[COR - MRCA] Not dusk but dawn

I love this build and story, but must concur with Ayrlego that COR needed to be consulted beforehand. That said, I'm glad that COR is accepting this as canon. The Sea Rats should PM me for some biographical background info for Bluebeard now that he has joined their ranks. Congrats to Bluebeard for finding a way to move beyond his NPC roots!
  2. That's a good question. @Bregir, @Ayrlego, @Professor Thaum, what do you think? Should we discuss this in the court?
  3. Yeah, I should have called that out immediately. My bad.
  4. @Bodi and @Captain Genaro, I wanted to call your attention to some special results that I didn't mention in the KPA proper, but are in the notes in the result tables. Four OL ships -- Mr. Twistie, Tartarus, The Taurus, and The Corcel -- were damaged and require repair MOCs before they can sail again. This was part of the GMing process in figuring out the results of the assaults. FYI.
  5. Thanks! This was a tough one! There's a pic of Bluebeard in this post... ...but at the moment Brickshelf is down and the photo doesn't display. If it's not up soon, I can dig up my original and post it here directly.
  6. Migery's Revenge and Midas Touch II will abstain from gambling hi-jinks, but the captains of La Contessa de Victoria (Philip Janszen), Far Horizon (Anthony Crol), and Fenris Ranger (gee, I need to come up with a captain for this one) will take their chances at the full Mesabi Landing experience.
  7. A KPA addendum. (Hey, it's difficult getting a paper out while there's fighting in the streets!) - page 3 - Oleon Squadron forces Corrish blockade of Nola Mar We have late arriving news from Nola Mar. After the disappearance of Royal Navy Captain Sir Jno. Cooke and the mysterious events surrounding this, a strong Corlander squadron has subjected all vessels leaving from and arriving at Nola Mar to inspections under the authority of our illustrious Grand Admiral L'Olius. However, we have now confirmed that an Olean squadron arrived at Nola Mar, forcing its way past the blockade. We have learned from sources in Westface that, with the Oleon betrayal of Terraversan independence still unbeknownst to the Corrish squadron off Nola Mar, the redcoats decided to retreat under protest to avoid an international incident as the Oleon flagship loosened a broadside and thus signalled its intention to break the blockade by force. One can only speculate how La Royale would have fared, had the Royal Navy had word of the Oleon invasion, as the two squadrons were reportedly evenly matched. What repercussions will this have on OL/COR relations is unknown at this time. By now, it is evident that the uprising in Nola Mar is connected to the Oleon invasion, and little doubt persists that it was part of a general plot to overthrow our legitimate Terraversan government and independence. As to the Corrish captain, we have heard that he was handed over to Oldis as a spy! The KPA editors think a release of Captain Cooke would be the prudent choice, as Terraversa could well use the friendship of a longtime Oleon rival in these dire times.

  12. July-August 620. Vol 5, Special Edition OLEON INVADES TERRAVERSA! Kings Port is shrouded in the smoky haze of battle as a fleet of Oleon’s 25 largest ships sailed into the harbor and opened fire on the port’s fortifications. Five ships that were already here with the RNTC are helping shelter dozens of long boats ferry hundreds of bluecoated soldiers to shore. Flashes of cannon fire from the Oleon ships and the fortresses that protect our city continually illuminate the haze as our local regiments make preparations to repel the invaders. Meanwhile, reports from smaller settlements around the island tell us that at least five other Oleon fleets are openly assaulting Terraversan towns. Nine ships last spotted in Astrapi are bombarding Sillithonia and have sent a battalion ashore. From Tarlor we hear that 24 ships last reported in Breshaun are bombarding the local defenses and landing nearly four companies of bluecoats. Fom Pilnton we have received word that 18 ships out of Granoleon are bombarding the shore batteries. Small squadrons have also opened fire on the towns of Tanari and Nola Mar. In total, we believe nearly 90 ships and possibly a full division of bluecoats – more than 800 men! – are involved in the assault. If you are here on Terraversa, we at the KPA urge all able-bodied citizens to take up musket and blade, whether sword or farm implement, and fight the dastardly bluecoats. Make the beaches, the streets, and the fields run red with their blood! If you are unable to fight, make your way to safer regions of the interior, or to the defenses of Westface. If you are reading this somewhere off the island, then ships from our national trade fleet were able to escape Kings Port harbor and sail past the invading Oleon fleet. Know that the Bluecoats are villainous deceivers. Send help if you can, and protect yourself against similar perfidy! The outcome of these assaults is as yet unknown. We will endeavor to continue publishing as long as we have a printing press, but receiving reports from our far-flung correspondents may be more difficult in the coming weeks. Rest assured that one way or another, we will find a way to get the news to you.
  13. Ah, but in that case the soldiers and the senate were both Roman. In this case the soldiers are Oleonese and the "senate" Terraversan, so not a proper example.
  14. I'm not arguing against that point at all! Just pointing out that Oleon's statement is flimsy and could be applied by any faction against any other faction as justification for an unjustified war.
  15. I would expect nothing less! I totally agree! Well, if you consider that NPC pirates have their location hidden when calling on NPC ports, then presumably if any NPC pirate has ever attacked an ESL ship, his argument must be true! And Terraversa did institute port taxes that applied to all factions. Subsequently ESL and COR endeavored to strike trade deals with Terraversa to avoid the taxes, but OL did not. I guess they prefer to negotiate through strength. I am intrigued that Oleon is so concerned with the treatment of Mardierian shipping... So if Terraversa's Grand Admiral L'Olius were made leader of Terraversa, Oleon would peacefully depart, the tyrant having been deposed? So if any faction sovereign observes abuses within another sovereign nation, he/she can "take action as needed to address and rectify" the problem? I've heard lots of complaints about the Faith. Perhaps someone should do something about that...
  16. Soon. (Soon-ish?) OOC it should be published normally; IC it will have some problems. Basically, calculating the results of this massive assault is taking longer than the usual MRCA to process, so I wanted to get this special edition out in the normal timeframe so that everyone could know what is happening. No, the KPA will go on, one way or another!
  17. Wonderful build, absolutely top notch! There's lots to like here, but I'll point out the subtlety of the ground detail, and of course the use of yellowed white bricks to advantage. I'm also likely to steal that profile at the ends of the roofs for my own purposes.

    Smugglers near Salida Este

A fun build! The smugglers' wagon with hiding place is neat. Great texture and irregularity to the ground. I love the printed round tile piece for the cut trunks, and the variety of greens in this build is intriguing: lots of olive and bright green, with some sand green as well. I don't think there's a spot of regular green! It fits right in to the Salida Este aesthetic. Well done! Will do!
  19. Would you believe I already am?
  20. Oleon must be venturing out into the MRCA again if they need two commodores...

    [SR-FB1] - Jul '620 - Marvel II

Nice sistership vig. I really like the windows (arches on top of rectangular, lots of gold) and the curtains (a bit of a new approach to others seen here, and it is effective). Good presentation all around.
