Heroica RPG- Quest #103: Alfendi Lupine Strikes Again!
Lind Whisperer replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Indeed, what my esteemed fellow Heroican said - if your wine is so iconic, I question how easy it would be for him to re-sell it. Also, just how large is this cellar, and approximately how many bottles of this wine does it contain? If there is more than a case or so, then the difficulty of concealment increases exponentially. And is there any of it in barrels?" Lind kept on rubbing the dog's head, managing to find that favorite spot just under the ears.- 500 replies

Lind suddenly thought of something. "Also, might we see this calling-card he left, if you still have it?"- 500 replies

Heroica RPG- Quest #103: Alfendi Lupine Strikes Again!
Lind Whisperer replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
"You speak as if you had seen him in person. Have you, or did you just see a picture like this of him somewhere?" He reaches down and rubs Butch on the head. "Nice doggie. Who's a good boy? You're a good boy, that's who, good boy*." Ooc:* Dog baby-talk sounds rather...strange when typed out.- 500 replies

Heroica RPG- Quest #103: Alfendi Lupine Strikes Again!
Lind Whisperer replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
While waiting for Sally Akrone to respond to Arthur's question, Lind looks around the area for any were-beasts working at the winery. He also inspects the dog for any signs of lycanthropy. Ooc: My new weapon is a Darker Ethereal Deck(Playing Cards) (WP:5, throwing weapon).- 500 replies

Lind stared at the deck with amazement. "Another Ethereal Deck...I wonder how it ended up here, of all places...Thank you, very much..." He looked over the cards. "These tell, at least a part of the story, as to how they ended up here. Spring of the Emotion of Evil, Emotion of Day, Arcane Strategata of the Oiled Pool, Coat of the Day Stalker, The Light Woman - no peaceful Hero would have carried these with him or her." Lind hurries after Arthur. Ooc: Lind's Personal Deck: Spring of the Emotion of Good - Equivalent to the Black Ace of Spades - Shows that the Hero believes in Good over Evil. Spring of the Emotion of Night - Equivalent to the Black Ace of Clubs - Shows that the Hero feels at one with night. Lady of the Lake of Fortune - Equivalent to the Black Eight of Spades - Shows that the Hero enjoys challenging the odds. Coat of the Night Tiger - Equivalent to the Black Ace of Clubs* - Shows that the Hero tries to use the landscape to their ability. The Red Woman - Equivalent to the Red Queen of Hearts - Shows a restless, unchained spirit, the future movements of whose can only be known by the individual themselves. Lind's New Deck: Spring of the Emotion of Evil - Equivalent to the Red Ace of Hearts - Shows that the Hero believes in Evil over Good. Spring of the Emotion of Day - Equivalent to the Red Ace of Diamonds - Shows that the Hero feels at one with day. Arcane Strategata of the Oiled Pool - Equivalent to the Red Eight of Diamonds - Shows that the Hero enjoys strategy, generally by underhanded means. Coat of the Day Stalker - Equivalent to the Black Ace of Clubs - Shows that the Hero tries to use the landscape to their ability. The Light Woman - Equivalent to the Red Queen of Diamonds - Shows a spirit that is sluggish, and tries to set up his own structure of leadership around him. *"Yes, I know he's carrying the same equivalent card twice...Still working that one out..."

Heroica RPG- Quest #103: Alfendi Lupine Strikes Again!
Lind Whisperer replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
Lind accepts the Medal thankfully. "Thank you for your kindness. It will help me greatly." Lind reaches into the folds of his cloak, and pulls out his Newspaper. "Lacking in the funds to better gear myself, I did what I was able to do, which was research. Research, which yielded this picture of Lupine." Lind shows the picture to everyone.- 500 replies

Lind held up his Ethereal Deck. "These. The calling cards of my people." He looked at them, slightly regretfully. "I was window-shopping, to see if anyone had a Deck for sale, as a Secondary Weapon, but when all the merchants saw my raiment, they correctly assumed that I was a broke rookie, and didn't feel obligated to bring out their more...unique wares." (Partially)Ooc: Ethereal Cards are white(except for White Cards, which are black with white printing), with on the face side, a single border line of their color, and in the middle a small, also mono-color, image of the card's subject. (I'm still figuring out the back printing...)
-
Lind gratefully sat down, and nodded his head. "Yes, I am - and I suppose then, from your comment, that you would be the hailed Arthur Justus Regulus VII listed also as taking part?"
-
After an hour of strolling through the marketplace's wares, Lind sighed, and stretched his shoulders. So much gear, such high prices. Not to mention the small chances of finding a second Ethereal Deck to complement his current one. Perhaps, when he had finished his first quest, he could begin to outfit himself with a proper gear array. He noticed a Skirmisher sitting comfortably next to one of the buildings. He stepped over to where they were seated, and asked, "Excuse me, but would you mind if I sat down here as well?"
-
"Fascinating." Lind looked at the sundial* on the nearby window-sill, and noticed the shadow beginning to edge toward the time stated by Mrs...or was it Miss, Akrone. "My extreme apologies, but I just realized I must be going - truly fascinating meeting you, though." He adjusted the position of his hood, and quietly stepped out into the street. He began to make his way to the Marketplace. Ooc: *I wasn't sure if clocks had been fully invented yet in Heroica, and home sundials were generally carved into a window-sill...
-
"And few of us can do more than that." Ooc: Probably my bad - I should have remembered that in Heroica, if they're not human, "Strange Creature" applies to literally everyone.
-
The lone Rogue turned to the Imp. "Choice. A hard question. What does it mean for one choose? And by choosing that, do they always have to follow that choice? I do choose, though...I choose to walk among the other denizens of our world, and try to do what few good deeds I can, when I can. What is it that you choose to be?" Ooc: Btw, my earlier post was directed at Endgame's demon.
-
The lone Rogue, lost in his thoughts*, failed to notice the strange creature for a few minutes. He got up, and stepped towards where it was in conversation with several of the other patrons. "Excuse me for the interruption, but what exactly are you? In my studies, I have never come across anything specifically like yourself, although there were plenty of occasional nods and references towards beings similar in description to you." He then noticed the Shadeux guard's posting, and his lips turned, if only for a moment, into a pleased smile. Although he was, truly, not entirely as skilled as he might be for such an adventure, he had studied all available information, and thus, he felt ready to face whatever this Lupine could throw at him. He then looked back at the strange, tentacled eye. Ooc: *Or that he had to be afk for far too long... Ooc: Lets see...I bought a Potion and a Bedroll, and I interviewed both the librarian and the saloon-keeper. Not sure exactly what else I could finalize...I could try asking the other (NPC) patrons if they know anything about Lupendi, but I doubt that that would lead to much more information than what I already know.

Fabuland village - version PKH 2014
Lind Whisperer replied to Cecilie's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Well done! It has a very whimsical design to it, and the floating windmill and the rocket are excellent finishing touches. -
The lone Rogue sat patiently in his small booth, waiting for the news of the chosen questers. He understood that his chances of being chosen were not of the greatest that might be wished for, but he had done all that he could to prepare. He noticed a few other patrons, who seemed to be waiting for the news also. He specifically spied a skirmisher, a regulator, a ranger, and a strange, dark man, in the garb of an assassin, who was standing at the bar for a drink. He looked again at the newspaper, and at the strange, unscarred face of the were-beast. Who was this Alfendi? What drove him to do what he did? He tucked the paper somewhere into the folds of his cloak. Once, if he was fortunate enough, he was on the quest, he would of course show it to the rest of the party immediately, but until then, unless he was directly asked, he decided to keep it to himself, if only for the moment.

The whole building is very well done, but the colors you used on the ground floor in particular were an excellent choice!
-
^Agreed. Perfect picture choice - mood and lighting are perfect!
-
You're right, it does... "Makes an even bigger mental note to search every corner of the forums before asking questions."
-
I figured that it would be something like that... Ah, well, never hurts to ask. Now to figure out the optimal combination of gems for the most common* enemies...Or for the least common(never knowing when something unexpected might appear...)... *Based on actual appearances in quests, not just the Bestiary...
-
I know - one of my favorite things about reading through old quests is seeing all of the brilliant color combinations QMs have come up with. Question about weapons: I know that I have to pay a binding fee for each individual gem I bind to a weapon, but is there a limit to how many can be bound at one time? And if there isn't, do opposing gems cancel each other out(Like a Ruby(Fire Element) against an Aquamarine(Water Element))? Also, can Adimantium and Mythril be present at the same time on a weapon, and if so, do the stats stack? I'm really starting to have fun with the playing cards idea, and was dreaming about having an Mythrilized, Adimantium-tipped, gem-encrusted Ethereal Deck...

So, so sorry to bump this, but I was surfing through your builds after the one you posted earlier, and this was just too original to not leave a comment on! I love the way that you built everything - extremely whimsical, but it has a consistent theme throughout, and the decorations are beautifully paced! I don't suppose you ever plan to release an LDD file of this, anytime?
-
You're right...Next time I'll make sure to read the quest listing so that I'm not identifying the wrong person... On a more happier note, I wonder if anyone has used the Castle Wizard's torso for any NPCs or PCs yet - quite fancy.
-
Hél's legs are part 3678bpb015*, from either the Medieval Market Village or Day 16 of the 2010 Castle Advent Calender. *There are only a few decorated black dress pieces, and 3678bpbb015 is the only one with the square-angled bits of white trim at the top.
-
Ooc - One thing I thought of - can I assume that Lind slipped the newspaper into his inventory, so that he's carrying a picture of what Alfendi looks like, which he can show to people?
-
If you wanted to play a really non-human character, you could try playing a Zarkonian* (classic LEGO alien race from the first Captain Indigo comic.) I'd link to an image, but Huw hasn't updated the new Brickset with the Bricks n' Pieces archive - it's basically built as a normal minifig, with a light grey 3026b for a neck, and a light grey 3839a centered on top of that for a head. Can't get too much more non-human than that. *I think it's Zarkonian. It might be Zarkanian...
