    Porsche 917 (mod)

Ha1 I forgot about the suitcase, time to find a space to hide that too side note I am considering switching to an 8 wide for this car(real is 78" wide), based on it's current length 8 is actually still a touch narrow (the fenders though would correct the tiny difference) of course though If I do switch it to 8 wide then it wont fit well with the rest of my SC cars oh and the rear tires would need to be much wider than is availableEDIT: this was my 666th post

So I've gone over this car again and quite completely too. I've now changed so much that there is probably only 30% of the original design left of it. from a glance though it is still quite similar. the obvious changes from V1 are to the nose area, its sleeker now, but uses a hinge to achieve the right angle, leaving a small gap just before the canopy. this will also let me use the stickers as they were intended again. also there are now brick built headlights and the fenders have been pushed back for a smoother shape as well. then feeling like taking it a step further i stripped out the rear of the car leaving a nice spare tire cavity. unlike the real car i was able to fit a full size spare, re-shape the frame to more closely represent the tube frame on the real car and added smaller exhaust closer to the real location for this particular car. (exhaust moved around a bit in later years) also you may notice i didnt change the step down rear of the canopy, i chose to keep it due to the shaping of the reference car, which has a similarly steep drop rear of the canopy. *stickers will be added once i am completely satisfied with the shape.* Let me know what you all think of V2, and thanks for looking!

    Upside down building?

the simplest way to invert is with a 2x2 plat with bar, and a 2x2 (or 1x1) plate with clips and flip which ever side needs inverting. can also do this with the small mixel ball joints. these methods aren't as smooth as the old hinge parts you mentioned. but they are effective and parts are readily available. a third option is to build a SNOT structure out of sight and invert that way.

thanks for all the comments so far! I will be looking into changing the front end, brick built headlights are always preferred. as for stickers those will be coming in time too just need to finalize the design before adding those. I feel it's pretty close now. @ToniMontana thanks for the images it does provide a few new ideas

rims are from Both the Audi R8 V10, and the Audi E Tron, also the McLaren P1 sets. I've turned them around backwards to make a more oldschool mag style rim here. the tires are from the city rally car and endurance racer using the same thing EROL uses and my viper used.

    F1 cars

Nice F1 cars! personally i don't feel like stickers are really needed, the shape of the cars do a well enough job with identifying the cars they are meant to be. though i will concede that racing cars may benefit from stickers due to the lack of sponsors being an odd sight. that said i look forward to your next cars!

Have you "come out" as an AFOL?

There was a time when I was given the "when are you going to grow up" every time I brought home more lego sets. after a few bouts like this with my parents I replied "I don't drink, don't do drugs, don't get into fights.... I work every day, I pay my own bills, and I'm going to school (college) how much more grown up do you want me to be?" since then no one has had an issue with it, and both my parents support the hobby (gifts are usually gift cards to lego or another toystore) married now and Lego is just a part of our day to day

2016 Speed Champions Sets - Rumours and Discussion

growth in price could be justified if not for the fact Lego still lists last years cars on their site as well. the real answer is that the Toys-R-US "tax" is still there and they haven't started clearance them. I'm sure those familiar with TRU know that sets start at RRP and then go up some time later (2-3 months is usually when I notice the climb)

Lego Prices vs. that of Crude Oil

Lego is not produced in the US.. so US prices on crude are a poor point to compare to. what we would need to know to have any indication on prices is where Lego sources its plastic from for each production facility. and then look to see where those are from and what crude prices are like for those countries. keep in mind though that raw material costs are usually a small % of overall cost of a product.

HELP on LEGO physics & looks for a MOC

Might have a bit of resting camber on it, but give it a shove and it'll roll just fine. the only possible issue would be the tile staying on the (I assume) SNOT surface, there could be some decent torque pushing on that tile so during play the wheel may pop off but will be fine for display.
