    Heroica RPG Rules & FAQ

What quest were they from? Off hand, I'd guess they fulfill the same role as Torches - namely, light a certain number of squares ahead, on quests that do that sort of thing.

He shrugged. "No prior connections to the Watch is a good thing - less potential for corruption, unlike every other person who's likely to put themselves forward. What's to know? They protect the city, and they walk around on guard duty. And besides, I'm sure Arthur could help you through the rough bits - I imagine he's going to be the next Veteran Mage, or I'd be suggesting him. Throlar, I know you have a big heart - but you can't save the entire world. Eubric needs people to fix it, else how can we help the whole world together? It's your choice - but in the bigger picture, I think you could do a great deal of good as Leader of the Watch - and when you consider the broader implications of having a safe Eubric, you might be doing a lot more good than you ever could as a hero. Still, it's your choice."

"Well, he was about to hand off the Badge to the Detective...it seemed appropriate." Lind waited to see what the Dwarf had to say. If he wanted to join the Watch, Lind would happily support him - if not, he would still be nominating him for Veteran Knight. OoC: Wow - three people also typing as I write this. I think that's the busiest I've ever seen Eurobricks - maybe even during Mafia! He shifted to his Skull Shield. "Get that Decamodifier on the ready, Karie, 'cause I sure am. Just don't shrink it until I've had a chance to lighten its pockets." OoC: I'm going to hold off on drinking anything until we're actually into the final battle, unless WBD confirms that the badges aren't functional. Don't want to risk drinking all of these potions, only to waste them on a small mob fight!

"I don't plan on dying, but...you never know. Dying in battle with an archdemon, just as I've relieved her of all her other-worldly possessions? As Rogues go out, that's about as heroic as it gets." He sighed, and thought a moment. "...I'm not disappointed, Throlar...but frankly, I think you are the best choice for the new Watch Captain - which is why I was frowning. I would never have thought of you as a candidate for it, but when I saw you pick up that badge, I was happy. Finally, after all of the corruption, it would be led by a leader with strong morals, who never gives up on pursuing those morals, even when people disagree with him - but yet, someone who has a strong sense of law and order, who just as relentlessly tries to do the right thing, whether it benefits him or not. Honestly... I think you would make a fine leader of the Watch. And I think you're a better choice than most anyone else who may present themselves." He shrugged. "Your call...but you have my vote."

He shook his head. He'd never served with the Watch, but with their reputation, he doubted the replacement would be any better. Throlar, at least, was reliable. "Yes, that's why I said, if I never get the chance...This is a very dangerous battle, ahead, Throlar - not all of us may end up surviving."

Huh, thanks, missed that. Still wondering why the +2 isn't added to the Power Bonus section...seems like something that could be very easy to overlook during battle calculations...feels like it might be easier to just have it in the main stats directly.

The Black Knight retrieved his cards from the Magpie, slid off the Immortal Palms, and pulled on his Swift Boots. @Waterbrick Down Did the collapse of the Union and the Alliance mean that our Seals no longer work? Because mine isn't in my inventory, or showing in my stats? Lind handed over the 40 Gold while chuckling. "Haven't you ever heard that the customer is always right? Terrible service at this establishment - do you have a manager I could talk to?"

Having Bellanotte around would be helpful from a battle angle, but RP wise, probably better to send her home. Nice!...although I almost wish it was Heroica itself that was only 85% over, not the very last quest of the entire game.

The former Crescent Representative watched the knight lay claim to the Watch's command. He had been planning to nominate the Dwarf for Veteran Knight - but perhaps he would be better suited as leader of the watch, having both Patricia's drive for law and order, and Arthur's love of justice. He silently nodded, approvingly. Lind clapped. "Beautiful! Haven't seen an explosion with that much power since we fought Immortalis!" "Euflear...if I never get the chance again, I'd like you to know it was a honor serving with you. Best luck rebuilding the Fae. Bellanotte...please tell your family it was an honor to represent them. I only regret that I never was able to serve as a Dragoon." He looked at Atramor. "We might really want to divide up that loot now, before we plunge into the Hall... I'd like one of those Deadly Venoms, if possible. And maybe some Gold...but definitely one of the Venoms." "Wonderful!" Lind makes the swap. "Any chance I could buy one of your two Smelling Salts for 40 Gold - same mark-up?"

Things were drawing to a nasty head. The Munchkin carefully eased the Bifrost Blades out of their holders.

"I'm afraid that last request is impossible," the Black Knight said with a half-grin. "But I'd be happy to buy one - or, I could give you second pick of anything I pull off Rosier* - or some combination there-of." He reached into his pocket, and pulled out 50 Gold. "Seeing as how the Market's closed, I figure a bit above Market price is only fair." *OoC: I. e., Germ gets second pick of any loot Lind nabs off of Rosier(Assuming that that doesn't wreck the fun for anyone else.). I originally was offering 80, but Lind wouldn't know that the prices got hiked up so high, since he was down in the sewers the whole time. Please feel free to barter up, but I can't go past 100 - if I get KO'd early on, without looting anything, anything over 100 isn't worth it. Lind quickly caught the gist of what Germ was trying to accomplish. @Flare "Hey, Benji - as a Prophet, don't you have Glossolalia? Could you talk to this Wyvern for us, and find out what it's plans are? We might like to take a quick ride, if it's amenable to the idea..."

"We just fought our way into it, and there are ships coming to take it back. I think I speak for at least a few other people when I say, I'd really rather not have to come back and capture it again." Lind heard the tone in Karie's voice, and carefully stepped closer, guarding her back in case things went south.

"Well, that didn't work... Afraid I don't have any tonics, but there's a few of them in all of this loot we need to divvy up - and by the way, does anyone have a spare Nostrum?" OoC: Regarding the loot, my preferences would be (in order) Deadly Venom/Gold/Scales/Skull. If anyone has a Nostrum they don't mind parting with, could definitely work something out there instead. Kind of would like to try a Deadly Venom though...can add some of my own Gold to the pile if necessary to balance things out.

"If we send one off, and it doesn't work, then we blow it up. If we don't at least try and send one off, we're not putting enough effort into this...oh, give me a minute..." "Dear Bonapartes! The fort is safely in Hero hands! Please respond, the Z-Mail System is once more operational! There, that should do the trick, without starting any unprovoked incidents...Just so long as they don't hate Heroes...ah, well, at least it's honest." The Black Knight mused. Borrowing a piece of paper from Arthur unless Flipz would rather not, he jotted down a short note. "There...Anything anyone thinks I should change? We need to keep it short - those ships are bearing down on us. Hmm..." He thought a moment, and did some scribbling. "Anyone have any idea who's in charge of any of those ships? Need someone to direct this towards...and I've never been very familiar with the Bonapartes."

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

"Her sister..." "I love a good explosion as much as the next man - but we probably should at least send off a Z-Mail before we do it. Otherwise, I fear we're leaping at confrontation when diplomacy might avail...like our recent battle."

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

"Because I am afraid what will follow may be worse - it may be rigidly harmful, not merely "worthless"." "That was...well argued, Arthur. Thank you. And thank you, Rone, for responding peacefully...it is not a response I am used to getting. I recognize my allegiance to the people, and it is above my allegiance to a "failed alliance" - but I also fear what may be to come. I wonder if it would not be easier to fix what was wrong with the Union, then to fix what may go wrong if the city falls into the hands of Ulric - or others like him. I'm afraid that if I don't do something, that if I just step back as "another one of the heroes" - that we'll remain divided. And that outside forces will take advantage of that division to further tear apart Eubric. That's why I've been trying to marshal together support for a return to the Union - trying to use what little claim I have to political legitimacy, to put together something, to avoid that chaos." He shrugged, and shook his head.

"Kick a wounded man one more time, Assassin, and we will have words. Entitled? The Jei Pei heir is gone, fled the city, Guts is no where to be found - I'm the third in line. Recovering any property stolen from members of the Union, former or no, falls on my shoulders - the harder, since you seem to have forgotten your past allegiances. Crescenteer." He said the last word harder, even if futilely, to remind the Heroican that they once belonged to the same organization, and once held the same duties. It was certainly futile - the Assassin clearly looked down on the Black Knight, who had come relatively late to the city - but he wanted to make it very clear that although he regretted past mistakes, he did not intend to apologize for trying to honor the trusts of those he had sworn himself to serve. OoC: Got it, thanks. I assume the Dragon House package isn't important, then? Just trying to RP, but if it's not, I don't want to cause a scene. "So it was in the hall all along... Is the seal simple enough that some of our own will be able to handle it?" Lind accepted the healing, gratefully.

Lind spat dirt out of his mouth. Despite being close to death, he seemed to be in his element, though his wounds and bruises were forcing him to be quite curt. "Golden Dragon...I don't suppose you've seen anything called a Nornalis, have you? We're missing one... And I hear you have a package from the Dragon House. As the closest thing we have to a Crescent representative, I'm afraid, unless you can provide some proof of ownership, we may to need to confiscate that and return it to its proper owners..." He rubbed his side and groaned. "...If I don't die walking across the yard to get it, that is..." OoC: Do I need to be revived? Or am I dead? I can't log on tomorrow, so I'm trying to post before the conversation's already ended.

OoC: I like the plan, but you need to prioritize Lucky Heroes only on The Golden Dragon. That Special would be devastating.

I did the math on this - no one in my plan, on the Wall, should have taken damage from Free Hits, their defense was too high*, and there weren't enough enemies to go down the list to the weaker heroes. The Wall is negligible, and one good roll from Benji - who my plan left on the wall - could easily clear it out again. *I hadn't run the numbers for taking damage from the Ground, but still.
