  1. Insects have legs and wings, and ants with wings have 6 legs and wings, ants without have 6 legs and no wings. No-one has ever proved that a dragon isn't an insect, so it could have 'hands'
  2. I've seen a lot of dead topics about LEGO flight recently, but no-one has anything electrical that actually flies. I did some research, and some math. We need to strip down our 'planes' , take off the plastic motor casing and battery box casing, maybe even just homebrew a battery box. Tethered flight is possible, according to zblj''s principles, but we need to start looking at the untethered side. Maybe this is going to look like a lego-frame quadcopter, but at least we will be using a lego motor, the buggy motor. Overvolting will also be needed, and maybe a gear-down.
  3. You could use a LEGO pneumatics model as a jet to propel it through space, propellers won't work when there's no air.
  4. Awesome! Best one so far, best playability, best function, best one here
  5. Well they'll need to use that lego at the ISS to make a POWERED propeller, and that's it. Anyone got any astronaut friends? I don't thing they've sent technic or PF yet so we'll have to do that to make this work
  6. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=68317 That is definitely 'sub par' If that's in the Hall of Fame, I could name about a million other models that should be
  7. EXACTLY! Let's take it to space, surely it will work there, at least inside the space station
  8. I have my own [MINI] project, but this might just get my vote
  9. Yes, logic hasn't ever got anyone anywhere. except for life-and-death logic It's amazing how after 6 pages, people are still actively posting. I've gone from new member to citizen since it started
  10. But they can all 'fall with style' And anything can fly on an ICBM, who's flown on one before?
  11. There's some awesome models in that list, I want it
  12. Maybe you could fit in those lego fake piston engines, I managed to stick some in my Offroad Racer buggy mini challenge entry
  13. Sorry if this sounds like I'm being really annoying, but how we know this is true Happy 100th post to myself
  14. I still read the other one (I created it), but I agree, it is a bit long in the tooth. Does it work? I've seen another pullback that flies using those props, but it didn't lift the motors up, only an axle. I need those props, but they are worthless if only for the aviation thing I have seen a model produce lift of 40 grams before, so I am watching this with interest Lose the 'stand' made of the 4x1-stud plates, makes it heavier, and not needed to fly
  15. Great mod, anything is better with PF
  16. I was looking at TheItalianBrick's post about the modular gearbox, and I tried to make it. This is too big for that topic, so I made this my own topic. I failed, so I tried my own way. It uses a linear actuator to make a really thin, long gearbox, though I could make it normal with just one tiny gear. It allows smooth movement back and forth, for each of the 4 functions. I wouldn't recommend this in a short vehicle, because it widens and shortens, best used in like a crane or something. It uses 1 motor for drive, 1 for change, and has 4 functions. You could use just one of these gearboxes to power 2 more, and those to power 4 more, then 8 more, then etc. You'd need a lot of torque, but it could work, eventually to 64, 128, 256 even, functions for just 2 motors, if you have enough bricks. I could build about 2 more, so 8 functions for me.
  17. Great entry, though try to photoshop the string out of the picture, you can see it easily Face the wings the other way for a more plane-wing shape aerofoil
  18. **** I didn't see the steering on the front wheels This is starting to look like a [HELP] topic
  19. Big gearbox for big models and more functions For like a robotic arm, you can have a lot of space for that, or a truck I broke my gearbox up it sucks anyway. Please don't reply, end thread
  20. Good idea, we could make a depleted uranium transporter Why is the steering on the second set of wheels? That would make the truck not drive well, because the second set of wheels would split the truck in two as the front wheels are going forward, leading the truck there, while the second set is just messing it all up and going in the wrong direction. Steering is ALWAYS the first (or sometimes last) set of wheels Lose them double tires, it makes it too wide there, and the axles would have less control and bend a bit Good LDD work though, and it is good apart from that And it is too high, as Zblj said.
  21. The wheels are falling off????????? The wheels aren't falling off!
  22. Parachute provides air resistance, making it fall down slower, but also making it fly up slower. No use at all
  23. :wall: Does it have to be a Lego container? I said BALLOON not a Lego house filled with helium
  24. Well, I can't build anything with more than one linear actuator, you have been warned. I'll build the drive, you build the rest then. I doubt it would work anyway, because I suck at LDD and I don't have LDraw, if that's any easier
