Mini Unimog 4x4
Boulderer replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Based on this, I fear I may have serious brain issues -
Currently showing at around 61.5k parts in Technic alone. As far as the System pieces go, I'd estimate 4 to 5 times as much again. I tend to keep sets discrete so, I guess I'm leaning more towards the collector than the free spirit of a master builder

Generic Contest Discussion
Boulderer replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I was thinking along the lines that the results only show when you have completed the poll, and you are unable to change your votes, once cast. I guess the difficulty would lie in discussion on the results, that may be open to abuse. Though this will always be a potential issue with any open voting system. -

The poll idea sounds like a good solution. I like the idea of live results, for those that have already voted. -
[MINI] Tilt Rotor Aircraft
Boulderer replied to Cumulonimbus's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi Cumulonimbus, Do you have a copy of the LDD file that you'd be willing to share? I'd really like to take a look at building your model. Doubt I have the correct colour pieces but, you never know -
Stood on an old set of wheels yesterday ... pain initially, followed by the involuntary roll and fall. Not so much physical injury as injured pride. All it was missing was the comedy Flintstones sound effects

Generic Contest Discussion
Boulderer replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Having seen the voting to date, I'd have to agree that the flexible allocation of votes may not be the best solution. As others have said, a structured scoring system may work better. Lets face it though, a lot of these scoring methods are frequently up for debate amongst the elite sports, so there is always going to be an element of subjectivity to any decision As to the people who can't decide ... this isn't exactly "Sophie's Choice" ... grow a pair! -

Bit of a shame I don't qualify to cast votes. I hope everyone doesn't struggle too much with deciding where to place their 20 points -
The main hobbies in my life are rock climbing, cycling (road and mtb), reading, music and of course Lego. I also get captivated by the odd DVD box set, once in a while.

Do Bricklink have a category for competition votes? -
I think this could be the worst so far. I definitely got a chill when I read it

Amazing Trucks seen at Brickworld
Boulderer replied to Rishab N's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Great modelling to get the shapes. They look amazing. Rather a lot of STAMPing going on though. The Redbull truck has almost lost it's Lego character because of the stickers. Shame. -
LEGO 10242 Mini Cooper MK VII (unofficial)
Boulderer replied to lyonfish's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I'm not convinced that the comparison image above is actually a MkVII. Can anyone confirm? -
Thanks for clarifying that Faefrost. I've never used tea for colouring plastics before but, thought it was worth suggesting.

Ah! The days of using Lego as a projectile. I recall a number of rubber band guns made from Lego ... the creak of stressed Lego as the power was upped with just one too many rubber bands. Then the search for all the pieces after the inevitable implosion

I really like the dual function of the "first button", very clever. -
[MINI] Specialized Mountain Bike
Boulderer replied to Mehley's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I thought I recognized the design, when I saw the picture. I built one of these last year from a YouTube video (which I now assume must have been one of yours), that I came across by accident. I loved the build so much, I only broke the model down (reluctantly) a month or so ago. Great work- 28 replies

[MINI] Technic Mini Build Contest - Information Topic
Boulderer replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I've already made a mental note to use similar constraints on myself in future, to help hone my building skills. I can only aspire to the levels of creativity exhibited by the entrants of this contest. -

What would be really great would be to see all the entries built, side by side. Perhaps not a practical expectation but, it's a nice thought. -
