    All Terrain Dual Rocket Launcher

Sweet build. Great theme, really dig that cockpit, the wheels and the rockets.
  2. Not too enthusiastic about the 42070 model at first glance. Though I would have to build it to form a definite opinion. However I am quite interested in the set regardless because of the part. Spotted so many parts that I would like to get, that I will probably not be able to resist buying one.
  3. I doubted where to post this MOC. The theme is clearly SF, but the heart of this MOC is Technic. Since this MOC started as a Technic MOC, I made the main post on the Technic sub-forum. I hope the moderator doesn't mind that I make a small topic here as well because I think people on this sub-forum might be interested as well. More info on the Technic forum here:

Thanks Ben! Building an RC MOC is a lot of fun, I can highly recommend it. It can take a little bit more fiddling to get everything just right (I happen to like fiddling). And then when it is finished, there is playing with it... I just lovely to see all the kids go wild at the local park seeing my MOC in action ^^. Especially when they realise that it is made from the same LEGO that they have at home.
  5. This is my Blacktron fast Scouttrax. You may have seen a WIP topic about it some months ago. This is the end product. It is inspired by the 6941 which was one of my favorite sets when I was a kid. It is also the first wheeled vehicle I've build since my 'dark age'. I've been working on this for a while now, abandoning the project several times because I couldn't get it to work as I had imagined it. Specifically the steering mechanism. The steering technique that I was trying to recreate was something I had seen on TV. The basic idea is that when a wheeled vehicle goes into a corner, the main cabin will lean into the corner, a bit like a motorcycle. This style of steering has many benefits for high speed vehicles. For one, the g-forces on the driver and passengers are much more pleasant. But it also helps with getting better traction on the road. Normal vehicles that take a corner will experience a fictional sideways force which actually is just inertia. In order for a car to overcome that inertia it has to have enough traction. However a vehicle with the style of steering I used, actually uses that inertia to create additional downforce and traction, thereby increasing the velocity that can be used in a corner. I had a hard time creating something that didn't only function well in theory but also in the real world. At the moment it functions as intended, as you can see in the video. However the level of control and suspension could still be improved which is why I am building a second version at the moment. You can find additional photos on my Flickr account: https://www.flickr.com/photos/33425520@N07/albums/72157669572889372 I have also put it on LEGO ideas: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/159717
  6. I still look at those catalogs occasionally. It's strange how something from way back in the eighties can still inspire :).
  7. Big thanks to all moderators for helping to create such a high quality community. And thanks to Milan for being willing to help out.

Welcome to the community Kenny. There are some awesome MOC builders who make their designs available for use. You may want to consider building one of their MOCs if you want to a bit beyond what TLG offers.

    Transformers: Generation Brick

Fantastic stuff. Big fan of the original Transformers. Your LEGO versions are awesome. So much detail at such a small scale.
  10. Thanks, that steering on 8226 is indeed the same basic mechanism. Never seen that though, probably released during my dark age.

Thanks! Well I tried both, but in the video I've only used the Sbrick. The Sbrick can handle a little more more amps and voltage. but the main advantage is the added range, especially outdoor.

Thanks for your lovely comments guys. I think the rarity of RC depends a bit on the sub-forum. Over on the Technic sub-forum a lot of MOCs are radio controlled. Personally I love tinkering with controling my LEGO creations.
  13. Thanks guys! The Mako was definitely an inspiration on this build as well. Actually at first I thought that I would make it ME themed, but then I changed my mind because some things did work that well, for instance to make a Mako I would have had to buy a lot of white LEGO parts.
  14. Thanks for the lovely comments guys, it's great to read. @Jeroen, Yes I agree that more yellow would make it look a bit better, and in hindsight I missed some opportunities in that regard. I also wanted to make the windscreen trans. yellow, unfortunately it doesn't exist in that color.
  15. It sounds to me like you just want to get some power adapters. You just have to find an adapter that transforms 220V DC to 9-11V AC, capable of providing 1-6A. The amperage depends on how heavy you are loading the Sbrick. Personally I would keep it below 3A. When you found the right adapter you just have to connect the wires coming out of the adapter to half of a PF extension wire. Of course you will need make sure you are connecting it in the right way. I think that is the cheapest and easiest way to provide your creation with cheap power. Like Jeroen said, Philo has a lot of information about PF on his website, including how much amperage each type of motor draws.
  16. Lovely event guys, enjoyed watching the pictures, thanks.
  17. Top-notch model, suspension, detail, I love it. Also really appreciate the creativity and effort you put in making those composition photos :). Too bad we can't see your and Sariel's tank battle it out in a video. But we know who wins anyway rigth

Brutal, love those canons and poses. Also, the whole build is very nicely propotioned, it has a classic mech feel. Well done!

    Favorite Space Line?

Original Blacktron without a doubt. Though I also have a soft spot for the classic space stuff.
  20. Have you factored in all the costs like purchase of the printer and man hours?
  21. This is my Blacktron fast Scouttrax. It is inspired by the 6941 which was one of my favorite sets when I was a kid. It is also the first wheeled vehicle I've build since my 'dark age'. I've been working on this for a long time, abandoning the project several times because I couldn't get it to work as I imagined it. There are still some things I am not quite happy with, so this will not be the final model. I have plenty of ideas on how to improve it. But I think it is far enough along to show it to you guys. I went a little overboard on motors: I really like fast vehicles :). This model is fast enough to get some nice drift action going. It looks really good when doing a fast corner. I should have a video of it up in a couple of weeks. You can find some more images on my Flickr account if you are interested (https://www.flickr.c...157669572889372).
  22. Thanks :). Yes, the leaning is part of the steering mechanism. The idea behind it is that by leaning into a corner like a motorcycle the crew can more easily deal with inertia when taking a fast corner. Absolutely! :)
  23. Lovely model at an impressive scale :).
  24. Lovely model. Cool photo of the two hell kitties :).
