Misprints and Other LEGO Production Oddities

Just been uploading some stuff to BL and have spent some time checking my eyes and the light etc wondering why i couldnt find this 4249 brick. I know sometimes BL refuses to show up right so i checked Peeron as my backup and even that couldn't help. I found the brick via BL using description search instead and was surprised to see it was 6249. I have 4 of these bricks. 3 correctly show the number as 6249, but typically the one i used to check number has 4249. Bit random hehe
  2. I couldn't help but think this was a case of "lets see which figures we still have the most of that we need to get rid of"

    UK Sales

Saw one of the deals sites pointing to lego's black friday deals. Went there and saw a few good items though realised it was on the US version, clicked to switch to UK and it looks like 2 pages of comparative tat. Keyrings etc that are cheaper in supermarkets despite the supposed sale. Disappointing again. I went onto Amazon before and couldn't find the black friday stuff. Googled Amazon black friday and got to a page telling me how the deals would work but no link to the deals themselves. That said, probably for the best as money is not exactly growing on trees and its a danger just seeing lego :D

I looked into building sets earlier this year, because even when the big sets were in shops, the RRP prices were just way above what i could afford. I tested with a few smaller sets by having maybe 3-4 on my to do list at once so i could get multiple parts from sellers rather than build through 1 and then start again and probably plcing another order with same seller. The only issue i foresaw with this way was that lego have a habit with some sets of using unique parts (moreso with newer sets) which means to build things exact, you need someone who has bought the original and is prepared to split it for sale. There are those who do just that, but as a result those parts cost silly money. As i've been building sets that i wanted for myself, this has not been an issue as i can use similar parts and where necessary make my own modifications. Thus i end up with something based on a set, but done to my own preference and also within my own budget. I have managed to get some sets exact to the original spec and they have come in well under what even the original RRP was and with the lego having become rather dull issuing marginally different versions of the same building each year, i'll probably stick with this method in future. This also means that i dont end up with a mish mash of scales and styles. I can add to my sets so that they all look like they are from the same era and none of them look absurdly oversized etc.

    My garage find

I've started BL orders for a specific set of parts and ended up 'browsing' myself into a larger basket. Sometimes its standard parts that are always useful, other times i just see a few bits that might be useful for future. The danger for me comes when i work through a wishlist for a project and part way through an order see some cool parts that send me off on another new idea, which then prompts a new order for the other parts to that one and so the cycle continues. A few weeks back i filled out an order i needed with extra parts only to find i already had most of them. Doh. Not on the same scale money-wise though, but still a face-palm moment.
  8. Just had someone pickup the Sun for me on the way home. I'm not upwardly mobile at present but had been told elsewhere that as usual, there would be a mailaway. Pretty gutted to be honest. In essence though it doesnt really sound like many people who are mobile are having a great deal of luck. Sounds like the promo is mostly inaccessible. Off to shred the Sun and scrub my hands, then a quick lie down. I feel nauseated just knowing i have been in possession of that paper ;)

Hi, i was looking at Harry Potter lego for a friend a few days ago and didnt see this. I realised why after seing at the top you have it listed in collectibles instead of toys/lego. If it goes unsold you might want to try it in there or maybe list it in both categories. Good luck with it though

Hi all, Not sure if this is standard, but the limo and helicopter set 3222 is in Tesco for £17.99 It said offer but didn't show an original price. I see they tend to go on feebay for £20+ even the used ones (then again alot goes on there for daft prices), so as Tesco have them in-store that's a big saving considering there's no postage as well. Was looking forward to this, i should have checked in advance really as many of their bigger sets are £10-20 more expensive than other stores and regardless they seem to be out of stock of most of them anyway.

Are those 25% deals in-store only? They've got 8 city sets listed online and none of them show reductions :(
