The build looks really boring, and Im not a Minecraft fan, but its a good parts pack, and costs less than I expected, particularly when considering LEGO has to pay the makers of Minecraft, and, I think, the guy that posted the idea on Cuusoo. I'll probably get it for that reason.

I was hoping to bring this to brickworld or somewhere else, but that unfortunately won't be happening. Even if I could get it out of my house intact, and into the car, I won't be able to go to BW Chicago this year... Really the only show I COULD display it at without too much risk of it breaking in 30 different pieces (again, assuming I can get it out of the house) would be BW Fort Wayne, since that's where I live. If I ever try this again, I'm definitely going to put more thought into movability...

Looks good, very beefy looking sort of. Looks ready to smash something. Nice use of that helmet on the feet too.

The curves are done using these, layered for strength, with these and these used to attach plates at an angle. Technic supports then hold the back (non curved) section in place, to minimize wiggling. Then plates and wedges cover up the middle of it, and the top is built on that.

So its been several weeks now since I've posted anything here, so here is a bit of an update on progress. SHIP WIP by brickmack, on Flickr This greebly section is (probably) the shield generators, one of the bits of this ship that I particularly like. I added this on shortly after my last update here. SHIP WIP by brickmack, on Flickr That whole area of the ship right now. SHIP WIP by brickmack, on Flickr And the entire ship thus far. Some may notice the lack of a Tower Bridge behind it. I moved it somewhere else and moved the table out from the wall, so I can work on the other side of the ship. That side I had never been able to see very well before, so most work was done by feeling. Surprisingly I got everything in its proper place... SHIP WIP-Command bridge and surrounding stuff by brickmack, on Flickr And this is a little section for the top of the ship (which I will start on in about 4 months if all goes well) that I did when I was running low onparts for the part of the ship I'm working on now. This will be the command section, with communications directly behind, and most of the escape pods behind that (Because there just isnt enough life pods for all of the thousands of people aboard, and the people in charge think they deserve life pods. Also, because I really don't feel like adding 750 life pods on this thing...) When finished this will be about 2 feet long. And thats it for this post. Hopefully my next update won't take as long as this one did...

Great job on this, certainly one of your best so far. The "eject" sticker is a really nice touch as well.

The Blacktron 2 Allied Avenger set, a Classic Space set, a blue CS minifig, some old Pirates minifigs, a bunch of parts (including most of my old grey) and a few Duplo parts that I think are older than me.

Yea, those diamons will be gone in, at best, a week, unless they have dedicatedsecurity guards for that area.

Nice. The acklay was my favorite beast. Tge proportions are a bit off though.

Can rare colors be special ordered?
brickmack replied to RoxYourBlox's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I heard somewhere that LEGO sometimes will allow limited production of a part in a certain color, but only if the person ordering it wants a LOT. As in thousands of dollars and many thousands of parts. (This is mostly because making a part in a new color, even if they already make it i other colors, costs a lot to do and also means that they cant produce parts in whatever color they would normally make, meaning they cant produce sets as fast) So unless you are willing to pay that much money, and get hundreds of times more parts than you actually need, just find an alternative way to replace the parts. -
Wonderful. I love the geeble-plate ratio, got it just right. Nice integration of that torolug thing too.
-
Crazy... I can see something like this being a bit expensive, but anything over a few hundred dollars seems kind of absurd.

That mining vehicle looks wonderful. I think the connection to the body could be done a bit better, but it still looks wonderful.

Captain, there is something wrong with Clark's helmet display!
brickmack replied to teabox's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Cool, I never thought of using that pumpkin for that. I like the design of that door also. -
Looks nice. My only concern is those knee joints. It looks like its just 2 click joints per leg, but this model looks rather heavy. I think you will need something much stronger to make this in real life. Not sure what to use though, mecha joints aren't something I've studied much.
-
Cool. I like the fan things on the side, looks sort of like an exposed reactor or something. Not really sure about the fangs or whatever on the front though.
-
Looks great. I like the assymetry of the stripes and antenna.
-
Looks nice. That cockpit looks like it could come out as an escape pod perhaps.
-
Dang thats big. The edge of that lake or whatever seems unnaturally square though
-
Looks interesting. I like that brick built blue X thing.

Lego CUUSOO Firefly Serenity Playset Reaches 10k!
brickmack replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Yea. This one is a pretty cool design, but there are a lot of really good original MOCs that don't have even close to 10000. Unfortunately they just dont have big fanbases... -
12.0. I run updates as soon as they come out.
-
Does anyone know of an addon for Firefox that does this? I haven't had these problems on EB, but sometimes MOCpages logs me out before I finish writing a description and I lose everything, which that would prevent me from losing my stuff.
-
Looks great. Painful (especially with those exposed studs poking into a foot), but great.

Lego CUUSOO Firefly Serenity Playset Reaches 10k!
brickmack replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I hope LEGO makes this, since I'm a huge Firefly fan. If only Fox would revive the show... Its not that much worse than some of the other licensed themes LEGO has made. It doesnt even have very much cussing, discounting the Chinese stuff (I'm not certain if that is actual cussing even, since I dont know any Chinese). The shooting and other stuff isn't much more violent than Star Wars or any of the other stuff I think.
