MOC: 7 wide police / civilian car

Wow! Thanks for letting me know about the compass part from POTC sets. That means the dark blue 1 x 1 tile is in production just with printing on it right now. Maybe Lego will start using the dark blue 1 x1 tiles without printing for some future sets but for the time being I guess I am going to have to learn how to take the printing off.

MOC: 7 wide police / civilian car

Great suggestions Tragic Banjo. I have never built in pink or purple before. I don't know if it would be even possible in those colors but it would be interesting to see and a very unique car. Thanks brickmack. Sorry about no back seat, to get a back seat I would have had to stretch the car and I think it would have made it too long and thrown the cars lines off so I guess the police will just have to call the prisoner transport or stick to writing tickets like the highway patrol camaros we have in my state. I used the wheel covers from the speed racer sets that came out a few years back. The civilian cars are supposed to be modern muscle type cars. I didn't have any specific model just tried to get a muscle car shape long hood and short deck in the back sleek and sporty.

MOC: 7 wide police / civilian car

Thanks lightningtiger. I have a whole list of parts I wish lego would make in certain colors but trans-clear 1 x 1 tiles would definately be near the top along with dark blue 1 x 1 tiles. Thanks Fuzzylegobricks. Thanks Tragic Banjo. Thinking of doing a couple of other color later this year. Might do orange or lime with black, yellow with black, black with red and light grey with dark blue. Will see what I get around too. Got any suggestions? Thanks Leg Godt Gud. Thanks Legocrazy81. I'm glad you like the subtle differences. I had to make minor adjustments to the dark red and and the dark blue cars due to Lego not making certain parts in those colors. I don't have any overall shots of my city but I am going to try to take some later this summer to post. Thanks KielDaMan. Great suggestion on the bumblebee color combo. I did that combo on one of my sports cars and it came out good. Maybe later this year.

    MOC: 7 Wide Cars

I shared one of my 7 wide sports car a few weeks back. It got a pretty good reception so I thought I would share some of my other designs. First up is the other sports car I designed, its also seven wide and seats 2 minifigs. If I were a lego minifig this is the car I would drive. This is the black with orange stripes version. I also made it in a couple of of other colors. Second up this is a seven wide SUV that seats 4 minifigs. I always wanted a car that fit 4 minifigs so this is my attempt to make that happen. This is the dark green version. It was challenging to build with such limited parts available in that color. Dark green 1x2 plates are very expensive. I also made the SUV in dark blue, black and classic blue with white. The dark green looks the same as the other colors but the design is a lot different due to the limited parts. Last but not least this is my latest seven wide design. Its a taxi cab seats 2 minifigs. Has a storage behind the seats for a couple of minifig suitcases. This is my first car design with the new 3x6x3 windshield. The best new part for 2011 in my opinion. Thank you all for looking. Here is a link to my flickr sets if you want to see some of the other colors. My link

    MOC: 7 Wide Cars

Thank you all for the kind comments and critiques too, both are appreciated. Thanks for liking the SUV mookage in the dark colors. Dark red is a great color, definately thought about making a car in that color as it has more parts available than dark blue or dark green which would make it easier. Just waiting for Lego to release the 4x6 wedge triple curved piece in dark red so I can make the hood right. Thanks. I would be happy to share the layout of my city. When I get some free time I will take some pics of it. Thanks for the critique on the taxi. I designed a version that fit 4 minifigs but I thought it looked a little too big in proportion to the 6 wide cars. I try to get the cars to look okay with offical lego cars as I have both in my city. I will try to make a 4 seater sedan later this year. Thanks for liking the sports car. I have thought about making it in orange with black stripes also lime. The problem I find with the rarer colors is parts limitations. Lego seems to slowly release more parts in the rarer colors over time. Just waiting for lego to release some of the parts used in the car in those colors to make it happen. I wish Lego had a program where we could special order existing parts in the rarer colors.
  6. Thanks for sharing DLuders. Just finished watching the show. Very interesting to get a behind the scene look on how the latest police station set went from concept to production to consumer. The distribution center where they ship out all the sets to all the stores is massive.

    MOC: Blue Sports Car

I've enjoyed checking this forum and seeing everyone's Lego creations so I thought I would try and share one of mine. This is a 7 stud wide blue sports car and it seats 2 minifigs. Thanks for looking.

    MOC: Blue Sports Car

Thank you for all the kind comments! I'm glad you all like my car. Thanks! I'm glad you like the blue. I made this car in a couple of other colors but I really liked the way in turned out in blue. The wheel/rims come from the speed racer sets. I believe the wheel covers were only available in those sets. I'm glad you liked the car even if its not built to the 4 stud car 6 stud truck standard that Lego has. I saw a couple of other replies where they mentioned the width. I am definately not a traditionalist when it comes to cars. In my Lego city its 6 stud cars or wider. I really like the larger cars and how they look with the modular style buildings plus I think its cool to have a car that seats 2. My male minifigs are happy they can take their female minifigs for a ride. I have noticed that Lego seems to be making their 6 wide cars larger, and I think a well made 7 wide car can look good with those vehicles but for those that have a lot of 4 wide cars in their cities I completely understand that a 7 wide car will look way out of proportion. Thanks for liking the design. You noticed my other sports car on my sigfig. This has been a good experience so I will have to share some of my other cars.

    10199 Winter Toy Shop

For those that missed out on the Winter Toy Shop, Toys R Us has them in stock on their website right now. $10 mark up though $69.99 proably one of the highest mark ups I've seen from them but I guess its better than paying a $100 plus shipping on Ebay. Might be a better deal when they have a buy one get one half off in the future.
  11. Thanks for the link looks like they are already out of stock. Maybe they will get some more later this week.
  12. Here is a couple of ideas I thought might work for series 4 of the minifigs. -American Football player include minfig helmet with face mask and football would look good with series 1 cheerleader -Las Vegas Showgirl (pg family version) includes elaborate headpiece -Bheetoven style music conductor with wild hair and baton -1930's Prohibition gangster with Tommy gun -Greek philosopher printed toga and laurel comes with a scroll -Tightrope walker with balance stick -Diner Chef with printed greasy apron and spatula -Frankenstein -Werewolf -German with the traditional Oktoberfest wear comes with beer stein continues the international series started with the Mexican -Jaguar Aztec Warrior with Jaguar headpiece and obsidian sword -Heavyweight boxer
  13. I need a little help on the valued of a sealed star wars set versus a new star wars set that was opened but all the pieces were new and in the plastic bags. I sold a 6211 Imperial Star Destroyer on Ebay it was new misb. The box was in excellent condition for $195.00. I shipped it internationally to Canada from the U.S. and the buyer is claiming that the box is great but the factory seals were opened on one side. I am assuming it was opened in customs. Does opening decrease the value signifcantly? He wants me to fix the issue of the box not being sealed but I can't control the mail. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Value retired sealed vs. opened stare wars set

Thanks for your help and the suggestions. What is the definition accepted definition of a sealed set in the Lego community? I've never personally seen a perfect lego set box there are always flaws slight discolorations, scratches on the box minor wear etc.

REVIEW: 8684 LEGO Minifigures Series 2

People are getting series 2 sealed boxes proably shipped over from Europe to sell on ebay right now since they got them there first. You can get a sealed box from bricklink shipped from Europe right now for a pretty decent price I'm considering going that route selling off the one's I don't want and skipping the madness. Different TRU's can have different limits. There are 3 TRU's by my house and for series 1, one TRU limited purchases to 5, another 10 and the last one had no limits. People would line up at that one before the store opened to buy them out. Lego S&H for series 1 sold them individually and initially had a limit of 5. Then after 3 weeks dropped the limits and they sold out in hours. You could then buy 60 which would be a full box but I don't think people actually got a box just 60 sealed individuals with the same distribution as in the sealed box. Does anyone know for series 2 if Lego Shop at Home will have limits this time?

    10216 Winter Village Bakery

Thanks for the great pics and info. Good looking set, I think it will make a great compliment to the Winter Toy Shop. Decent price too at $54.99, I was expecting $59.99 as Lego seems to have been rasing prices this year. For those that didn't pick up a Winter Toy Shop last year Walmart has it up on their website. Its out of stock but lists it as new so maybe it will be available again this fall.

    Hello

Hello my name is Dan and I am from the silicon valley in Northern California. I have followed your web forums for a few years and finally decided to join. I especially enjoy seeing the preview picks of the new sets that are coming out that are posted on the forums. I was a big lego fan as a kid and got back into lego as an adult and it has become one of my favorite hobbies. My favorite themes are city and trains and my favorite line of sets are the modular cafe corner style buildings.
