Once you start building do you find it hard to stop?
talos replied to legoman19892's topic in Community
I have sort of trained myself to refrain from Lego till afternoon, and I've gotten most things done. My other limitation is light, I have a skylight over my table, and poor regular lighting, so once it gets too late, I can't see well! Haha, summer has a lot longer day at least! -
Does anyone have a price yet on the set? (21020) Trevi Fountain? All I've found are a couple eBay auctions for $114, so it must be less than that...I hope!

Very nice, very Mies and FLW. I like the style a lot too. I hope you can get the parts to build it!

Very nice! I like the ladder to the roof idea. The security guard must of been to the Haunted House attic to get that newspaper! Haha!

I'm curious about the Arctic Ice Breaker (60032) it doesn't seem to be available in N.America. Brickset says its limited availability, and only shows a £89.99 price, so is it only being sold in the UK? Looking at the photo on Brickset, it combines parts of a couple of the other sets with the ship and a lot of other nice accessories too...

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
talos replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Isn't the Parisian Restaurant technically a 2014 release? It came out in January, I think. I kind of see the Bike Shop & Cafe (31026) as a mini modular. I can't quite make myself want to get it yet though, it seems a little light to me, for the price. And the little car is a bit of a joke.. ;-) -
I got a small BrickLink order yesterday, they forgot to put one item in the box, so now have to send separately...

Oh now you have me worried, wanting to get the GB set... I better be ready next Sunday.. :-/

Last nights episode of Jeopardy! Had a question about the chemical compound or a plastic... I can't remember how it was phrased, but the answer was Lego. Haha, I answered it correctly, as did the contestant on the show, it was the first level in the category.

I bought 21106 Minecraft 'The Nether' for a gift for my niece, she loves playing that, will be her second one, I got her 21102 'The Forest' for her birthday couple months ago.

I spent hours yesterday on BrickLink looking for the apparently hard to find parts I need for a MOC I finally decided to build.. So far, 4 orders, and I still don't have all that I need!

Review: 60036 Arctic Base Camp (A review in 5 parts)
talos replied to woofmcmoose's topic in LEGO Town
Nice thorough review, thanks, this was the set I wanted to get. I have to ask, is 'bley' supposed to be gray? OK, I found it, bluish grey = bley.. ;-) -
I was looking at my VIP account at Lego S@H today, and happened to scroll down to the bottom of the Account History tab, not sure why I have never done that before..but it shows the grand total of all points earned for me. It also says 'There must be a very happy LEGO Fan close to you.' because of the number, I guess..haha. I guess that would be me, most of what I purchase is for me, but I do get a lot of gifts for family too. Well, my total points earned up till now is 2570 points. It would be a little larger, but I have purchased several sets from other places. I do try to buy from S@H if I can, to collect the points. That double points period didn't hurt either! I would love to hear how many points others have earned. Cheers!

I know this is an old thread, but I just got the last part of a 3 item order of Lego through Amazon (them directly, not a reseller on their site). It was sent from Hebron, KY, to me here in Calif., and it arrived all squashed down. The other part of the order came from a close by dist. center, and was in perfect shape. I have gotten other things from the KY location before, and they have been barely still inside the box when it got here, so I am beginning to think they employ some deficient people there...LOL. My Lego set was sent using UPS 'SmartPost' (that must be a joke, I think!) which took a week to get across country, and then handed over to the local USPS to deliver. The package was not taped up tightly, so there was slack in the box lid and they only stuffed a bunch of crumpled brown paper in to pad it out, so naturally it got crushed along the way. The Lego box is slightly crunched, but the seals are intact, so I think its OK. I have to think twice about ordering from Amazon

I finally took the plunge a few days ago to order some parts, to build a small MOC I made in LDD. I ordered parts from one seller on BL and then found a City set I wanted from another. So, I placed 2 orders, and neither one has contacted me or done anything, as far as I can tell. The brick order had a notice that they were experiencing delays, so I guess it was my own fault ordering from them, but they had the most of the parts I needed. Not sure what is up with the other seller. I will just be patient, I guess, there is no rush, I just don't like things hanging forever, though.
-
I finally decided on a MOC that I designed in LDD, and have been trying to track down the parts...not as easy as I thought..! BrickLink is great, but no one seems to have enough of each part I need! I am going to have to start a column or two on the BOM generated in LDD to find what I need and keep track of it...it gets complicated rather quickly!

I know, I too have bought the last few sets at Amazon and TRU too. Some things that are 'retired, or sold out' on the Lego shop are still available and for a discount too, need to be sharp to find things sometimes!

Like a lot of others, ignoring Lego for decades..I had them, a huge box full back in the late 60's and early 70's, then absolutely nothing until a couple years ago, discovering the Architecture series, and buying one (Robie House). Then discovering the modular buildings too late to get anything before Fire Brigade. I think I missed it retiring by just a month or so..haha! I paid a premium to get FB, but won't shell out for the other older ones...will admire from afar.. ;-)

I also am limited by space, I have commandeered the dining room table again, I had to pack everything off to the spare bedroom for a while, but its all crept back into the large dining room table. I feel bad some days hogging the table . I had to pull out one extension on it to make more space to share, but now that has been taken over too... I don't feel 'burned out' I think, but I have gotten a couple larger sets, and haven't wanted to build them, not yet anyway. I think its the space issue making me not want to work on them (London Bridge and the Maersk Triple E)... I have a ton of ideas I want to do in LDD, and have started 3 or 4, but will work intensely on them for a few days in a row and then stop, I haven't been back to them in a week or two now. I will eventually. I am retired, so have a lot of time at home to look at the Lego and want to keep working on them.

I am in the USA, but logged onto the UK S@H site...and you get a free balloon card and a shredder mini fig free if ordering the Mixer..haha, I wonder if I could get away with that..?! Another interesting thing, my VIP points show up as £50, its $50 on the USA site, I know that the exchange rate works the other way round! Haha $50 is about £30 in exchange..

New sets available at retailers before they show up on Lego S@H
talos replied to talos's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I have only bought online up till now too, so was not up to date on retailers and how it all works on new sets. Here in the USA, I was reading a lot of people were buying the 'Arctic' sets already at places like Toys R Us, and they are not on the Lego Shop@Home site yet, so I took a trip down to my local Toys R Us and they didn't have anything at all. Just my luck, I won't bother doing that again I think. I prefer to gather VIP points anyway. -
I found a link on Brickset dot com to a contest to win a set, answer the question to enter. It is an autographed by the designer box too... brickset.com/article/11236/win-a-signed-fairground-mixer!
