Analysis of 2016 LEGO Architecture sets...
XAxles replied to henrysunset's topic in Special LEGO Themes
So I guess the fig-scale Lady Liberty IS off-scale. -
Man... now how do I put suspension (all-legal, of course!) on that rally car?

Weird. After the initial big pics (which is all we needed, frankly), the Speed Champs sets are nowhere to be seen again. The Italian catalog had Archi sets and Nexo Knight figs (among other tasty things), but not SC, much less the 'Vette. LA Auto Show, perhaps?

Try comparing the blue panels with Maersk Blue. -
Technic 2016 Discussion and Speculation

A US$300-450 Technic set? I gotta see it to believe it. -
Also, pretty much the only real way to overhaul Ideas is for those that run to sift through the 1000-supports club and give each set that reaches that milestone ONE GOOD, LONG, HARD LOOK. Because in the perceived cesspool blokes called LEGO Ideas there's one set proposal that will be a unanimous winner from the very beginning. The one that you know will be a set and sell well with no second glance. The one that doesn't need an IP to be great, because it just is on all talking points. All that's needed is a truly expert eye.
-
So now here comes the hard part: how do you get a gem of a build, something that's truly unique, will be a blast to build but has no IP ties, and isn't too large (1000 pcs is the max limit) to be popular enough to get to 10k and be a set that's worth your money? Surely there's that one build or two currently in the Ideas pool that this site can give a seal of approval on and campaign hard enough until it gets to the magic number, right?

Whoa whoa whoa whoa wait a bloody-useless second. None of the proposals, not even the ISS, got through? . . . . That's vexing. Looks like there will be a blue '69 Corvette OR a UCS ISS as a D2C, or at least those ones are I think will be the ones that will most likely end up becoming sets after 2 years max (TLG has a Chevy license now thanks to Speed Champs, while the ISS will probably come up in an anniversary). And there you go, coming from the mouth of Ideas themselves.

Expected stickers for the Corvette: Headlights (on 1x2 curved slope) Z06 side vent (see the sticker on the Audi R8 LMS car) Vent on rear fenders (upper and lower) Taillamps (on 2x2 slope) I have a feeling that the grille is stickered, but then that space seems to be 2-wide and easy to do using LEGO grille pieces. Also, TLG will probably use the EU-spec Z06 without the weird turn signal in front.
-
BURN THE HERETIC!!! Really, if it's not the cars, it may just be either of the UCS dinos that will make it, or, disappointingly, Golden Girls.
-
It's becoming a tighter contest. The larger candidate sets look as good as a D2C lineup that's good for two, even four, years, barring Star Wars and the Fairground sub-theme for Creator Expert.
-
Also... are those 2W bow pieces on the front that make the fascia 3 studs long or 4 studs long? Looks 3L to me.
-
Most probably he's talking about the Power Functions winch.

CREATOR Expert Vehicles - Rumours and Discussion
XAxles replied to Squarefoot_Calrissian's topic in Special LEGO Themes
There'd be many, but I wanna see aircraft, like the Airbus A380, or an all-new Red Baron that's just like the newer 10226 Sopwith Camel. For a car... I'd guess they'll make the McLaren F1, but I'll be gobsmacked if they do Ayrton Senna's F1 rig, the MP4/4, complicated licensing with Honda and tobacco sponsorship (or the lack of it) and all. -
I'll make a guess and say not much. The back of the box, however, is the more interesting bit.
-
Using my purse, of course.
-
Good thing I don't have a wallet.

Holy [LANGUAGE] Lord, they're [LANGUAGE] here and they look [LANGUAGE] rad and accurate and where the [LANGUAGE] is the Corvette? The words will come pouring out of me, so bear with me. I've seen a much better current-generation 'Stang on Flickr, but hey, better than nothing. The front end is borked. The minifig, however, is good, as are the new hubcap rims. 7/10 R18 R18 R18 R18 R18 R18 R18 R18 R18 R18 (ever noticed that the names of Audi's LMP1 cars, from R8 to R10 to R15 to R18, seem to be movie ratings that keep going higher and higher?) R18 R18 R18 R18 R18 R18 R18 R18 R19 R18 R18 R18 R18 (damn that build is just so spot-on) R18 R18 R18 R18 R18 R18 R18 R18 R18 R18 R18 (SNOT work past the cockpit) R18 R18 R18 R18 R18 10/10 will buy two. Good thing they stuck to the older-gen R8 LMS. The side blade is an ace job, and te rest of the car is bang-on. 9/10. I was right about the old-and-new Camaro combo. I dig the old 'Maro and the Start/Finish line, but not the new one (unless I see it from the side). 7/10 Damn that Raptor is way too short. Regular cab? Really? The Hot Rod, however, is excellent. 8/10 15/10 *faints* ---- Seriously, even for the money it asks, it's a star. The 917 is GORGEOUS, and the 919 is a worthy adversary to the R18 (and even more pleasing to the eyes), but the stickering on the latter still doesn't fully do the livery justice. As for the facility... it ROCKS!!! This set will be a hot item. 15/10 *dies* This wave is a home run for me, even if we haven't seen the Corvette.

I voted Exo-Suit, but I hold the Shinkai 6500, Hayabusa and Curiosity in high esteem. I, for one, would like to see more of those kinds of sets, but with some beefier descriptions on the booklet. Birds, too. I'm surprised it doesn't get as many votes.
-
Ha! But really, excellent advice. Well, back to waiting on Speed Champions.

New 10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper van Box?
XAxles replied to hwangmihee1's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Woo! They're re-releasing the Camper Van! -
Uh, Q: must I boycott this theme? And must I convince enough people to boycott this theme?
-
That is Adeel Zubair's Ideas set. The set number is probably a random choice. Besides, the prelim shots already say it.
-
Oohhh, so looks like we're getting a Neuer fig.

Technic 2016 Discussion and Speculation
XAxles replied to Ondra's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Eh, the car can wait. As I see it, the Ultimate IP Car name may be little more than a code or temporary name for a licensed model. As to what, heck if I know, but it's gotta bring AWD for a start.
