The Love for Printed Pieces Thread/Sticker Resentment Thread
Vindicare replied to danth's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It’s not a simple question though. Sure, you could get simple answers, it that doesn’t do much for the discussion. As MAB said, there’s many factors that could & do go into actually answering that question. Here’s a comparison from 2015, both $30 sets from Marvel. 10687 a Juniors set- 137 parts, 3 minifgs. 76031- 248 parts, 4 minifigs with one being a bigfig & 2 stickers. I’d wager that’s how a lot of Junior vs System sets would look. Even though I know it’s not the best because Juniors also has a a few bugger than normal parts which also drive cost.- 57 replies

REVIEW: 80044 Monkie Kid's Team Hideout
Vindicare replied to Pchan1983's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Agreed. I think it will pair better with the Mountain, even though it won’t integrate like its shown to with City of Lanterns. I’m not sure what sales are over here, but it’s definitely the fault of LEGO themselves. I tend to wander into Barnes & Noble or Target & make impulse buys semi regularly...none of which are MK since they aren’t available.- 3 replies

How do they feel deja vu? The Ultra Mech couldn’t be any different from the Warrior Mech. It’s so much more solid & bulky. The articulation in the arms is SO much better than the old one. The look is completely different as well. The Hideout is remotely similar in some areas to Flower Fruit Mountain, but still distinct enough to be its own. Elephant Mech is something new too.

I don’t expect it to be anytime this month. There was a picture floating around here earlier in the month with the GWP’s for January & the MK polybag wasn’t on there. I’m watching for it too, I want it to put without The Hideout(which I’m waiting to buy once the polybag is available).

Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Vindicare replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I would certainly never buy a $1,000 Hogwarts, but I would love to see it realized. For one thing, the real estate that would take in a home would be crazy. I’m most interested in seeing the Expecto Patronum set...I just don’t understand why they’re remaking it so big. The old set was perfect. What are we gonna get....a small lake portion build? More trees? As to the hypothetical end of the theme & our satisfaction with it...I’m just about there. There’s still a handful of minifigs I’d like to see & a few locations as well to really round it out. But I am more than happy with what we have gotten. Bringing it back to the rumored Gringotts, I’m disappointed that it seemingly has the rail system. Depending on how they do it, it won’t work with the current DA...which would be unthinkable & a stupid move by LEGO. Now if it’s something akin to Jabba’s Palace/Rancor Pit combo from years past, that would work fine. -
I think it would. The taller part has the same kind of look as parts of the Mountain. The other section may stick out a bit as it’s more modern but as that whole set looks good together I’m sure it’ll work as well.
-
I see you paired it with Lanterns, but what about mixing & matching per the back of the instructions? To me, it looks a bit strange as I don’t really see them going well together. It’s kinda like old world & new but doesn’t flow like it does in the Ninjago Modulars.
-
To add on, the articulation in the arms are my favorite improvement. The lack of it in the old one made it feel stiff. I’m not on one side or the other on the foil parts. They do feel, in a way, more authentic. I definitely prefer them on the head of Ultra as they’re ribbons & the old looked more like antennae. Ultra really is better in nearly every way. I say nearly because I liked the ability to move the head up & down on the older one. But the one new has the look & feel of just being an appropriate & bulky upgrade. And the addition of the jet components is just amazing. It really feels complete with them attached. This is now the closest we’ve come to having Gundam in LEGO. The two Titan mechs from Ninjago were close. Edit: One more thing about the Ultra(mechs in general), knees. After we got them in Zane’s Titan mech it makes ones without a little lacking. Minor gripe. Also, Azure Lion’s hair is amazing! It’s certainly a stand out in that set. I too gave Tang his staff. Then I ended up making the full complement of weapons...which are now in the hands of Garmadon.

I suppose there’s no word on the polybag that I may have missed? Trends show it’s gonna be a GWP & I’m guessing it’s not gonna be this month. I need to know how long I have to refrain from buying the Hideout.

My friend got the Speed Champions Lambo & 2 of the wheels prints were off centered. That’s a wrong print. And printing on some minifigs, white printing on black bricks, or the Red/white...or should I say pink, Lion faction is bad printing.- 57 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 24. Rumors and discussion
Vindicare replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Got the 8 I really wanted at B&N yesterday. After going to the LEGO store in the morning too. I was happy to see the box they put out hadn’t been touched yet, despite them being open for about 4 hours by the time I showed up. I got all but the Robot Warrior, Orc, Football Referee & Rococo Aristocrat. I don’t have any interest in the ref but I will get the other three later Love all of them, even the Rockin’ Horse Girl. While I’d rather not see minifigs we could get in other themes, like City, I don’t mind them as they’re more people to help populate my city. I’m happy to finally see dinosaur suits make their official debut. For no reason in particular I shy away from 3rd party stuff but man was I missing out on those great dino suits. The Carrot Suit Guy looks even better without his carrot suit. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Vindicare replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I had a very strange but large mess up in my instructions. At the end of bag 12 there’s two pages of bag 13 before we’re told to open bag 13. That aside, it was a fun build. The entrance was my favorite part of it. I don’t even mind the blue as much as I did in the pictures. Still bummed about the dark red not being dark blue...even so much so that on the drive home I was considering changing it, but that’s a lot of color swapping. I think it looks fine dark red though. -
Lego [codename!?] TITAN 2023
Vindicare replied to Megbricks's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I’d say that fits Garmadon perfectly. If anything is shark themed, it definitely has to be him. -
Excellent. I called ahead & asked but was met with a not so confident response, but rolled the dice anyways. And there it was sitting on the shelf. It was definitely weird communication somewhere in the line.

Garmadon in space. -
Where did you see it confirmed to be online only for the 1st? I searched & found two reviews(brickarchitect & brickfanatics) that state it’s online and in store.
-
Very cool, you captured him & his stance perfectly.

While I’m also not getting the Hideout day one, I’m saving the Elephant mech for the polybag. It’s probably going to have a $75 buy in...judging by LEGO’s stupidly high thresholds lately.

Tradition is going to the store for the Modular. I’m very impatient waiting for LEGO but the Modular will at least distract me for most of the wait. A shame for sure...us MK fans are doomed to wait for the mail. Is Leceister store near you at all? Reasonable distance? With little hope I will be calling ahead just in case they accidentally got a shipment in.
-
I’m pretty sure I already know the answer to this, but has anyone heard about these being sold in stores again with the next wave? It feels stupid to have to order the new Monkey Mech about 12 hours before I head to the LEGO store to buy the Modular.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Vindicare replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I wonder if the jazz club being smaller took a hit because they don’t do bars. I feel like a 32x32 would’ve been hard to fill without a bar. I mean, just more tables & chairs? Even though they’ve done pubs before...but those were fantasy types. A bigger stage with a more filled out band could’ve been good. Nonetheless, I like your idea of having the donut & pizzeria being together as split buildings. It’s definitely time we see a true single use building again. The City one from a few years back was really well done & it wasn’t even a full baseplate. A three story, single use 32 baseplate would work great. The dark red bellhop came in 60200 Capital City set. -

That doesn’t make sense though. By the time this hits shelves the Bugle will have been out for what...a year & a half(give or take). I suppose the overlap could’ve been an issue, but I just don’t see it. I believe in the video you posted that he said other designers commented on the dark blue color & it was changed because of that. I wish I didn’t even know that dark blue was there first... -

After seeing pictures of the real thing & not the render, the blue doesn’t look as bad. It’s a shame, per the interview, that dark red was originally dark blue. It would’ve paired better with the bottom floor blue & wouldn't make it stick out so much. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

That’s how it’s always been though. The interiors of appropriate businesses nevertheless have enough seats. There’s two tables inside PR, two booths inside DD, 6 seats inside PC. We’re never going to get accurate sized interiors. Couldn’t have put it better myself. It’s copy n paste year after year. This. I saw the angled look of it from the box and I find it more flattering. That blue is still too much though. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Vindicare replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
The set isn’t being received badly here...like pretty much every Modular(any set really), there’s a varying degree of those who like it(good to great, like to love & everywhere in between), and mostly so, and there are those few who don’t. You’re just reiterating what the other commenter said...that TLG is doing this leak because they know the set isn’t bad. I prefer to give designers more credit. There’s always changes or thresholds that are to be met, but just because the entirety of their vision wasn’t realized means they’re back embarrassed by the set. And just because people don’t like it doesn’t mean the designers are embarrassed by it. It just reminds me of the video Marcos Bessa put out after the Hogwarts Express Collector’s Edition was revealed.
