A motorized UCS AT-AT won't be a good idea in my opinion, due to the high risk of crashing. No one wants to rebuild it once a month. Maybe it comes with a Hoth-style baseplate. Besides that I'm very curious, what could justify that price point. Maybe there is some innovative metal joints to stabilize it, but I doubt it. I expect a similar model to the brick vault version with lesser functions, that's all. I try to work on my expectation-management :D

I can only speculate at this point - but my thoughts are that static legs is pretty certain.

I am also pretty sure the size must be minifig-scale (or close), a-la cavegods version.

The question is rather; will it have an interior - and how many (if any) minifigs will it include. And will there be more than one build (rebel shield generator?)

Don’t get me wrong, the playsets are good sets. Assault on Hoth is actually one of my favourite sets of all time. But with both Hoth and Cloud City retiring earlier than expected, as well as the Death Star on the way out, I’m really surprised that LEGO would attempt another playset like this so soon.

I don’t imagine this set looking very appealing, probably just a box that folds out. Will not be surprised if it ends up being a bunch of pods on hinges like the smaller versions they’ve already made. I wouldn’t put it past LEGO to forego putting a roof on the building just so there’s enough pieces to include another landspeeder.  The figures will be good no doubt, it will be good to get more Biths and the like on the market, but if Ponda Baba is the only new mould that will be very disappointing. Do doubt we’ll be seeing Jawas or Tusken Raiders to pad out the figures. Hopefully the Ithorian and Dewback moulds return. LEGO would have to do something big, like include a Bantha or Owen and Beru to make me want to get it day one.

Very disappointed that the shuttle rumour didn’t pan out, especially since the source that said that usually gets their info right. That’s one of the best sets LEGO’s ever released and the aftermarket prices are insane.

It seems you are thinking that the set will only consist of the cantina. We have no concrete evidence regarding this, but with the rumored piece-count of 3200+, its way more likely that the set will include some other elements of Mos Eisley than just the cantina.

This was discussed some pages back.

Either way, I am very much looking forward to this set, and I absolutely love the other SW location-based UCS/MBS sets.

There's already been pages of speculation about that. Every character who appeared in the cantina scene has already been brought up, along with some who weren't and were just around Tatooine. At this point we just don't know until we see leaks or an official reveal.

We have discussed the minifigures, but not so much the build. At this point it is, ofcourse, just speculation, but given the 3200+ pieces is correct, then in my opinion the set must have other builds than just the cantina.

Some rumors also also point towards a «Mos Eisley» set, and not just a cantina set.

in my opinion its more likely That we will see a build containing parts of the streets of Mos Eisley, some allys, and some other buildings than the cantina Itself, maybe even a mini hangarbay/space-port. I personally would love the Ubrikkian trade tower to be part of the set.

At 3200+ pieces its even likely that we would see some mini spaceship builds, a-la MBS cloud city and UCS DS.

But the interpretations here are waaay off. With weird sets like the Quadjumper or this huge transport ship from the Solo movie - they try to get sooooomething out of the new movies, as well as the new market comming with it. It's horrible sets still. The twin-pod car or the Wookie-Catamaran were released only with their specific movies and never again - cause it probably was the same situation.

    These are no good arguments.

TLG have released many system-scale sets of ships that are way less «iconic», and that has way less screen-time than the TIE-bomber or the TIE-interceptor.

For example the 75221 Imperial landing craft - a ship from the OT with almost no screen-time, and in the same (high) price-range that a doable TIE-bomber could (and should) be made.

The comments from TLG employee in the interview regarding the TIE-Bomber is just utter nonsense. The Bomber is a very iconic craft, with lots of appearances in both the canon and the EU.

Sadly, at this point, I think our best chance for a TIE-bomber would be if it appears in some new film or series. I’ll cross my fingers for an appearance in Mandalorian season 2.

Tbh we all discussed it back when the rumours of the set (price, pieces etc) came out.

    There's no new information today.

The triangle-shaped shadow in the teaser video is a pretty clear indication that it will be the Imperial Star Destroyer.

I don't think we've had any solid proof like this before (just rumors).

I would call that "new information"

  6. I agree that it is most likely that the rumored Star Destroyer will come with a small selection of minifigs and a partial interior. This is consistent with TLG recent releases of similar types of sets, like the 2011 UCS Super Star Destroyer, the UCS Slave-1 and the UCS Falcon.

Regarding the leaked T-16 skyhopper pilot head: This looks like nice, and slightly better than the last skyhopper face. It looks like this will be yet another set with the old rebel helmet (since the visor is printed).

With the original appearing in both the Snowspeeder and juniors set, does anyone know if the 2018 Rebel pilot helmet has been abandoned?

Don't forget the old helmet also appeared in 75240 Major Vonreg’s TIE Fighter (as Buckets helmet). So that's 3  of the latest sets using the old helmet mould.

We cant rule out the new helmet will be coming back in future sets, but as of now it seems the old helmet is the current one in use.

If only Vonreg's interceptor was OT era and black :damn:

As much as we complain about star wars remakes the Tie Bomber and Interceptor are painfully ignored.

The black ace TIE looks like hot garbage for 10$ less than a fully priced and complete regular TIE; I blame the crappy source material.

Really not a fan of those miniature sized sets, really expensive and not that great looking; nice figs though. But hey, more $$$ to drop on that Tantive IV :)

Yeah, I agree - OT TIE bomber and interceptor are ridiculously overdue.

But Vonreg's TIE does look good. Almost like the Royal guard TIE interceptors from the EU (or is that canon now, I don't remember)

Leia looks absolutely superb. Strange that they waited so long before they introduced the skirt piece.

Everything is pointing towards a remake of the UCS Tantive IV. The listed D2C set in May has 1768 pieces, wich is about 500 more than the original Tantive IV had. And that increase fits well with today's set designs / piece count (with more smaller parts, internal technic pieces, etc.).

Could be a running change to the UCS Death Star? Like how they updated TFA Stormtroopers to TLJ designs in the battlepack.

    33 minutes ago, BacktoBricks said:

Yes I was wondering if they would do that as I presume that set is going to be around for a few years yet. CC will probably stay the same though as that will likely be retired within 2 years, although I suppose it could get a running change if Lego no longer wants to produce the old helmet. They still have old Sandtroopers in the Landing Craft though so likely only the DS will get updated in time I would think.

    Yes, that is another possibility.

But I really do not hope so. If TLG is going to be constantly "updating" existing sets (like the strange situation with the resistance bomber), that would be a total headache for us AFOLs...

  10. Zuckuss looks just perfect. Great job TLG!

I'm however very dissapointed with the new Imperial and Rebel Snowtroopers. It's so weird that Lego keeps changing colors... Now the rebels are back to tan legs and hats, and the imperials have tan hands... why?

BTW: There is a picture of a new Han in Stormtrooper disguise minifig - with the new helmet. Does that mean the last unnamed anniversary set is a Death Star detention block set? Or is it the minifig from a polybag or something?

I imagine that's what the $50 and $70 "hero" and "villain" ships from the April wave are.  They seem about the right size for a racer from Resistance, the hero and villain ships from all the existing movies have been covered pretty well, and Lego has a history of issuing a pair of mid-sized ships for Star Wars properties that seem popular enough for sets but too risky for a large wave - see The Force Unleashed, The Old Republic, etc.

I can think of a couple of villain ships from the existing movies that have NOT been coveren pretty well...

Hint: It starts with "TIE" and ends with "bomber" or "interceptor"...

    Oh well, I can hope can't I...

I already liked the first trailer, the second made me like it even more. Definitely looks better than Rebels. Stop the clip to have a better look at all those ships and speeder bikes and who is the red guy at 0:47? Someone at starwars-union.de suggested a "New Order Red Baron". Can't wait to see sets.

I haven't watched any of the new animated SW kid-shows. But that trailer looks very good.

And, I love the potential this gives us for new SW ships, aliens and locations in Lego-form.

  13. I've been out of the loop for a week, and the news of the winter wave is just great. I always liked microfighters, wich is a great way to get minifigures.

If the rumoured Slave-1 is true, then it may be likely that a mini Slave-1 is not included in the UCS Cloud City?

(IMO that would be better, since it would leave more peace for the actual city)

Oh, and I can't wait to hear what information is coming tomorrow!

  14. I would love it if TLG would make the characters from the ongoing Star Wars Comic Series "Doctor Aphra" in minifig form.

    That would include:

    Dr. Chelli Lona Aphra
0-0-0 aka. "Tripple-o" (basically an evil version of C-3PO, in black with red eyes)
BT-1 aka. "Bee Tee" (evil version of R2-D2)
Black Krrsantan (an evil Wookie bounty hunter)

I know it's highly unlikely with sets based of this comic series, but you newer know with Lego. We've had sets from "The Old republic", ships like the TIE-defender and the E-wing (jek-14's stealth starfighter), etc.

It's also possible we could get the charachters in polybags, or maybe a "look-a-like-charachter" from other Lego SW series like "The Yoda chronichles".

    But, yeah, still pretty unlikely.

Is that ugnaught a named one? I only remember seeing the ones with the white mustaches (and no brown hair).

I guess it’s supposed to be the Ugnaught on the left. I don’t know his name.

I dont think the face-printing on the leaked minifig is very accurate though...

If that information is true, it would mean the Cloud City set will have around 3.000-3.500 pcs.

Smaller than I expected but hey, roughly 5 times as big as the original ;-)

We all know that today’s sets use a lot more smaller bricks, and have more details than sets did 15 years ago. The price per brick has also gone up. My point is: The new CC will not be close to five times as big as the CC from 2003.
