The stickers certainly add something, but the Minifig really makes it. She goes really well with the colour scheme and the pose works brilliantly with her expression.

It makes sense now I know what I'm looking at. Using all the parts makes it more of a challenge! I didn't try to do that and wasn't bothered about a minfig sitting on mine.

Nice. I like the tooth pieces for ear tufts and the tooth pieces on the front legs. It's interesting that your griffin has a different & distinctive look, even though we were both building the same thing using the same small pool of parts. Is the 3 tooth part that's sticking up between it's wings part of the griffin or something else behind it?

@Chak - nice to see a different interpretation. I knew I couldn't be the only one to have tried this. It's actually got quite a different look to it despite using the same parts. Yours has a more mecha/robot type feel to it (possibly influenced by the last post with it standing on two legs). I'm not sure it's well suited to Lego Ideas though, since it's a mashup of two existing sets it's something people could build themselves & I doubt Lego would expect to get high sales (though obviously I think the idea is good). @Behemoth - thanks (assuming you meant my griffin). @samuraiturtle - some other legendary hybrids from Legend beasts would be fun (Chimera Legend Beasts? - sorry couldn't resist the stupid pun)

Thanks. Yes, I agree that the front paws (claws?) are a bit too large, but I didn't see any way I could fix this while still using only the parts of the two legend beasts. The front legs have only minor modifications from the eagle legend beast. In fact I can't think of any way of making smaller front claws, even if I used parts from other sets. If anyone has suggestions I'd be interested to hear them (even if I might not have the parts, we have a fairly small collection & most of that belongs to my children)

Thanks. @mccoyed I'd be interested to see your version if you make one. I was only using parts from these two sets, and I'm not sure that photo is from the best angle & pose, however I reckon my design could be improved on (certainly if you used parts from other sets, but even just using this set I expect a more skilled build could make some improvements)

I think the origins of this beast are fairly obvious (and made me consider whether I should post in the action themes forum, but since fantasy creatures seems to come under historic this forum seemed more appropriate). We already had the Lion Legend Beast (picked up as I had a £5 off voucher), and after a relatively unsuccessful shopping trip with my son we picked up the eagle. We built the eagle (of course) and about 10 minutes after finishing it I realised it should be possible to combine them into a griffin. The build is fairly simple really. It took a little while to get the wings positioned to my satisfaction and get a reasonably coherent colour scheme. I expect it would be possible to work out how I did it from this photo, but if you want a few pictures of the build click through to Flickr. Most of it follows either the eagle or lion instructions so I only took photos of the differences (and realised a couple a a bit blurry after uploading them, I might update them at some point...) Lego griffin He has been demolished so we can use the pieces for something else (or maybe even build one of the legend beasts again). I've not looked to see if anyone else has built a griffin using these set but I doubt I'm the only one! Edit - I've added it to Rebrickable

    Serious question about Lego flowers

Yes, I was thinking of that kind of flower too - called a daisy in English (well British English at least). An Ox-eye daisy (Leucanthemum vulgare) would be closer to the correct scale for lego plants.

    Serious question about Lego flowers

Despite being a child of the '80s I always assumed they were supposed to be studs up as a child. The only set I remember having which had flowers was 530 basic build set which has studs up flowers so that is probably why. Studs down flowers still look slightly wrong to me, though they're probably more botanically accurate. Variety is probably the best policy as nature is very varied. I do like the use of the level base to make tulip type though. We spotted that in the Lego Ideas Book and I was impressed that my 6 year old quickly worked out how they were made even though she's only seen the levers at her grandparents. Using them stud up then stud could represent the middle of this kind of flower, or any flower with a large middle bit (I really should know what the middle bit is called!)

    My first MOC

Exactly what I was thinking, it's very nice and good to see something that's a similar size to official sets.

Dragon Attack (built by my little brother)

Very nice. I like the windows on the tower and have been trying to work out how they are made. I think it's a 2x1 tile for the base, 2x1 cheese slopes for the sides. Am I right?
  12. Yeah, you can take credit for a MOD, you've made something original even if it's based on a TLG set, that still requires creativity. Even arranging a load of TLG town sets to make a town requires creativity, and everyone would do it differently. I'd like some and wouldn't like others. Yes, someone will be interested in your stuff.

    Combining 70404 and 70402?

This review shows some options where parts of the castle are switched out for the gatehouse. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=84348 Not sure if this is what you were thinking of.

    My Town Layout

I like the construction site idea too. I'm not sure a railway station in the style of the modulars would look right. To me the train looks like a rapid transit / light rail type train due to the short coaches (I know Lego describe is a high speed train but that makes sense from a marketing perspective). If you assume it's some kind of light rail system then a more modern looking station would make sense, maybe with a low platform. I agree that a MOC station would look better than the one from the set as it's too short. One trick you could use if you don't want to build a full length station would be to have the station somewhere along the back of your town with an entrance between two of the modulars and a short platform in the bit you can see between the buildings. When looking from the front you could imagine that the platform continues behind the other modulars. I think you'd need to rearrange your modulars and you might end up with one modular which didn't fit...

    MOC Dragon Army Outpost

He has a crossbow available (in the far corner), he's just not using it. Presumably he could pick off the attachers fairly easily if he picked it up. Maybe he is confident in the abilities of his minions, or wants them to get some battle experience. The defenders look like they are doing ok without his help as they've killed one attacker, though the guy with the axe defending the ladder is looks like he is about to be outnumbered. I reckon this is going to end in defeat for the Lion Knights unless reinforcements show up quickly.
