So is everyone going to rush out and pick one up tomorrow? I was going to go to my local store, I wonder if there will be a rush on this. I have the parts to motorize it when I get one.

Yuck, dog smell would be bad. Airing out does help, for sure. Up till now, I have not had too much trouble with smells and dirt. Some parts that are used have arrived with sticky stuff, but I have been able to clean it off. Sticker residue can be hard to clean, but its doable. I really try to stick to new parts, but you can't help it when some parts are only available as used.

Really nice job, I like it a lot. I am in the process of dreaming up a train station too, not this size, but its fun to see other ideas!

I was wondering about this too. I haven't ever gotten anything early this way either. I was figuring they keep them in the back during the early access time? So have to ask for it and then they will bring out out for you.

I keep having bad luck. I tried to order from a seller on BL, 9 days ago now, and they won't reply, or even read my email asking what is going on. They invoiced me, and I paid them that same day. The status has not been changed, so I have no idea if its been sent to me yet or not. No communication at all. I can't figure out why. They keep getting feedback from other people with all positive, things like 'super fast shipping' and 'all just perfect' so it doesn't make any sense why I am being treated this way. The only thing I can come up with is that when I paid, I accidentally got the wrong invoice with a total that didn't include an added item, that updated the order. They sent a new invoice, but I mistakenly used the earlier one to send the amount owed. I realized this and sent a second payment, which was just under a dollar. I realize now that they might of been charged a second transaction fee for it. I apologized for the mistake, but maybe they are just jerks? I don't know.

The train looks like mine after it sailed off the table and landed on the floor! I hope no damage after you look it over.

I am running FF 37 also now, but on Mac. The site seems much improved for navigating, but... I made an order yesterday, and still have not received any email confirmation for it. It says on the final screen when the order is approved, that an email will come... uh huh... (queue the crickets). Oh well. I know enough to log in to check on it myself, and the order is there now, 'in warehouse' took till the next day though to appear. That's a little disconcerting too!

I have one 48x48 baseplate and its on a shelf with a moc town square garden on it, ever since I ran out of room to display it. I kind of prefer the 32x32 size more, too. I found a BrickLink seller that had a new plate in the light bley color in 32x32, and bought it. was approx. the same price as the current ones for sale at Lego. I would like it a lot if they sold that size in that color still.

Thanks for the repair ideas. I decided to order a replacement, I don't want to risk a repair that would re-break with use, possibly causing another incident on 'dead mans curve' ;-) Cheers.

Ah, thanks! I knew there must be a different part. It's all because of an error on both BrickSet's and Rebrickable's parts lists. They both list part 58181 to use. (There are several other errors too, but I was able to figure them out.) This is also not helped by the instructions not having a parts list included. The 3939 part is still expensive from any sellers that have more than one to sell. I'll keep mine as-is for now, I kind of like the tile on top of them, I'll pretend they are ventilators ;-) I agree, I probably will swap the glass. The used 4x5 glass I got is really scratched up too, and that bothers me enough to want to find better. I'd say cost to build it now is around $130 for me, and approximately 14 orders over about 3-4 weeks. I thought about adding the extra height above the doors, but decided to do it below because I was afraid the clearance for the engine might not be enough. I decided on that from other's comments that some trains didn't fit in the doors. Now I see the two trains I have so far would fit okay. I would just have to buy the expensive 4x5 style doors. Not sure I want to invest even more money into it, though.

I had some time to take a few photos of my rebrick of the Train Shed. It came together pretty easily, though waiting for so many BrickLink orders to get the parts needed was a bit frustrating. My changes to adapt to cost/availability are pretty minor. I used newer 4x6 doors and windows on the ground level, which raised the overall height of it one brick. I used clear glass too, instead of the trans black, but might change that out in the future. Its hard to tell when its closed up. I used two silver 1x1 round bricks instead of the chrome silver 1.3x 1 part on the lathe. It fits, and just looks like a groove has been cut in the part on there.. I used a red hand truck instead of the yellow. The black web vertical supports are different, with open web, instead of the original's solid web. One change/addition I made though was adding 2x2 and 2x4 black tiles to hold the skylights together (can see this in the photos). I don't know how this detail got put into an official set, but there is actually nothing but a little friction holding all of those trans black pieces on. Maybe there was a change in the part, I can't tell from what I have to go on, with the parts list and the instruction booklet. Without the tile pieces holding it all together, they would just fall off if held upside down! If anyone knows anything about this problem, let me know, maybe I can get different parts or something. For now though, I think it looks pretty good. I need to figure out how I want to integrate it into my track layout. For now, its on the dining room table... LOL, I can get away with that for a little while longer. :-) Here are the photos I took:

I got one of these too, I didn't know another version is coming so soon. Will keep a look out for it. I am already thinking of redoing the cars as well for my own ideas.

I wish more train sets with passenger cars would come about. I am MOCing some of my own design and the parts needed are becoming rarer and rarer on BL, things like windows and the window glass.

Its on the S@H site now, and $199.99, as all the rumors predicted.

Here is someone who built a Lego room in their basement. Thought was worth sharing. http://www.cnet.com/news/this-guy-has-the-most-insane-lego-collection-in-his-basement/#ftag=YHF65cbda0

Brickset has all the closeup photos too. Here is their link: http://brickset.com/sets/10247-1/Ferris-Wheel

So far, I have been able to find unopened older sets to buy, so haven't experienced getting a used set. I would always be worried about missing parts, dirt, wear, etc. I have only build too pricey sets from scratch with my own parts and downloaded instructions, its quite fun to me. I am not adverse to changing the colors or updating to newer versions of parts.

I added it up, and its taken 11 separate orders of parts, and I think I have everything now. Its cost me $152. I found the two minifigs which came to an additional $9, so grand total cost is $161. I am guessing about $23 of the total was just for shipping the orders to me. That part adds up when you have to go to over 10 different sellers, for these older, harder to find parts. I have used some of my existing parts, but that isn't that much more to add. I used my existing track sections and some dark bluish gray bits. I didn't have much red on hand so that was a big part of the cost. edit: Oh, also I got one small part by mistake, due to an error in the parts list on rebrickable. The white bar part, it listed it as a 6L white part, but what is needed is a 6.6L white bar piece (part no. 4095). So I have had to order that, but I included it in the above total. That is the part that holds the hanging light over the workbench.

I finally got my 2 light gray baseplates delivered, off of BrickLink, so can actually start putting something together. They cost me $6 each. It would be great if Lego made a 16x32 base in gray again. Only new you can get is a 48x48 size currently.

I have been reading $199.99 also. With that kind of part count. I read its about 24 in. tall, 15 in. wide. I have to worry about space on this one..! I am currently running at a space deficit here..LOL

Amazon has the 60052 Cargo train set for $156.99 here in the USA. That's a $43 savings over S@H price. (I got one ;-)

Light bricks need to be pressed to work, they don't stay on by themselves unless you do something to keep the switch down.

On the Brickset parts list, it has the 15254 part shown, it is the same as 3307. I have this set and its just a regular arch. This type of door needs a hinge piece and sits next to the arch, it doesn't fit into it. The price for it on BrickLink is about 5 cents.

I have purchased all that I am interested in for this year so far, short list. Only thing coming that I want is the Mercedes Aroc technic truck. I am spending money on BrickLink parts to build some sets I missed in the past. Most of the current sets I have no interest in.

Steam Locomotive Repair / Storage Facility - sets 60009 & 10027 MO

Nice job, I like it. I like those open web supports too, they look good. I am using that style in my 10027 build.
