Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

OoC: Gladius does more damage...Unless I roll a SHIELD I don't know if I'll be able to take them both out with the Blades. (I'd do the math, but I'm busy with other things.)

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

OoC: Forgot you were transcended. Lind is Stunned, his SHIELD happened on his second attack, so he'll only be able to attack once this round.

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

Muttering something involving the word fabulous, the Weather Mage attempted to change the weather, and predict a Cold Forecast. with his Opal. OoC: Should I have looted two Venoms, then, or only one? "Petaldan, the Root's dead. Maybe use a Tonic on Throlar instead? He's getting low on ether." The Black Knight nodded as the demon struck at Nazgulie. "I'm going to attack Periwinkle with Gladius. Kiray, could you come after us, and attack whoever isn't dead? Alternatively, if you have a spare action, one more Tonic would put Throlar to nearly full - but given how much damage the center is doing, I don't know if he'll need it before the battle's over."

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

Lind grunted as the root bounced and hit him in the head. "Good work...nearly there, crew! Wise call on focusing on the Roots, Throlar - should have though of that myself!" He straightened up, and rubbed his head. "If anyone wants to drink anything, trade gear, now's the time. One more go-round, and we can clear this Flank, and move to the Center. Torald, you might want to drink a Grand Tonic, you're nearly tapped out. Or, you could drink some Mead. We're in good shape, folks - check over your gear, and make sure you're ready to head to the Center." His face haggard, the Black Knight slowly saluted the fading Founders. "Thank you...for everything."

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

EDIT: Never mind, I figured it out. "Fine - I'm probably a bit too eager to get at Rosy. Taking out the Roots would be a better focus. Kiray, Eric, Ezeran, Heckz - forgot my previous suggestions. Go with what Throlar said." Heckz attacks Skuld with his Weatherfax Broom and Amethyst, while Lind strikes Restoring Root J and Remedying Root D, then Remedying Root E, and Remedying Root F, both times with the Bifrost Blades.

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

"Keep it up crew, we're nearly there!" Lind surveyed the field. "Hmm..." He yelled across the cavern. "Alright...having everything be Dim changes everything slightly - but we'll be fine! Throlar, don't know what your plan is, but here's what I'm thinking: Kiray, could you attack Nazgulie again? Petaldan, could you lob another Fire Bomb? Eric, could you finish off the "Twisted Eight," while I take on Periwinkle? Heckz, keep attacking yourself. Germ, you're doing great work on those Roots. Keep in mind - your Obsidian Scimitar will do double damage this round. Unless Heckz rolls badly and changes the weather. Still, though, keeping on those Roots will help the Center. Torald - attacking Heckz is a good choice. Ezeran, could you see if you can finish off Skuld? Throlar - maybe repeat what you did last round?" OoC: The Roots can definitely be changed - I'm not sure which to focus on, to help the Center the most. I assume that people are either going to use a Neutralizer, or a Tiger Balm, though, when they start attacking Rosier herself, so I've focused us on the Reinvigorating Roots. Also - @Waterbrick Down Could you please change my Power to 2, from the Seal? Right Flank: >Kiray vs. Nazgulie (Hunter's Crossbow)>Kiray vs. Nazgulie (Hunter's Crossbow)Petaldan throws Fire Bomb at Reinvigorating Root E Eric vs. Twisted Eight (Godricsleif)Lind vs. Periwinkle (Gladius)Lind vs. Perwinkle (Gladius)>Heckz vs. Heckz (Darkness)>Germ vs. Reinvigorating Root F (Flying Talon)Torald vs. Heckz (Trident)>Ezeran vs. Skuld (Darkness)>Throlar heals most injured or throws Fire Bomb at Reflecting Root E

OoC: Huh...sorry, my bad. (I was about to say that Lind was lucky(which is what I originally thought you were doing, with the two struck-out attacks)...but looking back, it looks like that doesn't stack either.)
  8. Lind Whisperer

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

OoC: This is missing two attacks. Lind is using Dual Strike weapons and he's Hastened. Checking the battle order, Lind should have attacked Heckz twice after this.

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

OoC: He hasn't rolled for the Left Flank yet, but in this round, Arthur will be targeting both the Light and the Fire Reflecting Roots. I'm assuming he's assuming Arthur is successful?

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

OoC: You did. @Waterbrick Down I could be wrong, but I've been doing the math, and I think Lind should have done more than 41 damage to Jinnipher. WP 14(Bifrost Blades) x 4 = 56 56 + Level 26 = 82 Damage. But Lind's also wearing his Vorpalis Netherwings: Vorpalis Netherwings (SP: 4, the wearer deals double damage to humanoid type enemies and takes half damage from Holy/Light enemies. Backwear, suitable for anyone.) The only thing is, I know the Blades have a Diamond embedded in them, so I was not sure if that would have any effect(since I know that Darkness/Amethyst attacks do x2 damage). But I believe the x2 to Humanoids from the wings isn't Elemental, I think it's more like how Hunters can Favor a target. Checking the Wiki, though, the Humanoid type isn't even mentioned in the Light entry: Checking the Humanoid type entry: So there shouldn't be any nullification from the Diamond. So...adding an extra x2 onto the attack...I'm wondering if Lind should actually have done 164 damage to Jinnipher? I could be doing it out of order(I forget the Sandy-approved approach) - but I really think Lind should have done more than 41 damage.

    [MOC] Twisted Time Train

TCs/TTs just aren't especially popular+Eurobricks posting has been slowing down in most boards. Unique interpretation! Nice work replicating the original features with more modern parts! Maybe see if you can find some other way of having the motors work, that's a little less obvious? Possibly get it to run on track like a real train? The scaffolding detracts from the presentation a tiny bit, I'm afraid to say - but still, nice work!

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

"Rough way of calculating battle odds?" OoC: He shrugged. "Did you forget about Nazgulie? With her still standing, and no one targeting her, going by your plan will have Kiray absorbing a Free Hit from her, while Eric will be taking a Free Hit from Periwinkle."
  13. Lind Whisperer

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

The Black Knight nodded. "Looks good! Only criticism is that Eric doesn't have any defense, so he's going to take 15 damage from Periwinkle, and with what's going on in the Center, we're all going to need all the health we can get - but his health is 104, so he should be able to take it." Lind strikes Jinnipher twice with the Bifrost Blades, Front Row, and Heckz uses his Amethyst on Heckz with his Weatherfax Broom from the Back Row. OoC: Free Item Actions are limited to the first round of battle. Also, since Rosier's Quickened 10, even if everyone's attacks succeed, everyone standing in the Center party is going to be KO'd through Free Hits alone.

"Actually, have The Walking Mountain use his Salts on you! Then you'll have a spare action to work with!"

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

"Good work, cr-" The Black Knight's praise was interrupted as he saw the Center Party collapse. "No...!" This battle is off to one heck of a bad start... "HOKE!" The knight's voice echoed across the field. "Take a Smelling Salts, and then use your Phoenix Essence! Then that person needs to drop a Phoenix Incense! Someone needs to Remedy the Walking Mountain, or he's going down also!"

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

@Waterbrick Down OoC: Technically, Torald used a Venom, not a Mead...so Waldorf should still be alive. But if @Alfadas doesn't mind, I really think that the Mead would be more useful than the Venom. Also, Skuld should probably be Poisoned? Don't know if the fact that he was using it for a spell matters or not...Either way, Lind definitely dealt Poison 10 to Jinnipher. (Also, I don't think I should have a Smelling Salts still, since I consumed the one I bought from Germ?) Lind steals 50% more Gold, so he should have stolen 30, not 20.

OoC: You can use consumables on allies, but back in April you said that the Crescent Seal Free Item could only be used on the bearer. Can the item be used on anyone in the party? Or just the seal-bearer? Is that 1/2 chance per Hero, or 1/2 chance to cause everyone to fall Fast Asleep? Will anything happen to Luxidios when the Founders have faded? @CMP Torald's Free Action is him applying a Venom to the Trident, not drinking a Mead.

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

@Waterbrick Down OoC: I was checking Rosier's stats, and this is confusing me: Retrievable Weapons always require a turn being spent to retrieve them...? Is there some sort of additional modifier on top of that?

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

"Let's go!" OoC: In the absence of an attack from either @Zepher or @Khorne, I'm listing Eric as attacking the Twisted "Eight Ball". Nazgulie and Periwinkle's Specials aren't bad, but they would slow us down, so I'd rather only Lucky heroes attack them. Right Flank Battle Order: >Throlar - Gives Kiray Shield of Invisibility >Kiray - Accepts Shield of Invisibility >Kiray attacks Diana with the Mythril Hunter's Crossbow, Back Row >Lind drinks Nostrum - Free Item Use >Lind attacks Jinnipher from the Front Row with the Bifrost Blades, Front Row >Lind attacks Jinnipher from the Front Row with the Bifrost Blades, Front Row >Lind attacks Jinnipher from the Front Row with the Bifrost Blades, Front Row >Lind attacks Jinnipher from the Front Row with the Bifrost Blades, Front Row >Heckz attacks Heckz, Amethyst/Weatherfax Broom, Back Row >Petaldan attacks Twisted "Eight Ball" with Slimy Sword, Front Row >Eric attacks Twisted "Eight Ball" with Godricsleif, Front Row >Ezeran applies Venom to Ooze Wand - Free Item Use >Ezeran attacks Skuld, Amethyst/Ooze Wand, Back Row >Torald drinks Mead - Free Item Use >Torald attacks Waldorf, Ruby/Torangu's Trident, Back Row >Germ uses Fire Bomb on Reflecting Root H - Free Item Use >Germ attacks Reflecting Root H with Flying Talon "of the Salamander", Back Row Free Hits: >Nazgulie hits Throlar - 62-40 = 22 Defense Remaining, No Damage >Periwinkle hits Kiray - Kiray carrying Shield of Invisibility, No Damage Conditionals: Lind - If Jinnipher is killed, Lind switches to Diana, same weapon. Germ - If Reflecting Root H is dead when he attacks, he switches to Reflecting Root G, same weapon. Everyone - If someone's target is somehow killed before they strike, no one attacks Nazgulie or Periwinkle. Instead, they attack the next target down the line. OoC: Any reason why Lind's attacking near the end? Other than that, looks good. (Personally, I prefer having the higher level heroes going mostly first, but given the current circumstances, I suppose there really isn't any real reason to do so.) Also, if you could add the conditionals, that would be helpful - don't want the wrong specials getting triggered. I'm in the middle about this, since you can't target friends with consumables, but I'm not going to go against any QM ruling that makes the battle easier. Though, if WBD wants to change it, I'm fine with that as well. Heartily seconded! (And sorry I didn't say so sooner!)

OoC: I thought you did, but looking back and checking your stats, I must have seen Reinforced out of the corner of my eye, and somehow mistook it for Hastened. Thanks!

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

OoC: Will do! @Waterbrick Down Can a character's Free Item action include throwing bombs? @Right Flank Here's the list as it currently stands: >Throlar - Gives Kiray Shield of Invisibility >Throlar - ? >Kiray - Accepts Shield of Invisibility >Kiray attacks Diana with the Mythril Hunter's Crossbow >Lind drinks Nostrum - Free Item Use >Lind attacks Jinnipher from the Front Row with the Bifrost Blades >Lind attacks Jinnipher from the Front Row with the Bifrost Blades >Lind attacks Jinnipher from the Front Row with the Bifrost Blades >Lind attacks Jinnipher from the Front Row with the Bifrost Blades >Heckz attacks Heckz, Amethyst/Weatherfax Broom >Petaldan attacks Twisted "Eight Ball" with Slimy Sword, Front Row >Ezeran applies Venom to Ooze Wand - Free Item Use >Ezeran attacks Skuld, Diamond/Ooze Wand >Torald applies Venom to Torangu's Trident - Free Item Use >Torald attacks Waldorf, Ruby/Torangu's Trident >Germ uses Fire Bomb on Reflecting Root H - Free Item Use >Germ attacks Reflecting Root H with Flying Talon "of the Salamander", Back Row >Eric - ? @Lord Duvors I need a second action for Throlar, I don't think Althior is accepting the Scroll of Elemental Aura. @K-Nut? @MysticModulus You didn't specify who you were targeting, but you did mention both Skuld and Waldorf. Torald is attacking Waldorf, so I've set you up with Skuld, unless there are any objections. "We're in good shape, people! Eric - could you attack the Twisted "Eight Ball" alongside Petaldan, with Godricsleif? Throlar - if you could attack Periwinkle or Nazgulie, it would be helpful, though we can certainly survive the two Free Hits if you'd rather do something else. Ezeran - could you change to your Amethyst? I was expecting that you could take out the Aspects with your Ruby, but that doesn't seem to be possible - your Amethyst will do much better."

OoC: You're right, just checked the Battle Notes: @Waterbrick Down Am I correct in assuming that a SPECIAL is the same thing as a SHIELD roll?
  23. Lind Whisperer

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

"Alright, crew, let's start picking out targets!" The Black Knight began to size up the foes on the Right Flank. "Torald - I'd focus on Skuld or Waldorf, with your Ruby. Not sure how this Weather is going to affect it, but under normal circumstances, you could take out all of the Roots with a single Circle of Might and Magic. Ezeran, the same. If the two of you can wipe out all of these Roots together, that would greatly help the Center. Heckz, see if you can use that Amethyst and your Weatherfax Broom to amplify Atramor's archdemon. Try targeting yourself, or Nazgulie. Eric, possibly Godricsleif against the Eight Ball? The Topaz will help you do damage even despite the bad weather. Throlar, I can't make any solid plans until you and Kiray figure out what you're going to do, but possibly try attacking Periwinkle or Nazgulie, or Diana. Their Specials aren't bad, but they could slow us down - better to put Lucky heroes on them. Kiray, the same as Throlar." OoC: Waiting on responses before I suggest anything for Germ/Petaldan.
  24. Lind Whisperer

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

OoC: Good catch on Torald. If the Archdemon's going to make the Darkness dim, that's definitely going to change what Lind is going to suggest Heckz does... @Waterbrick Down Who is controlling Heckz? If no one is, can I take him over until @Cutcobra returns? @Zepher Could you post an action for Eric? If not, could I borrow him until we join the Center? Ezeran was changing out his Etherium Pauldrons for the Hood. Throlar's making a good point, but unless I'm badly misinterpreting elemental damage, I figure wasting a turn now, in preparation for when we join the Center later, could be worse. Still, though, on reflection, it might be better to keep things the way they are and focus on clearing our Flank.

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

Lind chuckled. "We'll see." The Black Knight patted the frightened Paladin on the back. "Don't worry, kid, they're only dreams. The real Skuld and Wally are safe, miles away." He got down on one knee. "Think of it this way. Your friends are safe - but if you don't fight those dreams, that demon is going to go after them and hurt them. By attacking those two figures, you're not fighting Skuld and Wally - you're protecting them." OoC: Just checked, and you can do all of that in a single turn - I was suggesting you change gear before the battle, but this'll work fine, too.
