will be a classic space meets friends build. But I'm completely ok with that, seeing her play and playing with her is brings back rush of memories and in the end, isn't that what Lego is about. Making and remember memories. Hoping to post some pics soon. Thanks again.

    [MOC] Large Fire Engine

Very nicely done. Fire trucks have always been one of my favorite things to see created in Lego and you did a great job. Thanks for sharing.
  18. Short summary, I started a bricklink store to make some extra cash and I did, not a lot but some and looking back I doubt I broke even. I currently have about 40k pieces listed with about 60k more waiting to be parted out. Due to a car accident and excelling at my job I’m in a much better financial situation and don’t need the extra cash from the store. And I can actually have a monthly LEGO budget for new stuff. I’m contemplating closing the store in favor of becoming a builder. I know my girls are in favor because, well what kid wouldn’t want an extra 100k bricks in their collection. So here’s my questions. Since im mostly interested in Friends( I have 2 girls), Technic and Space related series( Classic, MTron, both Blacktron), do I pull parts and colors related to these and keep the rest in the store to sell eventually ? I realize this won’t leave much in the store but if I’m likely not to use it, I rather have it sit in the store and maybe someone will buy it eventually. Plus items will be gradually added back and if I sell a few times a year great. Last question, should I add back log to bricklink and have it in stock room status in case I sell some later it’s already added, vs adding parts back piece by piece later ? Am I crazy ?

What's your recent LEGO Star Wars Purchase?

I was lucky enough to score some walmart clearance. 4, 75167 Bounty Hunter Speed Bike Battle Packs for $6 2, 75177 First Order Heavy Scout Walkers for $10 1, 75178 Jakku Quadjumper for $10 and a damaged box Arrowhead ship from the Lego store and the last day of double VIP. I have a strong feeling my concentration is going to be shifting to primary Star Wars, it's time I stop fighting it and just let nature takes it course.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here

I've decided to start building a clone army, as part one of a long term project ( most likely related to the clone wars era). I know there is currently only one battle back with " clone troopers" but there are a couple with first order and imperial troopers. Would it be bad or make a big difference if I add those as well ? I know it's ultimately all up to me but I'm curious what some others might do. Thanks in advance.
  22. So I’m wanting to start a project. I’m thinking something along the lines of a navy battleship / aircraft carrier, or a classic space outpost. That being said a lot of mixed grey pieces are in my future. I’m wondering if buying sets with mostly grey colored pieces would be better than ording all from bricklink. My thought is by purchasing sets with mostly shades of grey pieces and selling off the minifigs and unwanted pieces on bricklink I can slowly help offset the expense. As far as project size is concerned I’m thinking something in the several feet range if a navy ship or something like Jangbricks layout just all classic space related. I’m fulling expecting this project to be never ending, but at least I’ll have a goal and direction moving forward. I figure this might help cut down the number of bricklink orders not to mention improve my building skills by forcing myself to concentrate on building with pieces I have on hand. So what do you think, is my thought process on the right track? Thanks in advance.
