Hi and goodday Maybe some of you know my city, it's called Canalview (there's a link in my signature) anyway, half a year ago I started with designing and sketching a new big central station for my small city. But because it was december, and bought way to much, I was not able to realize the plan. However since a few weeks I finnaly started building, and the main structure/frame is mostly finished. But remeber that everything needs a bit more polished After a few PaB orders for parts the station finnaly got a decent shape. But I still need a huge amount of glass to finish everything Inside the station is a small restaurant from the public transport set, and a small kiosk of the latest train station. In the middle is a fountain with bricks that are special to me. Like the 2004 red Lego Fabrik bricks, and the lime and light blue bricks, that by then were the only bricks in my collection with that color. I always like to talk about precious childhood memories, but this is not the place for that Another overview One of the more clearer images of the large hall. In the background you can see yellow tiles with black arrows, these indicate the stairs towards the trains underneath the station. The main entrance of the station, I used the station set from 2004 to construct this part of the building. Inside is the control room, to make shure every train get's on the station within time The first hall, here people can buy tickets and leave their laguage safe. The floor with the trains And the other side where the ICE train is stationed. Thanks for watching. however finishing the building will take more time than I expected. I really need to cut my budget since I bhough a little to much last year. Also with the new Dino sets comming this winter, most money will be spend on that line, since City is kinda a letdown for me. I hope it can be finished in a year, but that depends if the Dino line gets another wave Advice is always apreciated

This is probaly the first time in my life that I liked the preliminary pics better that the finalized onces. What a dissapointment, the t-rex just look weird and much more unlego than the prototype. They all just look very cheap to me, with an overcolorized background and stuff. Like they wanted to have me not buying these for some reason
-
I've bought many 'fake' building bricks in the past, some better than others. But we also need to realize it's not all about the quality of the bricks. It's about even more. I think there are good reasons why these fake sets are so cheap, and not only because of their inferior material. Also things like 'do these companies care about environmental impact'? Most fake brands come from China, and while I have nothing against China, most products are made of inferior quality (because we in the west want to have cheap products tough..). But also China is one of the bigger poluters on this planet, while Lego got several prizes for their environmental policy. Also another thing are the working conditions of the people who're making these toys. Again nothing against China, but most of us know that many people must work there under conditions that would not be accepted in factories in the west. Now I don't want to have a discussion about these things here, but I do think these things matter, and some constumers may not realize that when they say that Lego is way to expensive compared to these fake brands.

'the last chronicler' Didn't we all agree to stop this discussion? Really it helps us nothing with what people should be discussing here;the new Dino theme

Well, the 2005 were bad because this was the year that Lego finnaly decided to do everthing different, since they had lost a lot of money due to dropping sales. The theme before this one was World City, which was also only police and rescue. Lego needed to rethink their concept of sets for children that they can relate to. Police and fire sets still looked a lot like the World City color scheme, but it also introduced much new things. Also the construction sets were not that good, but this can be due to the fact that they didn't design much desend constuction sets in years. I don't think they're that bad at all. It was also a learning process for Lego, because if you look at the sets of today, or a few years back, you still can see they used basic shapes and constructions of the first wave of City, only better. Much like the evolution of cars in the real world, everything gets better over time. After these years they expanded this theme even further than any other town theme in Lego's history. With the farm sets, forrest police and fire and so on. Some sets were better, and some worse but no-one can deny that the introduction of the new City theme was a turning point in Lego history.

I meant only that they also had open backs, the example given of the Fire temple was also not ment to be placed against each other.. -

That technique is used for decades, look at the city/town sets from the 90's, they all had open backs. -
I would like to see a car with a dark blue or normal blue line. Red is also good, but I've seen many trains with just that red line.

I think Lego will release something like this, many people, also ourside Eurobricks, have been talking about such a sub-theme. Maybe Lego listens to this. Even tough I wouldn't like such a theme

Wait, I'm slightly confused right now. So the main pic shows two sets together? But how are they going to do that with the minifigs? Will they be separate sets, with different minifigs, or does a single set contains all the minifigs we can see in the main pic? And I really think it's misleading of Lego to put these two sets together, I finnaly tought we could have a great deal for that price, but instead we pay twice as much for the set(s) in the pic I really need to rethink this, because I'm not paying that much money for two sets -

Wow....I thought my wallet was going to have an easy first year..This proves once again I'm wrong. This set is one of the best sets our dear Danish company has ever released. -
The base looks very good, I was expecting a little more but you can not have everything The green-ish T-rex looks really cool. Does anyone know what the trans lime green barrels, and flick fire missiles are?
-
My first reaction was just; Wow...that is impressive. The entire thing, details, foilage, size and all the other things are so good and well tought. Really awesome, and would love to see more Lotr mocs like these
-
The entire thing is massive. All the good old 12Volt trains and the entire style just screams classic town. Can't wait to see it finished
-
yes there is, the entire layout takes about 30% of my entire room, still because it's on a table, can store much underneath it, like more Lego But I try to not to buy anything until the new Dino sets come out
-
Thank you I did not see that, but I did spot some skyscraper like buildings in the background, and if 1+1=2 it could mean it's this story: In the city researchers made somekind of dino experiment but it went wrong Dino's leave the city and go to a nearby jungle The Dino tracking teams get awesome vehicles to capture these prehistoric monsters All in all it looks almost like a literal copy of the Dino 2010 story, except these dino's are not mutants It's just a theory tough.
-
Yes because the dropship is based on a helicopter (skycrane) that this new set is based on Also according to the Polish description and my ability to translate text with Google, gave me a small sentence about the story. It will be a classic styled dinosaur story, with scientist. Meaning it will probaly be similar to Dino Attack, only the setting is probaly on somekind of Island. Altough in the background of the set with the raptor you can see what look likes skyscrapers in the background. But this may be due to the quality of the pic

So here are my temporary toughts on these prelimary images The sets are all in a good color scheme. It seems that it was actually influenced by the one from Dino attack, since that one was Sand yellow-with Dark red accents. The new one is Yellow and Dark red. The logo seems to be a black silhouette of the T-rex (strinkingly similar to the jurassic park logo). The dino's are more detailed than their predesecors from Dino-attack. But they look more like lego. They do not have the over-organic shape, but more like they were carved out of wood or something, making them look less-organic but still fitting with the rest of the Lego world. The theme is very vehicle orientated, with only 2 sets with medium/large structures. 5882: A nice little set to pick up. We have seen a concept of this kind of vehicle many times before, but this one looks more compact. Some foilage and a dino that can ambush this set makes it a nice addition to the theme, but for me not a must-have 5883: A small lookout tower near a swamp in the forest. The fish to catch pteranodon's is really an ingenious concept. It also comes with a jet-ski and a very detailed-but still lego looking pteranodon. Also a good set, and the cheapest set with a flying dino so far. 5884: Also a nice medium set. A 4X4 vehicle (somewhat similar to the one from Dino-attack, only smaller) to catch the attacking raptor. Once again they use food to catch the dino. Also included is a reinforced radar station of some kind. But wait..is that a city skyline in the background I see? Maybe it's just the picture but I do see some sky-scraper like contours in the background. Meditate about this I will 5888: a plane that's able to land in water, we've seen it before. It seems that it's around the same price as the previous set. And it would look good together with the small lookout tower from 5883. Also in this set is somekind of net-catapult function and a jet ski. This is the second set with a Pteranodon. 5886: a giant vehicle with a horned dino, probaly a triceratops. It's nice to see a come-back of a dino we haven't seen since 2001. The modl is ofcourse different and much more detailed, but like most dino's they look a lot like a combination of the two previous dino themes: The weird ones from Dino 2010/Attack and the more Lego-but less detailed versions from Dino Island. The vehicle is something that reminds me of the Claw catcher from the Power miners line. 5885: My favorite so far. A giant Sky-Crane helicopter and a giant T-rex. The T-rex seems to have the same anatomy as the one from Dino-2010/attack, except the tail is probaly semi-posable. The helicopter it comes with is also a nice variaty from what we've seen elsewhere. But will it actually be able to lift the mighty T-rex? 5887: The research station. Not a very clear pic so I will try to give my opinion about it. It looks we get two dino's. A yellow-ish T-rex and a red raptor. The rest of the set consist of a Sentai-base (from the Exo-foroce theme) like structure to imprisson the T-rex. This also reminds me of Lavatraz (power miners). Also a big control tower is included, a heli landing pad,a jeep, and a smaller helicopter The question I asked myself was: Is this theme good enough for a second wave? Since I'm very happy with this theme it will probaly influence my judgement. The new molds are very good, and I hope they will reuse them in another wave. Only the fact that they don't pay to much attention to marketing (as said on the retailers catalque page) makes me wonder if it's just a one wave theme, or multi wave theme. Well, so far the sets. At least I know now that I will probaly end up buying every single set of this theme , since the 2012 sets of City are a little of a letdown for me
-
The sets look good, It's nice to see some new vehicles in the City line. My favorite is the big police helicopte. The rest of the sets are also good, but the fact that we had a fesh police theme last year makes me a little, unoptimistic about these ones
-
Looks better than thougt, at least it's minifig scale so other people can use it in their own city's. Not something for me, but I think it's a relief for the other people that were afraid for a Belville-syndrome
-
The sets really look good by themselves, and some very interesting parts and minifigs are used. But I really miss the time I could just believe something, like this theme, without thinking to much like: "how is it possible that ninja's are fighting in modern vehicles against snake men in also some modern vehicles, combined with some ancient vehicles Kids will probaly love it so much more than me
-
Don't see this as a troll or anything, but the new sets (so far) look to me horrid, the overal design is just strange, and I think the entire concept of such a plane is archaic since the helicopter (with the same function) is still widely avaliable at least the dino sets look good to me . Still eager to see more
-
It seems to totally live up to my expectations, except the peacefull thingy. It seems like Dino 2010, but much, and much better. The dino's are more detailed but still look like Lego's. My end of the day could not be better

Good afternoon, morning or any other time of the day. About a small year ago I bought set 7938, for the ones who don't recognize the number here's a pic: After building it I wanted to add some lights, in the front carriage, and the back one. The front was not a real problem, altough the space for the wires is extremely limited. But then came the other problem, and that is how to add lights to the back? Ofcourse I could add an extension wire for PF but then the roof can't open since the PF reciever sits a little to high for more than two PF connectors on top of each other. I've seen some people with this train, and with front and back lights, so can anyone explain me how these people have done that?

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
Brickviller replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'm not a real SW fan ( I was a couple of years ago) and I still follow some of the news. But these sets..they just look very weird to me. It's probaly because they're prelimary or something, but they look even more downgraded than some were, like the JSF, it just doesn't do it for me The battlepacks also look a little.. The only set I like is the escape pod, and that looks to me a very boring set It's probaly just me and the fact these are still prelimary But for now, I'n not impressed
