Nice. You really hit the right Modern-Neo Classic Space color scheme, which is fairly hard to do, and generally ends up in one color more or less having dominance. I've been getting into CS myself, starting with my Solar Explorer recolor. You mentioned it's a remake - any links to the original?

Yes, but even with SoNE, the idea is based around building MOCs, not a Heroica-esque battle system. What I'm proposing is something very like Heroica, but set in Space. Building MOCs would happen, but it wouldn't be a requirement, more of a scheduled event that you could enter, and the winning MOCs are officially entered into the game's lore.

Has anyone ever posed the idea of starting a Heroica style RPG, only set in space? I was reading through Bob de Quatre's diligent work on a GoH style Sci-Fi sub-forum, and I was thinking over the problems and solutions to an Sci-Fi RPG. The most likely first problem would be that, "There's not enough people who'd play it," but if you're just starting out and getting the rules perfected, only a handful of players is not at all a bad thing. To the second, "How would you structure it?", I was thinking almost the exact same formula as Heroica would work quite nicely - Players sign up, they receive missions, they fly to various worlds(facades built by the GMs), and fight/solve their way to the end. There is also a significant focus on MOCing, in my idea for this, as I'm seeing it. People could compete in regular contests to have their ship(s)/planet/etc. voted the best, and if they win, the MOC is used as an official ship/planet/etc*. Constructive criticism and thoughts are welcomed. *Meaning that it appears in quests, mentioned by name on occasion in game lore, used as a picture for game news, etc. There would probably need to be a bit of green/blue-screening for that, but it would add a whole new level of "LEGO" factor.

Sounds interesting - I'll look forward to it!

It goes a lot deeper than that - if you include Club Magazines, promotion materials, etc., you can create a timeline that links together almost all themes. One of these days, I may post a huge post with a long list of them all... For the moment, I'll link you to the Sci-Fi thread on the Space timeline - but be careful, there is a of hypothesis when it comes to dates, and not all agree with the given canon. For instance, one of the currently best composed timeline sets Mars Mission as happening in 2045 - which raises a lot of question as to how Clutch Powers and his crew were wearing them in 2009*. *And then you have people who suggest that Clutch Powers happened in the future. Which could be possible. But, dates in LEGO City always seems to be specific to the theme-line of that year, and only sets produced up to 2009 are seen. Not to mention, Alien Conquest happened in 2011, and one of the LEGO Club Magazine was filled with fake newspaper articles for it - all of which were dated from 2011.

Heroica RPG - Expert Job Class Discussion
Lind Whisperer replied to LEGOman273's topic in The Heroica Archive
I'll go over those. In my spare moments, I've been fiddling with my own little ideas for an advanced class* specifically based around throwing weapons. Well, two, actually, but more like two sides of a coin**. Would having a "Boomerang" ability - weapon is automatically returned without losing a turn to retrieve it if the attack was 25% or less of maximum attack - be overpowered? *I know I have to lead a quest before they can be put up for official inspection. **Not like LEGOman273's ideas for the Brotherhood of Doom, one has an attack bonus on Demons/Dark enemies and the other on Holy/Luminous, and that's it. -
Just as a side-bar, I just want to thank both Kintobar and Flipz for their posts - I was of course not a participant on #93, but reading two of the most experienced players' reviews of what works and doesn't work for a quest was extremely enlightening.

Heroica RPG- Quest #103: Alfendi Lupine Strikes Again!
Lind Whisperer replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
Ooc: Hmm...You make a good point. I was thinking, from the way he responded to my petting, that he was an NPC, that could join the party as an ally...But I guess it's not worth the risk. I'm not entirely convinced he's with Lupine, as that would mean that Alfendi's plan hinges on a single point that he has absolutely no control over, but Butch is another loose end we'd have to chance. "You make a good point, my friend." Lind turned to Lady Akrone. "Perhaps then, it might be best if we didn't keep him with us." He turned, and regretfully patted the dog on the head one last time. "If we are wrong in suspecting you, then I apoligize."- 500 replies

Heroica RPG- Quest #103: Alfendi Lupine Strikes Again!
Lind Whisperer replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
"I was merely considered the potential effect that might happen if you were to simply 'vanish'. Members of the Wolfgang do not simply leave the Wolfgang, unless they have an important reason to do so. We must keep in mind this matter may be political in origin." "To paraphrase the great Je Pei strategist, Sun Hu¿, and his masterful text, The Farce of War, the first victory of a battle is not on the battlefield, but in the efforts of the general to plan for all possible attacks, and to arrange his forces in such a way as to lessen or eliminate the chances of the success of the majority of them." Lind nodded. "I do believe we are." He bent down and scratched Butch's head. "That's a good boy, yes you is, yes you is." He looked up at Lady Akrone. "I don't suppose that Butch might stay with us? Having a dog to smell for enemies would give us yet another advantage over Lupine." He kept on rubbing Butch. "What do you say, do you want to catch a Big Bad Woof with me? Yes, you do, yes you do*!" Ooc: *And yet again, I at how baby-talk to dogs sounds like when it's typed out...- 500 replies

Heroica RPG - Expert Job Class Discussion
Lind Whisperer replied to LEGOman273's topic in The Heroica Archive
Right. I meant Expert Class based around throwing weapons, not Advanced Class. I really need to watch my typing. I'm planning to go Assassin, since Raider and Black Knight are both more or less front row, non-ranged attack classes. I've just been trying to figure out what Expert Class to someday train for. -

Thanks for the review - I was wondering if the popsicle was the usual Trans-Light Yellow, or if they had surprised us with a Yellow one for a change...Ah, well, a few more popsicles in the old colors can't hurt, seeing as it's not the most common of parts - although it is a pity that they haven't done a Red one in a very long while... The tent isn't bad at all, but it's a pity it's orange...The $14.99 could be worse, I suppose, but I would rather have a stock of the Friends one, with the camo and all. I wonder if it'll ever get offered online...

Heroica RPG- Quest #103: Alfendi Lupine Strikes Again!
Lind Whisperer replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Thank you, I would. As I not quite as armored for battle as the rest of the company, I will probably be in the last rows of attack, relying mainly on my two Ethereal Decks for attacks, but I will gladly borrow it in case of unforeseen events." For a while, I have been wishing to start work on a space fleet of my own. Exactly what to work on was a rather tricky question, as one week I might be wanting to focus on one faction, only to change the next week to a completely different one. Then, I saw a forum member's signature, which, on one side, had an array of a overhead view of all of his neo-classic ships, and that, combined with the up-coming release of the Exo-Suit, made me realize that the best starting place, was where the entire theme had begun - with classic space. But what to build? I wanted something that was not too impressive, or parts heavy, but had at a sizable cockpit and was at least of medium size. After a bit of thinking, I remembered the 7315: Solar Explorer, and I had my project. I took the model, built it in LDD, and then carefully read through the instructions to the 487, the 497, and the 918, analyzing the building color styles of the three. I then took the model, and began to take it apart, piece by piece, and recolor it in the same way that it would have been colored if it had been made back in the 70's, leaving only the instruments, printed tiles, and cockpit the same. This was the end result. Known problems: It's missing the plastic covering, the left laser is not positioned properly due to LDD restraints, and although the colors are right, the printings are all wrong. Also, the 6219 is in Old Grey, not Blue Light Grey, as it was never released in that color - the same issue is present with 3085px2 not being Trans-Yellow. I am hoping to slowly build this over time, and was posting it here for critique from the experts, and, hopefully, someday I'll be able to post real-world building updates from time to time. Comments and thoughts always welcome . LFX file: Brickshelf folder

Neo-Classic Space 7315: Solar Explorer Project
Lind Whisperer replied to Lind Whisperer's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I was thinking about that, but I couldn't see a way to do that without modifying the wing structure, and I wanted to keep the same build as in the original set. I can see why - it's a cute little ship. Not too small, not too big, with a decently sized cargo chamber and cockpit. -
Heroica RPG- Quest #103: Alfendi Lupine Strikes Again!
Lind Whisperer replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
"I believe that the card is in the manner of a brag, a taunt to his victims, of his skills and power. However, your mention of the word "you" does give me a thought. I had wondered myself earlier, as to whether the wine was the real target. Now that I think of it, Lady Perin, did you not say that you are escorting Mrs. Akrone to Luosh? Mrs. Akrone, although Lupine does specifically mention collection, a word that I find difficulty in applying to this idea - what would be the effect, the political fall-out if you were the target of this robbery?" Ooc: Technically, I suppose, if you were to be a bit crude, I suppose that you could say that Lady Perin and Mrs. Akrone together form a collection of sorts...- 500 replies

Heroica RPG- Quest #103: Alfendi Lupine Strikes Again!
Lind Whisperer replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Especially the bottles that are supposed to go to the Shadeux. In my research, I found that Alfendi recently left the Wolfgang, for unknown reasons. I would not at all be surprised to find that politics are at play here, in some way." Ooc: Sorry if I'm going overboard with the planning...I've read all of the stories that were in the public domain, and I'm going at it as if I was actually going against Lupin in one of them...- 500 replies

Heroica RPG- Quest #103: Alfendi Lupine Strikes Again!
Lind Whisperer replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Perhaps then, we should begin a two-step process. One of the most unexpected robbery styles, is the one in which the victim is robbed before the robbery. With your permission, of course, I suggest that we investigate one or two bottles at random, and inspect their contents, to make sure that Lupine has not already made some sort of a switch. If this is not the case, I suggest that we also make sure to bring in, hidden underneath our various cloaks and inside our bags*, bottles of the same size and color, with labels matching the ones on the wine - but filled with cheaper wine, of course - and then swap them out with the real wine bottles. I doubt that Lupine's scheme is simple enough to fall prey to a simple trick like that, but if we throw enough unexpected maneuvers into his path, then he may make a small error, enabling us to glimpse the larger plan." Ooc: *Was there ever an official name for our inventories? Maybe my idea's a little over-complicated... ...Not to mention that, if you think about it, I almost make it sound like we're working for Lupine... Now that would be a plot twist...If Lupine's plan involved us over-planning...- 500 replies
