    LEGO LotR - general discussion

That's an interesting idea, I may check that out too! I'm still resentful over all the missing links in the Lord of the Rings line. Does anyone have any idea where I can get a custom molded Witchking helmet? Is there any reason why Bickforge or someone like that hasn't made one yet? It and Sauron's helmet seem like obvious choices. Do you think they are concerned about copyright claims? Also, have any of you seen any cool LOTR or Hobbit mocs lately?

Couldn't a set include both Gondor and Pelennor Fields elements since the fields are right outside of Minas Tirith? This seems like it would be the best of both worlds. In a set that combined small elements of both the majority of major needed figs would be possible: Witchking, Faramir, Eowyn, and Gondor Soldier. If I had to choose just one, I would have to vote for with a Pelennor Fields set that included the Witch King, Eowyn, and whatever else. Have you guys made your own versions of Eowyn and Faramir using existing lego parts? I would like to see what you guys have done.

    LEGO LotR - general discussion

Hey guys I got a brickforge order in the mail today for some of their custom pieces that go great with Lord of the Rings. Bricforges quality, especially on their viking helmets that are often used for Rohirrim, is superb. I am a quality nut when it comes to lego (I hate how the minifigure series legs are still slightly lower quality than regular minifigures from sets.) But these viking helmets are awesome. I wouldnt be able to tell the difference between the helmets and actual lego products if I didn't already know. I also bought two of these shields which go great with my Gondor soldiers. I'm sure brickforge had gondor in mind when they made these, the tree is obvious. Unfortunately they only come in gold, but they still look really well with the figures. I also bought these elven swords for my elves, and the obvious narsil recreation for my Aragorn. The swords are also really good quality, but the viking helmets I got just steal the show. They are awesome. I'm using one of them for Eowyn like a lot of people already have. Link to helmet image - https://www.brickfor...?type=W&id=2327 Link to Narsil - https://www.brickfor...?type=W&id=2189 Link to Gondor Shield - https://www.brickfor...?type=W&id=2394 Link to Elven sword - https://www.brickfor...?type=W&id=2381 Also, Does anyone know if any custom Witch King helmets are for sale anywhere?? The more and more I think about it the more I hate that Lego made a 'Twilight' Witch King with a new helmet mold for the Hobbit line. The twilight Witch King is so much lamer than an actual Witch King would have been. UGH Lego dropped the ball so hard. WHY?? It almost seems like they did it just to tease us haha, All I can hope for is a fun pack including Sauron and the Witch King from dimensions.

Fellow Lego LOTR fans, I went ahead and built Nuju Metru's Edoras in LDD. It is extremely close to the original and almost an exact match. I can upload it to this forum if that would be something you would be interested in. I asked NujuMetru and he said it was fine if I distribute the LDD file. I doubled the side section of the building from the original so that all the walls are closed off, giving the model a sense of completeness. I would guess that this is how the original build was intended to be but that Nuju cut it to conserve pieces for Lego Ideas. I did not build the seperate hut, because I'm mainly concerned with the Edoras hall itself. All together the build is 665 pieces, which is very doable for AFOLS and other Lego LOTR fans.

Thanks for the link that is super helpful! I'm gonna see how much of it I can build too! Has anyone heard of seen any of Nujumetru's instructions?? I love his Edoras build, and it is seemingly really duable if you have other middle earth sets with tan pieces like Battle of Five Armies and Barrel Escape. For some reason I couldn't get the image to import of Nujumetru's Edoras but I'm sure you are all familiar with it?

This is a brickshow video for the new nexoknights line, the last villain on the right has a large body piece that I can't help but think looks like a balrog body. (if not for an official set, it could definitely be used for moc purposes). The character itself also has a balrogish mixel look to it. Also, did anyone else see when brickshow posted the list of the next wave of dimensions set numbers and initials? It has been a few weeks now. I can't find the video anymore so I think they took it down. But Jason had speculated that a title just initialed S could be a Sauron pack. Anyways, just a few things I've noticed.

Are you in the U.S.? I just checked again. Looks like it is back up to restock August 6th like you said. I don't know why it was gone earlier and said Sold Out. Either way, it's definitely getting close to the last chance!

Just an FYI, today I saw on the LEGO shop that Lord of the Rings has been removed from the shop options and Orthanc is listed as Sold Out with no buy option. Doesn't look like it will be coming back into stock this time. This goes without being said, but to kick a dead horse, if you haven't picked up Orthanc yet and were planning to, you should as soon as possible. Check your local Lego store. That is where I got mine a few weeks ago. I'm glad I decided to pick one up before they went out.

Guys check out this news: Congratulations on 1,000 Supporters! Dec 05, 2014 Welcome to the 1k Club! At this milestone, we’ve done a preliminary check with licensing regarding your project and see no known conflicts or issues. You have been green lighted to keep growing supporters; we will do a more detailed check if you reach 10,000 supporters and qualify for the LEGO Review. Keep up the good work! This is from the Radagast House on Lego Ideas. I would assume that the license for LOTR and Hobbit are very related, if not the same license. That is good news because of this info! A representative has confirmed from this info that there is at least some life left (or accessible life) within the license for The Hobbit, and therefore, most likely The Lord of the Rings. They gave a hobbit set (this one) the green light not hardly over a month ago. So with that being said I think Lego is still considering possibilities within the LOTR and Hobbit Franchise. Let me know what you guys think of this info and whether or not it is a red herring or not. Thanks for all the info guys, I've been following since like page 80 lol.

    LEGO Hobbit 2014

I've just made an account but have been following these threads for over a month now. Is there anyway I can recieve the pictures from the back of the boxes of the other 2 sets? Eurobricks said I'll be on a restricted membership account for my first ten posts but i wasnt sure what that limitied me to. As far as all the new sets go. I agree with the general consensus. The 100 piece set is awesome and I'll probably buy a few of those. The others I am really up in the air about right now. Very let down overall though with so many duplicates and no generics. I think they will be redeemed if we get 2 solid polybags though! But I bet we will only get 1 if any, but I'm still hoping! May just have to pick up some more of the Mirkwood elves and make my army even bigger that way if we don't get any new dwarves or other elf variations. As far as orcs go I would have been satisfied even without the new hairpiece because I think it is really easy to just add other hair to orcs. Wish that mold could have been used to make something cooler than an orc hair. Thanks for all the info though guys! I've loved watching this forum along with the LOTR one!
