Original Bionicle vs CCBS discussion
Frozen Assasin replied to MakutaOfWar's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Because I , personally, think it is much more fascinating to see Lego actually trying to build something and design specific parts for that something, instead of reusing the same parts over and over again. Sure, CCBS has its perks (Grevious is f*cking awesome) and it can make for good titans when in the hands of capable MOCist's...but still. Let's take both Chima waves, f.e. I have Cragger and Fangar, and though both are fine sets...it just doesn't produce an animal feel, y'know ? And more so when you realize that they are using the same parts for a Crocodile, a Saber-Toothed Tiger and a goddamned Eagle. No, seriously. Back in the days (and I'm not talking about 2002-2004) we had different shapes and molds for every single AF or "Cockpit" line if there was one released. The closest thing we had to a generalized system was the one used in Knights Kingdom (seen in Galidor, Exo-Force and Powerminers), but even then Galidor had a bunch of new parts (which were only compatible with Kings Kingdom) and Exo-Force...well, it was Exo-Force. It was damn near perfection. And it also utilized parts from every single Lego sub-production (expect Belville, Scala and Clicketts. Oh. And Duplo). without making them clash. Powerminers also introduced a bunch of new parts including the omnipresent brick with balljoint. And Bionicle was so different from KK that they were (technically speaking...a good MOCist can make everything compatible) incompatible.Ben 10 was also a fine series, which despite its short run, had a lot of potential. And was drastically different from the Stars sets, released the same year. Then we had the first wave of HF, which was again different from its direct predecessors. 5 years later we can say that it looks like that Lego has got a bit lazy with its brands, creating 1 (2/3) creative builds and applying them everywhere. (See - Mixel joints). And when you say it is expensive to have a lot of personal brands, with interesting builds and lots of new pieces every year, just look at MegaBlocks. In their heyday (which was about 4-6 years ago. I think the last vestige fell when they cancelled the Plasma Monsters). they made a lot of sets (my favorites still being Neo Shifters, with their awesome trailer and Dragons, which even made 2 movies), many of whom utilized new and original systems (dual-colored characters, mold able characters,ball-jointed minifigs, Sharks that were big enough to eat a minifig, AF made from fracking magnets, which is too awesome for words) and these weren't that expensive. It is possible, see. Hopefully that is reason enough why I, IMHO, want the CCBS system gone. I just don't want to end up with my Knights being built from the same parts as their Steeds and the Robots from a separate line. -

I, for myself, sincerely hope we will get rid of CCBS completely in 3-5 years. -
I'm just foul-mouthed. You should have seen me in real life. ;-) Also, it's nice to know that. :-) Oh. Didn't know you don't utilize it in this way. If that's true, then it's great. Awesome, even, 'cause it means a return to old.

Look, am I the only around here who a) Likes the 2016 wave more than 2015 (Since those guys look like f***king Bionicle and not a HF revamp) b) Thinks that the clashing aesthetic is one of the best things about Bionicle ? Also, like I said - they are m:+*,erf{}'king awesome. Gonna take Kopaka for sure, most likely Onua and Umarak as well.

Bionicle 2016 Story Discussion & Rumors
Frozen Assasin replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Found a interesting (but extremely and extremely crazy) theory on a Russian fan-forum, which seems to have come from 4chan - 2016 happens in a universe in which the Toa never existed (or have died). Umarak is a local hunter, while the creatures in the background are natives and the Shadow Traps are evolved Skull Spiders. Also, the island on the poster is Mata Nui, only in a mirror reflection. -
I think you just need an extra gear on the back (add one of those yellow-y thingies).

GO-GO POWER RANGERS !!! Ahem, where was I ? Oh, right. Am I the only one hoping they go with this construction for Umarak and (maybe) Kopaka ? 'Cause that would be fracking awesome.

I CAN FEEL DA POWAAAR...of flight, it seems. Also, no gold on Onua and most of the toa appear to have only one color. Maybe...(wishful thinking about one-colored toa).

Am I the only one thinking that this theme has a very "retro" vibe ? I think it would not be out of place on a Saturday morning, right next to Thundercats and He-Man. BTW - found some pics of Jestro. Looks like a cross between a zombie, a jester and the Joker.

I, for once, want sets that involve the regeneration of each Doctor (furthermore - several sets based on iconic scenes / episodes) 1 -> 2 (could be a smaller set, involving the 1st and 2nd Doctors, the Cybermen, some small base and Polly with Jackson.) The next set could be 2-> 3 and feature 2 or 3 Time-Lords and the 2nd/3rd Doctors. The third set would be set at U.N.I.T ( a middle-sized set) and have the 3rd,4th Doctors together with K'anpo Rimpoche, Sarah Jane and the Brigadier.Maybe even a model Tardis. The next one should be quite big, as it would have at least 7 figures - the 4th and 5th Doctors, the Master, the Watcher, Tegan, Nyssa, Adric and even maybe a Logopolian, as well as a diorama from Logopolis itself. The next one would have the crystal, the 5th and the 6th Doctors, a Tardis model and Peri, so that would be the smallest (or the second smallest set.) Then we have the 6th and the 7th Doctor, Rani, a Tetrap and Melanie Bush, with the setting being Rani's Lab. After that have the TV movie, with two or three gangsters, a model Tardis and a Chicago street. 7th and 8th Doctors. Next would be a set with 2 minifigures (maximum 3) and an extremely simple environment with the planet of the sisterhood of Khan and the 8th together with the War Incarnation. I would like this one to come in a set with the regen. from War to Nine, 'cause those two would make for extremely boring sets if alone. Then, one with 9th,10th,Rose and the Tardis. After that, it would be cool to have a rather big set - involving a winter street, a lamp, Rose, the Tardis, 10 and 11. And the last one (finally) would involve the 11, Amy, Clara, the Tardis and the 12th First Doctor - A set with the Daleks on Skaro, since this is the most familiar one to the audience. And of course, Totter Lane and the junkyard Second Doctor - Tomb of the Cybermen, the Ice Warriors, the Yeti's in the underground. Third Doctor - Something with the Silurians and the Sea-Devils, the Axonians, one based on the Daemons and of course a set with the Draconians. Futhermore - the Time Warrior. Also, a set base on Terror of the Autons. And of course the 3 Doctors. Fourth Doctor - Hell, almost every episode could be an set. But to pick out some - The Talons of Weng-Chiang, the Androids of Tara, Terror of the Zygons, the Seeds of Doom... Fifth Doctor - the Five Doctors, Earthshock, Snakedance, Mawdryn Undead and that's it. Sixth Doctor - Trial of a Time Lord (pick any episode), the Two Doctors. Seventh Doctor - the Curse of Fenric, Happiness Patrol, the Greatest show in the Galaxy, Survival. Eight Doctor - TV movie Ninth Doctor - Rose, Boom Town, Aliens in London, Dalek. Tenth - Blink, Silence in the Library, End of Time, Last of the Time Lords, Gridlock, New Earth,... Eleventh - Day of the Doctor, Name of the Doctor, A Town Called Mercy, A Good Man Goes to War, the Wedding of River Song, the Big Bang, Amy's Choice, Time of Angels, Cold Blood. Twelfth - ...Not enough stories (as of yet). Despite that, "Mummy on the Orient Express" would make a good set.

I wanna have G1 powers...G1 names, too please... -
Talking about the CCBS system...It doesn't fail, 'cause if it does then Lego shall close it all together.
-
Just looked at the art for the month of stone... Frack, why can't they properly fund one of their flagship series and give us animations that have a level of quality comparable to n this one...
-
Iron. As a throwback to G1. And BTW, if they are indeed summer sets, then this would be not the first time we've got a whole year leaked...
