So the Le Mans Car's B-model looks like the Local Motors Rally Fighter? -
Yo, guys, the real-life McLaren P1 GTR is announced and feelers for a LaFerrariXX (like the Ferrari FXX) has been circulating. Couple that with the 918 RSR concept and the LEGO models might just get the same treatment from modders! (OK, maybe not the LaFXX as it hasn't been shown yet, but still) Plus, the latter mod will go well with the orange 997 GT3 model. I mean, look at it: All you need is a roof for the 918! Also, here's hoping for the eventual return in spirit of the Tiny Turbo sub-line! It'd be interesting how'd they come up with 4W versions of these cars. And another thing, why did TLG not bring in the P1 and 918 in the press release, but the F70 did, considering that those three form the Hybrid Hyper Trio? Or maybe it's to show what areas of autos TLG will cover?

Here, right here, is a good point. I'm glad you said it.

You know, the bitches at the Guardian and their hoe-friends?

Yo-Sub Joo, the man behind the BEHEMOTH that is the Avengers Helicarrier among other gigantic builds rendered in POV-RAY, has just come out with another large build. You are now looking at the "Ocean Platform Prison", and no, the picture above just won't do the immensity of this build justice. How large is this oilrig/container dept/research facility/prison/what have you is, you ask? Well, it's 298 studs (7.8 ft or 2.3m) tall, 90 studs (0.72m or 2.3ft) wide, and 240 studs (1.92 m or 6.2 ft) end to end, and built using 18,186 parts. And the level of detail is just astoundingly high. Just check these out: I am just plain impressed, so much that I wanted to show it here, and my jaw just went for an unscheduled maintenance procedure (which went on for 16 hours, mind you). But will this Ultra-MOC take your jaw into the ER? Weigh in on this build.

Now what will Alatariel do next?
-
OK, so I'll say it because no one has: Alatariel just got two projects through. This is already her second.

Here is a fellow believer. Cheers!

So for the bitches that say TLG don't sell a box of basic parts anymore, here you go. Enjoy.

This is very good and inspiring news. This better be in the front page. -
Oh, cool. So, following your line of reasoning, you think TLG "will promote Mobil and Shell" by signing deals with makers that are partnered with oil companies, right? That's still too far a dot to connect, though. I mean, promoting Mobil? PROMOTING MOBIL?! Isn't that going too far? So if TLG gets a license from Ford and/or Aston Martin and they make the GT40 and/or V8 Vantage GT3 in the Gulf livery, does it mean that they're promoting Gulf Oil? Maybe, but Gulf isn't big a company anymore, and about 90% of EB members see a car in Gulf livery as a legendary car.

You're welcome.Oh, and photo credit, yes: I got these from Allen Tran (TheBrickFan.com)'s Flickr.

Just because it's there doesn't mean it is. TLG signed with McLaren, Porsche, and re-signed with Ferrari, THAT'S IT. All other company logos are there because they just so happen to sponsor the real thing's cars. Case in point: this model, the 458 GT2: The companies are, as I can read them: ANSYS (engineering simulation software) Hublot (watches) Adler Plastic (you know, plastic) UPS (freight courier) Pakelo (oil lubricant) See any Shell in there? What's with some of you and why are you connecting dots that are way too far to make sense connecting?

I don't mind stickers, mostly because once parts get printed they'll end up being single-use parts and may look out of place when used in another model or MOC'ed. You may not apply stickers and build it as is and still appreciate the 991 RSR as just a base 991 GT3 and the 997 GT3R Hybrid (the orange one) as just a 911. You can leave the stickers out of the 458 GT2 model and still have it as just a 458. OK, so you may be bummed by the stickers on the Big 3 Hypercars (P1, 918, LaF), but they're few, and some of the defining details are still brick-built. Around $20-30 for the singles, considering the licensing fees and stuff, and also because of the new wheels, tyres, arches, and roof/windshields.

Glad you highlighted that.

Boys and girls, here they come! [me: Nifty!] [me: I like this B-model] [me: I'll find gray colors for this one, and build Skorponok] [me: No pic of the C-model? That's a good one] [me: I see you, SU-47-esque B-model] [me: Cargo Ship? Hooray! Even if it' a bit off-scale] [me: Lovely] Well, there they are. Weigh in on 'em and say what you wanna say.

Article tells adults to stop playing with LEGO; gives 0 reasons why.

Wow. Now where's my Mosin? -
Now, the Guardian (again, dang it) wrote about TLG's plans to create a reality show. It says on the article, penned by Mark Sweney and Stuart Dredge: "Lego is developing reality competition formats and will be launching a TV series in 2015. A senior executive hinted on Tuesday that one idea Lego is exploring revolves around Master Builders – the name given to the designers of its toy bricks sets and theme parks, and to characters in its movie. "Jill Wilfert, Lego’s vice-president of global licensing and distribution, said that the Danish company is 'exploring some reality competition show formats, which is new for us: the idea of becoming a Master Builder is something we think could be quite resonating'. "Wilfert, speaking at the Mipcom TV conference in Cannes on Tuesday, said that over the next few years the company will increase its focus on TV and digital entertainment. “'You will continue to see us in this entertainment and content space' she said. 'We are working on a new property that will launch with a TV series in 2015, and we are focusing on having real interactivity.' "She added that the it would be something designed for digital natives, with apps integrated into the experience." So, I speculate an Apprentice-style show, a serialization of the application process, which can turn either for better or, most likely, for worse. What do you think, EBLand? I'll have no qualms if this is not the right subforum, but I feel this is.

A LEGO reality show... a good idea or a bad one?
XAxles replied to XAxles's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Like, what I meant with "Iron Chef"-style show looks like Peter Reid vs. Mark Stafford, or the Senior Technic Builder (sorry, don't know who, exactly) vs either Sheepo or VKT, or Jamie Berard vs Nathaniel Kuipers or Peteris Sprogis. Basically, they guys who work at LEGO vs select AFOL's. And then a sub-show with about 16 kids cut in two brackets, from 7-11 and another bracket 12-19 (TFOL's). Also, there will be a recurring "SHIPtember" special. Yeah, I just went overboard. GIANT EDIT: OK, since Iron Chef has an Italian, French, and Japanese master format, I think it best if TLG will do something similar, with the best Senior Designers in System (Micro, Creator/Model Team), Technic, and Mindstorms as the Iron Builders and the challengers being select top-notch T/AFOL's, guy or girl (some women chefs have already beaten an Iron Chef), and if T/AFOL wins he/she becomes Iron Builder or gets "acclaim and prestige for his or her lifetime" and a Super Master that can build with all three (if that guy exists), as well as a SHIPtember tournament (Yeah. You got a problem with that?) special? That makes for four Masters. -

OK, then I guess "The Great British Bake-Off" is the the best bet. But how about an "Iron Chef"-style show?
